shaking my head when i see aus where supers are regular dudes and bats are Freaky Creatures. like obvs i cant control anyone but to me that fundamentally is just so boring because it's like. you're missing the other half of things. insofar as canon goes, the bats are regular dudes who are trying really hard to be Freaky Creatures, yes... but listen. the supers are Freaky Creatures that are trying really hard to be regular dudes. look at this thing

Superman's other typical saving cats from trees style job should be finding the parents of kids who lost them. He can overhear panicked calls and take a kid up to aerially search out their parents. Also he's great at keeping both sides-- freaked out parent or babysitter and lost child-- calm.

Thinking of Clark learning the rhythms of life and death on the farm, of gaining an empathy that goes above and beyond in people's final moments and knowing how to redirect grief and respect it until it becomes something more. His upbringing hasn't ever taken the shine off life and makes him resilient in the face of loss and chance.
