I had decided to just take layer modes and throw them out the window cause I relied on them too much when it came to picking colours. So.. this is one of the pieces where I tried to just work on colour theory and needless to say it was very refreshing. I like how this one came out~

Um. Tried doing something different. Completely different. It was fun! I think I’ve made some progress on my colouring style for non-full rendered pieces. (Or it could also be ‘cause I’ve just not done this style for quite some time.) 

I’m kinda chuffed that I drew a lady and she turned out cute.

Bare Exposure

My submission for the Parsons senior publication for illustration! I did a book cover previously but this is my piece for the individual submissions. The theme was intimacy, and my idea was that surgeries and autopsies are intimate, because the person is completely exposed with nowhere to hide. The body is revealed to the world’s eyes, and not only is it vulnerable but it’s also intimate, because you trust the one handling your body, something that you have owned since you were born.

Proposal book cover spread for Parsons The New School’s senior publication for illustration, with the theme, intimacy. 

My idea was, there’s somewhat of an intimacy in conflict. Both sides are entwined in this battle, both hurting the other, both being vulnerable to each other, and there’s fire or desire to come out on top behind that conflict. Snakes and owls are both predators, and sure maybe it’s more common to see an owl eat a snake, but the snake also has the power to suffocate an owl. Idk, I thought it was just an interesting dynamic!

Damian Callahan

I made a new oc! He’s a 50 year old cult priest who’s rather constantly stressed. Rather fearful of going against traditions and rules due to an abusive father. The scars on both his arms and his forehead were made by his father who turned alcoholic when he was a child. Doesn’t realize it yet, but he’s quite gay and kind of has a father complex. Damian kind of..really needs some comfort, but everyone in his community (read:cult,) just sees him as a saint and not even human.

Sovereign’s Cradle ╳ King Jones of the Sea

Children of an unfamiliar womb, O Spirit, hear their cries of repentance, encased within this curs’d watery tomb, pardon lost seeking souls from your vengeance. The old moon above in blanketed night, peaceful lulling of the sea’s soothing sigh, crewmen unaware of the Devil’s smite, awakened by the King’s commanding cry. His whip of lightning cracks upon the hull, thrusting waves melt into icy gallows, debris blast into sinning shepherd’s skull, chokes stolen by unforgiving shadows.      His sinking souls of forsaken prosper,      claimed, embraced by the vicious storm’s Locker.

I’ve picked some poems that I’ve written, to then kinda put my OCs in the context, or just to illustrate. This one features a genderqueer sailor, pulled down into the depths by a ruler of the sea.

Donovan Vinter (48), an innkeeper from Norway. He is a bit of a nudist and a has a sensitive soul, who has issues with loneliness. Big gay buff bear. He will protect you so hard. 

Oliver Thorne (16), precious femboy from coastal britain that has a crush on a priest. he can read people rather well and tries to make u happy, but also needs to be protected. he is so pure and gentle. 

Earl Vinogradov-Enkhtuya (26), half russian half mongolian sculptor that was adopted and brought up in california, but moved to new york. insecure af. looking at classing art excites him a bit too much. >_>;;

ngl, there’s definitely some claude inspiration there. Jason is definitely tired, definitely burnt out (but doesn’t realise it), and maybe i fanboy over him too

edit: he definitely needs therapy but he puts it off cause he’s a huge workaholic with a “if i still work, theres nothing to be fixed” mentality

By the end of these twelve moons, no matter how much, we cannot stop the time dunes' sand spilling from our clutch. The stinging rot shakes our very core, causes the Heart's festive lights to flicker. The grandfather clock knocks on our door, and the winter melancholy grows thicker. Time seems to run dry as the winds of change wisk it away. Despite fearing what the “end of the year” may imply, this “end” is only what we wish to portray. December marks not an end but an upcoming rebirth. Time will come to recollect and mend, we only need to let passing time reveal it's worth.

Crown’s Penitence ╳ Falling Off Death’s Cliff

You sat upon your throne, pretending, forced your mind into your self made confines. Sat upon submissive bodies, ascending, looking away from the blood that soiled your shrines.

You don’t see; your sand begins to run thin as the Devil tugs your chains taut. You hesitate as you glimpse Death’s grin, “Was pride and revenge worth such cost?”

A bead of heated salt cradles the jaw as you remember the taint of childhood. The mind forever haunted by missing jigsaws, pieces scattered where your mind’s self stood.

Like a used toy, off her cliff you are tossed, the Devil mocks and challenges her prey, “Was pride and revenge worth such cost?” You glare into Death’s eyes and say,

“Yes.”
