man, I'd love to get your work tattooed on me. It would be so cool if we got a chance to talk about how you got into calligraphy I speak and write Arabic but I live in the U.S so i don't know anyone that can teach me calligraphy.

That’s so kind of you! It’s very flattering to get messages from folks who are interested in getting my designs as tattoos. I actually got into calligraphy in a really circuitous way, my background is really more as a painter, and I always tried to incorporate some aspects of my Egyptian background in that work, but I never really had a good grasp of calligraphy. When I started really trying to get good at it though, I took an online arabic calligraphy course on Udemy and I found it really helpful! It was like $30 (I think there was a sale at the time) and I basically just practiced those lessons a million times. There’s also a lot of really helpful ones on youtube! I’d recommend that as starting point for anyone who is interested :)

A sci-fi camel based on the style of the Islamic miniature. Because the camel is known as the Ship of the Desert ( سفينة الصحراء), I imagined it as a spaceship, traversing the Martian desert. 

I want to create a whole series of these posters based on Middle Eastern animals...anyone have any ideas for what animal I should do next? Maybe a scarab beetle or jerboa? I’m open to suggestions!
