very sad about the world lately. part of me wants to delete all socials and stay away from news outlets to pretend all the hate and cruelty isn’t there. to just focus on what’s around me and live my day to day life. enjoy nature, my friends, my family. but another part of me instantly feels guilty for looking away and not speaking up for the injustice done to my people. I find it important to be educated on political matters but lately I feel like I can’t anymore. it’s all too much.

I think I need to watch Queer again and this time pay attention

It’s an odd thing to say the movie Queer was “baiting” because if you have seen the movie or know even the synopsis you will surely know that it is about a gay man (William Lee) who is openly gay and has relationships with men and only men. But he also has low self esteem and confidence, and his lonely af, then has a physical/emotional/even spiritual relationship with a man (guess who), all while struggling with who he is and thinking he’s unworthy of affection and love because of who and what he is, and he’s addicted to narcotics. And wants to take narcotics to develop non verbal method of communicating with the person he loves (a guy). So the deal breaker is because he’s got a narcotic addiction? pls. When the director is openly gay and wanted to make this movie since he was 17 and read the novel “Queer” by William Burroughs (who was, hold on to your hats folks, gay and Queer is a semi - biographical story by Burroughs he wrote on his experience with a guy he loved named Lewis Marker and even low key dedicated to him). If it was “baiting” as you do claim that would mean the sexuality of characters is ambiguous and never actually showing anyone to be lgbt+ or even identify or act as such in a romantic format. Lee is gay, his best friend Joe is gay, the side characters are gay, and there are small Queer clubs and bars involved, and there are none stop insights on to the lives of them in the film. The only “ambiguous one” could be Allerton. Have a nice day.

wow. I truly don’t understand the negative reviews on this. I’ve been wanting to watch this film forever now, and thank god I finally did. for the people complaining that this doesn’t portray the entire spectrum of the experience of being transgender, don’t understand that this story is a real story. based on someone’s PERSONAL life / experience. as a trans guy myself, I found certain similarities, others not so much. which is understandable. considering it’s not my story. eddie redmayne did a phenomenal job on the acting, embodying the character entirely. it might not be as progressive as many wish it would’ve been, but it’s about the story of the very first sex reassignment surgery back in 1931… ofcourse it’s not progressive. summary, I hate all you pussies and I am flabbergasted by how beautiful this film is. I will recommend it to everyone
