Since todays apparently Best Friends Day, in honor of that, I wanted to write something for my absolute best friend Bee, @broomstickbee253
(Big wall of text below, read at your own risk XD )
My platonic soulmate (...or more? Jk.... Unless?? XD) One of very few who have seen me at my absolute worst, who knows way more about myself than I do, has helped me through so many bad days in the years we've known each other.
She's become my muse in creation, every song I make, every drawing I do, is because of her, and I wouldn't be who I am or where I am now if she wasn't here. I'm so glad I met them when I did, I'm so glad the universe blessed me with being friends with such an amazing human being who lights up the world by simply existing. They make every day worth waking up to, they make every night worth sleeping through.
The time I spent in New York with her is still such a cherished memory, and they made it a million times better. I still randomly remember those days and have to keep myself from squealing in happiness in the most insane places. I'm so looking forward to the days we can spend together again, and the memories we'll get to create together.
May Night guide her through the darkness with starlight, Aisea answer her questions and make each coffee perfect, Nocturnus always inspire her to create what she wants and needs, and Connections keep them close to her

Hello! Me again, hope it's not an inconvenience. I'd like to know if there's a spell for luck or an increase in fortune? My family and I are going through some rough times and I'd just like to know if there's anything that can be done to better our situation?
Yes of course! I’d like to believe fortune spells are among my specialties 😋
This one is a pocket spell, basic but super simple, easy to make using household items. I used it a few months ago myself, to increase financial luck. You will need:
- a small pouch/handheld container
- one or two fresh basil leaves
- a coin
- a bay leaf
- a candle (ideally green)
- a pinch of dried or fresh ground ginger
- a pinch of thyme
- chamomile incense or chamomile essential oil (optional)
1. Start burning the incense or diffusing the oil (optional), close your eyes and meditate a few minutes. Try to empty your head of any superfluous thought so you can make some space for your intent. Envision it clearly in your mind, visualizing what you hope this spell will bring.
2. Still focusing on this clear picture/goal, write the word ‘fortune’ down on the bay leaf and lay it inside your pouch.
3. Next to it, add all the other ingredients one by one: the basil leaves, the coin, the ground ginger and the thyme.
4. Light the candle and drip a few drops of the candle’s wax over the other ingredients as you chant three times: “The threads of my fate I weave today, changing the odds so luck comes my way.”
5. Try to carry the pouch as often as possible, bringing it to school/work and whenever you’re out somewhere. You can place it in a handbag or even better, in your wallet if there’s enough space.
If you’re looking for more, I gathered a few links to other spells out there!

So I'm feeling a little down and very low energy, and writing and helping brings me joy, so here's some "it's far too overcast and cold for me to be mentally well" witch ideas:
Light incense. Don't visualize or do magic. Light it up and say, "yay, I like incense."
Make tea. Sloosh it around in your mug a little. Say, "it's just like the ocean." Drink the ocean.
If you are a little cold, say, "I manifest warmth." Go find a bigger, cozier sweater or a blankie. Get warm. Your spell has manifested. You are magic.
Find some of your clickity clackity rocks. Make a crystal grid of no more than three rocks. No matter what grid you make, the intent is, "I have just done a productivity." When you are done, your spell has simultaneously been cast and become manifest.
Wash one dish. Look at it and know that it loves you. You and the dish are friends now.
Imagine what kind of cat you would like to have, if you did want a (new) cat. Think about its appearance and personality. Give it a name. It is now your thoughtform. Enjoy.
Watch that one Netflix show you've been saving forever for a time when you're ready to focus. Do or do not focus. When you are done watching the show, say, "I knew it."

A little serenity spell
I’ve always had trouble with calming myself internally when I’m panicked or stressed, and despite my externally calm demeanor it’s hard to keep myself together. I’ve devised this gentle little spell from a recipe for Cream de la Cream a la Edgar from the Disney film The Aristocats and added in a little witchy twist for a drink perfect for all seasons and easy to prepare. Let’s get into it, shall we?
What you’ll need
Any amount of milk, any kind is perfect
A few spoonfuls of sugar, brown or white
A splash of vanilla extract
A sprinkle of cinnamon
A couple calming affirmations- I’ll have some at the bottom for you
Optional: a nice scented candle or incense or something of the sort, also honey
What you’re gonna want to do is:
— Heat up your milk to your temperature of preference- since I’m extra I boil mine in a teapot until it’s close to bubbling over-and then pour it out into your mug (or if you’re like me a bowl because you don’t want to wash things)
— Side note, a cool funky fresh way to have this quick and ready on the go, make more than you’ll expect to drink and store the rest for later :)
— I like to think about how I’m incorporating all the elements as I go, fire is the stovetop or microwave, air is the steam from your drink, earth is the cinnamon, water is the milk and I consider me and my intent to be spirit
— After you’ve poured out your milk, add in the sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract to taste, you can also add honey if you’d like- feel free to tamper with the recipe as you see fit and personalize it, this is to calm you and help you whenever you need it
— I tend to stir my drink clockwise to invoke calm and serenity, you can also stir counter-clockwise to banish anxiety and stress or discontent. As you stir you can repeat affirmations or trace sigils into the drink, breathing in the steam and checking your whole body for tension.
— As you drink, relax your shoulders and your face, and repeat this: ‘I am the fuel, you are the fire, fill this cup with all I desire’ until you feel the drink carries your intent.
Some affirmations
I am calm and rested
Anxiety has no control over me
Serenity is accessible and mine
My stressors do not hinder my rest
I am aware of my responsibilities and take time to rest
A website to make sigils automatically
And that’s basically it! Thanks for checking this out and let me know how it went if you try this!

Every single year, without fail, we deal with the fact that the internet is obsessed with promoting the misinformation that Ostara must have been stolen from Easter.
People will argue until they’re blue in the face…But they won’t provide citations or evidence to the contrary and the reason why is simple: there isn’t any.
If you find that celebrating Ostara brings you joy: we aren’t here to rain on your parade or stop you in the slightest.
But misinformation, even misinformation that sounds cool and serves to further rhetorical goals, is still wrong and harmful.
So, after years of promising it, we’ve finally delivered: Easter isn’t stolen from Ostara.
Have questions? We’re happy to answer!

50 KITCHEN WITCH TIPS TO MAKE YOU FEEL MORE WITCHY
(And other useful things I've learned over the years)
Hi! This is a list of dos, don'ts, tips, tricks, and other fun things that I've learned over the years. I always love finding more effective and efficient ways of doing things so if you have any cool things you'd like to add, leave them in the comments or reblog. I'd love to read it.
Anyways... On with the list ^_^
Light candles around your kitchen space (just make sure nothing flammable is near you)
Annotate your cookbooks with the correspondence of the ingredients.
Mediating is really good to calm the mind before cooking.
Cut oranges and lemons thinly, dry them, and hang them with twine around your kitchen
Need a cleansing tip? Open all your windows near your kitchen. Let some fresh air in.
Cutting sigils into apples, pie crusts, and carved potatoes.
Save lemon and orange rinds, freeze them, and then use them to clean the garbage disposal.
Make infused oils and honey: Things like garlic honey, lavender honey, herb oil, sun oil, moon oil, dandelion oil, and other different edible oils are very fun and useful to make.
Hid sigils in pages of your cookbooks and kitchen witch journals.
Add some plants! Snake plants and spider plants don't need too much light, and growing your own herbs in your kitchen is awesome too. Basil, lavender, thyme, aloe vera, rosemary, etc. are good fits. You could also add some plants that require more sunlight on the kitchen window sill. Like cacti and succulents.
Bring crystals into your kitchen space such as rose quartz, clear quartz, amethyst, or whatever you want the space's intentions to be.
I keep a small money tree on the sill, along with cacti for luck and protection.
Make a simmer Pot! Mostly because it makes the whole house smell good, easy, and fun.
Stir clockwise for best results!
Learning how to pickle things is actually pretty witchy. Plus, anyone could do it as it requires absolutely no kitchen experience. You could pickle any vegetable, even if you don't like pickles. I originally learned this after having to take shelter from a natural disaster. A person brought a bunch of stuff and taught us how to pickle things with different spices and herbs. Very fun!
Decorate your kitchen with your favorite stuff. Crystals, decor, heat mits, that cool mushroom cake stand you've been eyeing at the World Market for the past 2 weeks, cool looking curtains, sun catchers. Why stop there? Paint the walls, hang shelves full of marked-up cookbooks that are a little too well-loved and thumbed through.
Wanna be the person that has the amazing-smelling house every time people come over? Syrups take some time to simmer down, it's actually a pretty good time to leave it on the stove to simmer. Since syrups have a lot of aromatic ingredients, it acts as a really good-smelling simmer pot.
Hang up herbs to dry with twine from cabinets that are rarely used.
Invest in that new set of plates and cups.
Homemade jams, butter, sauces, and syrups are your best friend.
Crochet or knit your own dish rags, pot holders, etc.
Don't pour extremely hot things into a glass that's not Pyrex, it will break, and you will be very sad about it.
Don't cook anything while extremely upset or emotional (For safety reasons)
Make recipes you want to make, not just because you'll like the effect. Make it because you think it's tasty.
Chinese Five Spice works in place of herbs for protection and luck spells a lot of the time! It's cheaper to buy 1 spice than 4 different spices that total up to 15 dollars when you could just spend 3-4 dollars.
Take a shower before cooking (I don't know how to explain this one other than it makes you feel better)
Don't use microfiber/plastic material clothes on hot burners, it will fuse to the burner and melt. It is VERY hard to get off.
I don't know if I need to put this one but I did see someone do it so nonstick pan = wooden utensils and plastic utensils, metal pan = metal utensils. Do not use a metal spoon in a nonstick pan, please. It can make you very sick.
Keep your pets away from hot oil, open ovens, and hot pans.
You can proof bread dough in the fridge overnight if you don't have the time to bake, or want to eat fresh bread right in the morning.
Need a quick witchy meal for dinner in 12 minutes? Use premade tomato pasta sauce and doctor it up with thyme, rosemary, and garlic, for protection and distilling stagnant energies. Serve with pasta of your liking.
You can substitute Butter for Crisco/shortening, buttermilk for 1 cup of milk + 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, and heavy cream for 1 cup of half and half plus 2 tbsp of butter.
Use leftover animal bones to make bone broth
Teach yourself the art of bread scoring (It's fun, and you can show it off to your loved ones!)
Collect and hoard your own and others' family recipes.
Sometimes the food doesn't have to be a spell, sometimes it just makes you feel good and you don't know why.
Listen to your favorite music in the kitchen, it makes the monotonous things like chopping veggies move faster.
Invest in a vegetable chopper if you don't like chopping vegetables.
Find a really good hot cocoa recipe and make it once a week. Master it. Just for your own happiness because hot cocoa is really good. You could also be the friend/family member that makes the best hot cocoa ever.
Focaccia Bread Lasts a very long time, and it's very easy to make!
Keep a first aid kit near where the oven is, in case of burns, cuts, or serious injuries where time is everything.
Quick Bread and no-rise loaves are simple for beginners, tasty, and take little time. They also feel very witchy to make.
Study a bit of Herbalism! It's fun and really helps better understand the herbs you're putting into your food.
While something is boiling, put your wooden spoon over the pot to minimize the chance of something boiling over.
Try a bit of coffee magick, it's simple to get into, and gives you a boost of energy to take on the day!
If you're over 21, wine-making is a very interesting way to celebrate the sabbats. Just with that, make sure you KNOW what you're doing. With anything fermented, there's always a risk if you don't store things correctly. Apple wines, strawberry wines, dandelion wines, etc. all very cool to experiment with. If you're not over 21, vinegar is a similar way to experiment.
Hang up some witchy things, sigils, photos, cool magnets, and other things that give you joy on your fridge. (Sometimes if you are lucky they have some fun magnets at five below)
If you live in the US, for some reason, there are a lot of books in the book section dedicated to witchcraft and spirituality. At least where I live. And they are all under 5 dollars!
Teas are the cheapest and easiest things you can practice being a kitchen witch.

Tortitas de Calabaza- Squash Cakes/ Pumpkin Fritters for Samhain
I realize I don’t talk a lot about witchcraft specifically as a Puerto Rican witch, so here’s a thing for Samhain!

Tortitas de calabaza (called barriguitas de vieja in some towns, which means belly of an old lady lol) are a traditional Puerto Rican treat, you can make it as a dessert.
First of all, we don’t have actual pumpkin in PR, you know those big orange ones used here to carve jack-o-lanterns? Nah. Instead, our “calabaza” is actually a kind of kabocha, a dark sort of acorn squash looking pumpkin that grows wild there. My grandma harvests them wild from late summer to early fall, and it stores as well as any other winter squash.
So, Samhain??? My family doesn’t celebrate the wheel of the year like I do. But seasonal foods are a powerful way to connect to the seasonal changes and cycles, which is important to my practice. I personally associate this with autumnal sabbats, especially Samhain, because Pumpkin and its protective properties!
Without kabocha, you can also use regular pumpkin, acorn squash, or butternut squash.
Ingredients + Correspondences:
About 2 cups of cubed calabaza (kabocha squash), pumpkin or other winter squash- protection, banishing, prosperity, abundance.
¾ to 1cup of Flour- abundance, bounty, harvest, earth energy.
¼ tsp of baking powder
1 tbsp of cinnamon- protection, success, prosperity, love.
1 egg- protection, hex breaking, cleansing negative energy, manifestation.
3 to 5 tbsp of sugar (to taste)- sweetness, peace, and love.
Pinch of salt- protection, cleansing.
Some people add vanilla extract, my family does not.
Steps:
1. Your calabaza should be cut in cubes like this:

You’re gonna start by boiling it in water with the salt, until soft- until you can easily slide a fork into it.
2. Drain the water out and, in a bowl, mash up your squash, kind of like making mashed potatoes:

****If you want to skip the part where you cut, gut, chop, boil, and mash up a hard squash, you could maybe try with canned pumpkin puree? I never have. Let me know how it goes!
3. To this, you will add the 1 egg FIRST. Mix it really well. Once the egg is mixed, it should look like this:

4. Now you will add the baking powder, cinnamon, and sugar. mix it up well. Taste and add more sugar to your liking.
5. Mix in the flour IN SMALL PARTS. Don’t worry if you don’t use the full cup of flour, just mix the batter as you are mixing in the flour, until you get the right consistency. The consistency is KEY- it should NOT look like puree, it should NOT be liquidy. It SHOULD look clumpy, thick, and similar to gross putty tbh. Like this:

6. Pour enough oil into a pan to deep fry. Set the heat on HIGH. We are going to flash fry these suckers, because the squash is already cooked. To flash fry, it is important that the oil be VERY VERY HOT. To know if your oil is ready, slide in a little bit of the batter and see if it fries.
7. Scoop out a spoonful of the batter and, using another spoon, slowly slide it into the oil. DO NOT PLOP/DROP THE BATTER IN THE OIL. The oil will get everywhere and you will be burned.
8. It only takes maybe 15 or 20 seconds for one side to get nice and toasty. You’ll know when the edges start to look crispy. That’s when you flip it and let it toast the other side of your little patty. When both sides are nice and gold and crisp, they’re done!
9. Sprinkle on some confectioners sugar if you want :) done!

So in my research of herbs for witchcraft and herbs that are associated with gods I found out that the ✨golden apples✨in Greek mythology were actually QUINCES.
Due to their association with Aphrodite, brides used to hold a slice of Quince in their mouth to ensure a sweet marriage. Roasted Quinces were also eaten on important days in the hellenic calendar and often filled with meat.
Nowadays Quinces aren’t the most common fruit and it is unusual to eat Quince raw due to their astringent taste. HOWEVER you can find quince paste on charcuterie boards and it goes great with cheese!
