So, the joke goes something like– (and stop me if you’ve heard this one before) it goes something like, two kids with depression walk into a relationship. Now, the bartender asks– wait, shit, sorry. See, there isn’t any bartender, ‘cause, let’s be honest: they’re not doing their drinking by the glass, they’re doing it by the bottle. Okay. Okay, so, the therapist says—but I mean, who can afford a therapist, these days? But the antidepressants, the antidepressants say, “I haven’t worked in two years, but my list of side effects is too long for you to ever leave me. I am where you learned to be needed.” So they’re coping. Of course, she’s forgotten how to talk about herself in first person, while he offers up his life’s story like it’s a joke only he finds funny. Turns out the world is just as heavy on two sets of shoulders. Two kids with depression walk into a supermarket. Two kids with depression walk into a doctor’s office, walk into a brick wall, walk into the same bad day three hundred and fifty six times and call it normal. The only thing I know about this punchline is that I’m not gonna like it. That it looks like a hurricane of nothing. Of repetition. Of wake up, wake up, wake up. Of moving just fast enough to be considered alive, but only in the way a houseplant is considered alive, or a creeper vine. Plenty of things are still here simply because they don’t know how not to be. My boyfriend talks about death like a place he has tried to visit—like a destination he is always pointed towards, even when it is not the place he is going. For me, I don’t bother aiming for an ending when, most days, I don’t feel like I ever started. What I mean is– Depression is ugly. And it’s easy to backslide when you are trying to climb mountains, but that does not make you a failure. Two kids with depression woke up this morning, walked all the way to tomorrow and the day after that. Two kids with depression are still walking. That might not sound like much to you. What I mean is we’re a couple of fighters and we are still here. In spite of everything. Or maybe because of it. What I mean is suicide is not cowardice, but it is, without a doubt, an act of bravery to survive.

Recipe: Artichoke Dip
Description: It’s cool and refreshing.
Game ingredients: Artichoke, Milk
This recipe restores 100 energy and 40 health. It can be obtained from the Cooking Channel and sells for 210g.
Difficulty: Easy, 30 minutes.
Artichoke hearts smell kinda like water chestnuts.
-A 398mL (14oz) can of artichoke hearts -½ cup sour cream -½ cup mayonnaise -½ cup grated parmesan cheese -½ onion, finely chopped -1 cup chopped spinach (optional) -¼ cup chopped green onions (optional) -2 teaspoons lemon juice -1 teaspoon garlic powder -2 teaspoons basil -Salt and pepper, to taste
Preheat the oven to 375°F. In a medium bowl, mix together the sour cream, mayo, parmesan cheese, spinach, and green onions.

Drain the water from the can of artichoke hearts and place them in the bowl. Crush them with a spoon to break them up, and stir thoroughly in the mixture. Add the onion, lemon juice, garlic powder, basil, salt, and pepper and combine.
Transfer the dip into a medium baking dish. A 9 inch glass pan works best. Top the mixture with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese, and then bake it in the oven for 20-25 minutes or til the top is a light golden brown and is bubbling.

Use with crackers, vegetables, naan, or toasted bread. It can be served hot or cold.

There’s a lot of possible variations. To make it really creamy, add a 226g (8oz) block of cream cheese. For extra cheesiness, add some shredded mozzarella.

I tried to argue that Ophelia resonated because Shakespeare had made an extraordinary discovery in writing her, though I had trouble articulating the nature of that discovery. I didn’t want to admit that it could be something as simple as recognizing that emotionally unstable teenage girls are human beings. … When Ophelia appears onstage in Act IV, scene V, singing little songs and handing out imaginary flowers, she temporarily upsets the entire power dynamic of the Elsinore court. When I picture that scene, I always imagine Gertrude, Claudius, Laertes, and Horatio sharing a stunned look, all of them thinking the same thing: “We fucked up. We fucked up bad.” It might be the only moment of group self-awareness in the whole play. Not even the grossest old Victorian dinosaur of a critic tries to pretend that Ophelia is making a big deal out of nothing. Her madness and death is plainly the direct result of the alternating tyranny and neglect of the men in her life. She’s proof that adolescent girls don’t just go out of their minds for the fun of it. They’re driven there by people in their lives who should have known better.

What you need to know about Obama’s new letter of guidance for transgender students.
the administration has determined that the designation of “sex” in Title IX protections also includes gender identity, which means that if public schools don’t comply with these protections, they lose federal funding
transgender students are only required to have their parent or guardian contact the school district to notify them that their identity differs from what is previously on record
these students do not need to provide a medical diagnosis, identification documents, or any other information regarding their transition
transgender students must be accommodated even when it makes others students uncomfortable
transgender students can be offered the use of single stall restrooms, but if other students are not required to use them, then they aren’t required, either, and specifically mentions that if a student is uncomfortable sharing a restroom with a transgender person they can be offered a single stall restroom
these protections also cover correct pronoun use as well, along with other guidelines
