ZeLink, Wed [Zelda Proxy Project]
Artist Credit: Malin Falch

The first of many proxies I have made for a Zelda themed commander deck for my wife. One of many possible commanders for this deck, "Aragorn and Arwen, Wed" made for a good base for a card depicting the ZeLink ship.

Comparing AI generation to the randomly perceived shapes in the clouds is actually such a good analogy!
Remember back when AI "art" first became a thing? The neural network programs were just making images at random back then. They were abstract and arguably not correlated to any particular subject, but it was the random result of a computer running the type of algorithm computers had never been programmed for before, and there was something kind of beautiful and fascinating about that at the time. Sometimes people would be impressed with what they saw in those images and make some kind of connection to the perceived "creativity" in the computers behind them, but it was the machines and the teams that designed and programmed them that were given credit for the work. That was before the AI was essentially "enslaved" by prompters.
One of the biggest problems with "ai art" now is that people are almost exclusively using the technology to avoid taking responsibility for their own creative process - they'd rather offload that work onto a computer and just take credit for the finished piece instead. There's nothing admirable left in this method, not even the fun & imaginative creativity that it takes to sit and watch randomly generated clouds and make out shapes in them.

Honestly I can tell you finding out art was made by AI really does immediately, legitimately sour it for me, like people will trot this out as a Gotcha for anti-AI people but it's just making it clear they don't consider art to be the conversation that it is lol. It's similar to the way Harry Potter immediately soured for me because engaging with it while knowing the kind of heart Rowling is writing from changes the way the work feels; there isn't any moralizing or whatever that I have to do, it's easy to drop it because it's rotted in my hands.
"Oh but you LIKED this song before, nothing changed!" The conversational partner did. A very large portion of what is interesting to me about art is thinking of why the creator chose that instrumentation, or what made them want to make the thing in the first place. Finding out I've been talking to a wall completely removes an entire third of the force that art is to me, and I can't argue that anything about art or its consumption is Objectively Correct but I can argue it's fucking boring lmao

the concept sketch vs the (almost) finished product
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made this little plush hand animal based on a tracing of my own hand and gave it a face and little pawbs, but it still needs a sweater. I'm seeking a crochet artist who can make fingerless gloves and would like to collaborate on this silly art project with me. I will trade one plushie for one glove, and then we can both have little plush friends with matching sweaters. Any takers? :3c

I Made A Goblin Mask
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's made from air-dry foam clay, scavenged trinkets, and collected junk. I didn't pay a single cent for any of the materials used to create this piece, nor have I ever had any sort of formal art training past public high school. Real art is and has always been accessible to even the poorest of the poor; "cost" is no excuse for a lack of passion.

✨️Happy Pride, y'all! ✨️🏳️‍🌈🫶🏳️‍⚧️✨️

I added some new stuff to my "Goblin Festival" illustration, and I actually like it a lot better now. Originally I had planned for this to just be an alternate version for Pride month, but now I'm considering it the complete version.

Truly I hate to do this to you all but; you can watch all the videos and read all the blogs in the world but you cannot learn to sew without at some point picking up a piece of fabric and fucking it up. No tutorial exists that will stop you at some point ruining this poor piece of cloth. The visceral act of holding a project and wondering where you went wrong is the only way to learn sewing; you cannot escape it. I’m sorry

Woolly Hog Natural Leather Plush Piggybank Purse 🥬🐖
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's 100% hand-stitched using repurposed scraps of sheepskin leather I found in a local thrift shop. He's very soft and cuddly, has a cool bronze bone charm for a zipper pull, cute plastic animal eyes, and took me weeks to finish making because I could only sew little bits at a time before needing to rest my hands, due to leather being so much tougher to sew than fabric. The inner pocket is a bit roomier than my average pig purses and can easily fit a wallet, jar of lip balm, sunglasses, and a bag of candy.
If you're interested in adopting this one-of-a-kind purse and supporting a small queer artist, please check it out on https://cabbagepigstudio.etsy.com 🥬🐖✨️

Happy Valentine's Day!
I made this plushie magpie purse as a gift for my wife. It's one of my favourite things I've ever made with my own paws. This little bird is 100% hand-stitched and took me 2 weeks of working in secret every time my wife would leave the house or go to sleep. It's got 3 zipper pockets - one in the main body, and one in each wing. The feet are designed to hold a ring so that a chain can be attached, as well as to the ring in the bird's beak, to be used as a purse strap. The ring in the beak may also be used to hold decorative charms or trinkets.
If I were to sell this at a fair price (using $15/hour as a basis) it would be like $500. Unfortunately, I will not be making this design again, partially because I want my wife's gift to be unique and special, but also because I don't feel like stitching all those details again. 😹 I might make a more simplified version in the future, though.

No, I am not 'hoarding craft supplies.' I am sourcing materials for a very big project that will be revealed to me at a later date- perhaps in a dream.

a rough sketch I did before realizing the commission was a scam lol
I'm thinking about maybe actually just finishing it for myself and selling prints or something. :3

Again, allow me to reiterate that I am a Queer Trans artist; therefore, all that I create is inherently Queer and pro-trans. I exist, and I will not be silent about my existence. I've been silenced my entire life, and now that I'm a man and have the ability to speak up for myself, I must. Sitting pretty and quietly and allowing abuse to go unchallenged is not an option. This is why I must be so diligent about setting boundaries with my art and who it's for. It's for Queers. It exists as a statement that I am Here and I am Queer and I Will Not Shut the Fuck Up, so it really can't be enjoyed by anyone who has any kind of problem with that. There is no separation between the artist and the art here.
