i (afab) have recently come to the realization that i’m probably nonbinary. which is cool. some of the coolest people i know are nonbinary. but i have my own weird gender issues stemming from being mistaken for a boy from ages 8-13 and then being kind of invalidated in a relationship with someone who was also going thru their own gender identity experience and feeling forced into the role of literally being the man in the relationship otherwise they’d feel dysphoric. and i worry that if i start using they/them pronouns, i’ll feel as though people are seeing me as more manly and less womanly. even though that’s not how i see nonbinary people or myself (i’m like separate from gender as a whole but gender issues have me in their clutches) i still worry that maybe that will make me start to feel dysphoric. any advice from people who have a similar experience with their gender identity, or people who have come out as nonbinary? thanks :)
