hi i’m back on main bc this is the only thing i post about on this goddamn site this is!! so!!! important!!! i appreciate people trying to pick up on a crucial element of the character but so much of it is done in extremely? weird and superficial ways that make me uncomfy?? it’s extremely nuanced and i’m tired but like. yeah. i read pete as reform/largely secular jewish and there seems to be a sort of all or nothing sense of his judaism in the fandom when in fact you CAN still be legitimately jewish and not keep kosher or go to services every week or even practice very much at all; this is still a real valid way of being and identifying and connecting with it !!!! 

ofc i cannot speak for all jews but ! thank u for putting this into words i would love to see elaboration way more coherent than whatever this little rant was

Might elaborate later but for the moment I’m gonna vague post and implore gentile Spider-Man fans making Jewish Peter posts to ask themselves if the content they’re creating is helpful or harmful to actual Jewish people. Does it rely on antisemitic stereotypes you might not have examined. Does it use Christian rhetoric. Etc.

wow okay so i know i haven’t been active on this blog in truly literal YEARS but PLEASE let me tell you why because i promise you’ll understand when you hear!!!

so i was waking up on my first day of my senior year of high school (my last first day of school ever!!!!) and tying up my long hair into a messy bun and putting on my favorite superwholock shirt, and i went downstairs and found my parents sitting at the kitchen table looking super concerned. “we need to talk,” they said, and i kinda frowned at them like “is this about the superwholock shirt? because the doctor is so hot and i’m gonna marry sherlock holmes” and they were like no no no honey we support your dreams of being the world’s #1 superwholock fangirl, but.... no.

so, some context: my parents had been out of work for a little while and we’d put all our money into building my fugly basic prep sister’s yoga studio above the garage, so we were kinda broke. but we didn’t like to talk about it. or how i was supposed to pay for college. just... money? a problem. me being a gay superwholock stan? not. remember that.

my mom says, “we want to be able to pay for you to go to college, but, as you know, money’s tight right now” (yeah no duh my dad wanted me to sell my life-sized functional tardis but i said absolutely tf NOT) “but we think we’ve figured something out.” she waved towards the kitchen and (wait for it I PROMISE THIS IS REAL NO WAY COULD I MAKE THIS SHIT UP) FIVE BOYS WALK OUT
