The only way to get better at doing something is to practice! Over and over again! Still having some fun with these upcycled t shirt skirts. Skirt on the left is my first attempt at making a patchwork skirt. It's a hot mess, although still wearable and comfortable. This kind of fabric is quite forgiving. Skirt on the right is the result of a neater and more carefully planned out pattern. I used a top stitch to make the stitches on the outside as I like the way it looks! Not sure if these will ever be something I sell, I really just enjoy making them and they are super comfortable. Feels a touch guilty to indulge in creative pursuits I don't have plans s to sell, but sometimes that's ok! I love transforming old pieces that have remained unsold. I made the piece on the left ages ago out of a vintage brass stamping. Never sold despite being taken to countless shows and tried on by many people. Took it apart and colored the piece with alcohol inks and it will be riveted to a copper piece.
