In the past few days, I have worked on camera movement and player movement. WASD are the main controllers for moving the player, with right click being used to move the camera around the player. In addition, I added a walk speed and a run speed for BunBun. If the player is holding down one of the move controls for more than one second, BunBun will speed up in that direction and in the future change from her walk animation to her run animation.
I have also been experimenting with rigidbodies in Unity and got BunBun to stand on the floor! Next programming wise will be to figure out how events work in Unity and maybe a little bit of user interface.

For today, I worked on creating different unique eye expressions for the main character of my game, Bun Bun. I plan to use blend shapes to animate the different eye options. Next up is rigging Bun Bun!

The Beginning
Hello everyone! My name is ducky, and I have decided to go on the biggest journey of my life so far: creating a video game from scratch as a one man team.
This is meant to be a fun project that I work on during the summer months - if it becomes something more than that and people are interested in my ideas, that is amazing! If not, I will have learned a lot along the way about myself, my work ethic, and my craftsmanship.
As a preface, this blog will most likely only be updated during the summer months, since that is when I'm not enrolled in College courses. Once I graduate and get my degree, I can continue working on the game for longer amounts of time. Until then, this is going to be a nice and slow ride.
A little bit about myself and my knowledge as it stands so far: I am currently studying Electrical and Computer Engineering in College and have been coding since 8th grade. I know C++, Python, MATLAB, a little bit of HTML and CSS, and Java. I've been working on familiarizing myself with the Unity API in the last couple of days, and it has been going pretty well. My main passion is art, which I have also been practicing since 8th grade. I've taken a couple of courses pertaining to 3d modeling and the animation pipeline in Maya, and had to go from sketching the concept of a character to a full 3d animation in a semester. Since the art style I am deciding on for the game will be on the lesser detailed side of 3dart, I feel confident in my ability to create assets for my game. For the music side of the game, I plan to commission friends and other people for soundtracks and voice acting (if I get that far!).
Other than that, I am fairly new to creating video games other than a couple of game creation camps I've done during my summers before college which I vaguely remember. Here's to all the mistakes and long debugging nights I will run into along the way! :DD
