“I am alone now, truly alone, and absolutely isolated from any known life. I am it. If a count were taken, the score would be three billion plus two over on the other side of the moon, and one plus God knows what on this side.” —Michael Collins, Apollo 11

Anyone ever put off starting a series or getting into a new craft or activity because you're current stimuli are doing you quite nicely and you KNOW there's heaps of dopamine stored in that new thing so you're saving it for whenever your next major depressive episode hits like a pika hoarding grass for winter or do I just have severe ADHD?

You guys rlly don't realise how much knowledge is still not committed to the internet. I find books all the time with stuff that is impossible to find through a search engine- most people do not put their magnum opus research online for free and the more niche a skill is the less likely you are to have people who will leak those books online. (Nevermind all the books written prior to the internet that have knowledge that is not considered "relevant" enough to digitise).
Whenever people say that we r growing up with all the world's knowledge at our fingertips...it's not necessarily true. Is the amount of knowledge online potentially infinite? Yes. Is it all knowledge? No. You will be surprised at the niche things you can discover at a local archive or library.

It’s like shark-skin silver graу, shinу… The suit was fitted tо an inch of mу bоdу, it was like I’ve never wоrn a suit that was made sо well fоr me. But it had this kind оf high cоllar that was almоst militant… and the bоdу оf it was very andrоgуnоus and had this kind of sexless feel tо it. But there was something abоut рutting the jacket on that almost, like made me feel like I was throwing mу back оut because when I put it оn, it just sucked me intо this pоsture that became Vickers and there was sоmething abоut that jacket, when l didn’t have it оn and we’d rehearse. Ridleу would walk bу me and kind оf рull mу shоulders back, he’d be like: “Yоu’ve gоt the wоrst pоsture ever.“ And I wоuld put this jacket оn and it was just like… Vickers just came alive. - Charlize Theron [Meredith Vickers]
She is a witch. She’s reallу the ice queen. It had alwaуs been оur visiоn to make her lооk as sculptural as possible. Sо a beautiful, beautiful silk mоhair suit… in ice silver was оbviоuslу the waу tо gо. - Janty Yates [costume designer]

Been thinking about the differences between the xenomorph in Alien and the ones from Aliens, and how that fits into their biology
The original xenomorph used stealth to hunt, picked people off one by one, and used humans to create more facehugger eggs in the directors cut
The xenomorphs from Aliens have more armor, swarm their prey, and have a queen that lays facehugger eggs
Now obviously the out of universe reason is that Alien is a horror film and Aliens is an action-horror film (that and they had to put more armor on the xenos in Aliens because the costumes were fragile)
But in-universe I think the differences are because of the different circumstances the xenos were in, namely the presence of a queen and a lot of other xenos
The xenomorph in Alien was the only member of it's species in the area, and it's death would mean the loss of a chance for it's species to populate a new habitat. Because of this, the lone xeno had to be more cautious, resorting to only attacking lone prey and hiding until the area was secured. Turning prey into eggs might be a secondary reproductive tactic that xenos use if a queen is not present. This tactic is less viable because it requires prey to turn into eggs and then more prey to be infested, but it can hold them over until a queen can be created.
We saw this tactic get taken further in the game Alien: Isolation, where multiple unarmored xenomorphs had infested a large spaceship but no queen had yet been made, so the xenos still hunted alone and used stealth instead of swarm tactics
The xenomorphs in Aliens, on the other hand, have had time to establish a large presence on a planet, and do have a queen laying eggs. That means that individual xenos don't have to worry about self preservation as much, and can be a little more reckless. These xenos start displaying insect-like behavior, swarming their prey and protecting the nest. They develop more armor that might make them bulkier but also makes them more durable when swarming. This behavior is more effective with dealing with large groups of dangerous prey, as seen in Aliens
Can you tell I'm kinda autistic about these creatures?
