Why would I write when I could imagine my characters going through the story and then get upset when a copy of the work doesn’t magically appear in front of me

I've been posting a bit about writing and worldbuilding and stuff but there's barely any interaction so here's my little presentation, hoping for potential moots:

I've been imagining stories and writing them since I was around 10, starting with fanfics like a lot of people, except I didn't know it was called fanfics 😭

I'm now mainly writing fantasy, but I've started with polars and romances

I like reading fantasy, historical fiction, dystopia, and romance

Among my favourite books are Six Of Crows, The Cruel Prince, Hunger Games, Red White & Royal Blue

My favourite shows are Shadow & Bone, My Lady Jane, Bridgerton, Lockwood & Co, Heartbreak High

My favourite films are Pride and Prejudice (2005), Mamma Mia, Bridget Jones's Diary, Sinners, Dune, The Amazing Spider Man

I am mostly searching for mutuals who are readers or writers, but anyone is welcome on my profile as long as you say respectful

Invalid reasons for why a character should not be redeemed:

They’re too evil! - Redemption has nothing to do with how good or evil you were to begin with.

They don’t deserve it! - Redemption is not something that can be “deserved.”

Their actions are unforgivable! - Redemption has nothing to do with forgiveness.

It’s too late for them to change! - It is only “too late” to choose redemption when a character is dead (unless the scope of the story includes an afterlife in which change is possible).

Valid reasons for why a character should not be redeemed:

It doesn’t fit the themes of the story.

They’re not an important enough character for showing the process of a redemption arc to be worthwhile.

They’re more interesting as a character who isn’t doing the right thing.

It’s more satisfying to let them keep being evil.

It makes it more satisfying when they die.

There’s probably more, but you get the idea.

Remember, redemption is when someone realizes they are wrong, and takes steps to doing the right thing. That is not something that can be “deserved,” it is not something that hinges on forgiveness, and it is not something that it is ever too late for! …Unless the person is dead or something.

Are two sentences that can coexist!

"If you use em dash in your works, it makes them look AI generated. No real human uses em dash."

Imaging thinking actual human writers are Not Real because they use... professional writing in their works.

Imagine thinking millions of people who have been using em dash way before AI becomes a thing are all robots.

The most human thing a character can do is contradict themselves.

The cynic who still carries a childhood stuffed animal.

The liar who craves honesty.

The overthinker who makes reckless decisions.

The heartbreaker who believes in soulmates.

The pacifist who holds lifelong grudges.

The tough guy who cries during old movies.

The thrill-seeker who's terrified of commitment.

The grump who’s unfailingly polite to waitstaff.

People aren’t consistent. Your characters shouldn’t be either.
