Good morning, loves. I hope today is kind to you. Remember that you are loved. You are not alone. You matter. You are you and that is enough. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. You deserve the absolute world, there is a bright future on the horizon. Just hang in there. You’ve got this. Everything will be okay. Take care of yourselves and I wish you all the best xxx

Hello, everyone! I'm a long-time lurker in the studyblr community, so I finally decided to join myself.
About me:
My name's Nina.
I'm 19 years old.
I'm from Serbia.
I'm a freshman at the Linguistics college, studying German and Spanish.
Why did I start this blog:
Last school year I really struggled with my mental health, and I think a creative outlet like a blog will help me manage it.
I want to be a part of this amazing community!
What you can find here:
I'll try to post original content in terms of how my studies are going.
I'll try to post study tips, tricks and mental health advice from professionals and experience.
Maybe you'll find a book review once in a while.
My interests:
Learning languages.
Reading.
Exercise.
Studyyblrs which inspired me:
@study-harder@eintsein@myhoneststudyblr@mymessystudyblr@lovelybluepanda@problematicprocrastinator@hard-coreprocrastinator@sayitaliano@sayitalianohome@selfhelpforstudents
It's probably worth mentioning that @selfhelpforstudents and I are working on a project centred around managing your mental health while studying. Stay tuned.

it takes years to develop your craft. do not romanticize the idea of an ‘overnight success’. be a student. grow organically. get really good. hate your work. start over. find new ways to express the same ideas. the student becomes the master. your time will come.

Don’t tell your daughter that when a boy is mean or rude to her it’s because he has a crush on her. Don’t teach her that abuse is a sign of love.

my mom did many really really good parenting things that i didn’t realize were unusual until i became an adult and heard about other people’s less positive experiences
i will pass on to Current Youths ™ a perspective she gave me back when i was maybe…. 12
which was hugely impactful for my mental health
while most of my friends had parents who treated college as a default & anything other than that as a failure, this was what my mom told me
broken down to Bullet Point Principles
college might not be the path you want to take
there are other ways to study the topics that interest you
if you go to college, make sure you’re going either for the love of learning or with a clear end goal (a degree, certification, breadth of knowledge, etc) in mind
you might end up wanting to go to a trade school to do something with your hands
you might not want any post-high-school education at all
your career won’t define you and neither will your career opportunities
you can stay true to yourself even if you aren’t a high-powered career woman clawing your way up the ranks
in fact you’ll PROBABLY feel better doing menial mindless jobs & focusing your life around your spare time creative pursuits
[kitkat note about this one: absolutely true for me, may not be true for you]
you don’t have to find a dream job
you don’t have to have a detailed life plan
you don’t have to follow the expected path or do what people tell you to just because they think you’d be good at it
you don’t have to change the world
you don’t have to make your passions your career
i ended up dropping out of high school for a large number of different reasons.  but pearl clutching is unnecessary, this ^^ life outlook was not one of them.  i’d have dropped out whether or not she told me this
having all of this in mind meant that i knew my life WASN’T OVER after i dropped out.  so i failed at traditional education.  so i wasn’t gonna meet the potential everyone said i had.  so i wasn’t gonna go to college.  so i was gonna disappoint some people.  so my life was gonna be harder.
so what?  i still had everything else
i am so so SO grateful to my mom for this.  it was such a healthy outlook on school and future expectations & it gave me total freedom to do and be who i want to be.  & that is why i’m sharing it.  because when you’re in high school, EVERYTHING is ABOUT high school.  failures in high school feel like the end of the world
they’re not.  i promise.  don’t trick yourself into thinking they are

when i was a child, i could not comprehend in my little child brain that people who were not from my country had thoughts on another language other then the one i spoke, i couldn't comprehend how there were many languages in the world and they weren't just translations of my native language and when i think about it i just realize damn, is that how americans feel all the time? that must suck so bad :/

set small goals for yourself! you don’t need to be fluent right away, or graduate with straight As. it’s way better to have smaller goals, like “get an A on this test” or “use memrise every day for a month” - it’s so important not to overwhelm yourself, which can harm your motivation a lot. same goes for having a (study) blog, just set yourself some small milestones, instead of having one huge aspiration that seems impossible to achieve.
