Iran is, arguably, the oldest country in the world. Thousands of years of brutality and violent colonization and revolts and civil wars and more colonization cannot accurately be summarized in one history book, let alone a few paragraphs on social media by someone who has never even stepped foot in the country.

It is not humanly possible to efficiently and more importantly accurately summarize the US-Iran conflict right now. US-Iran relations began over 300 years ago (Ghazvinian, 2020), with this current conflict having begun 72 years ago in 1953 when the US and UK directly funded a coup to overthrow the last actual democracy in the country.

The people of Iran have been paying the debt of America's greed for decades. Acting like this happened "out of nowhere" is incredibly disingenuous and deeply insulting to the thousands of Iranian people who have been suffering under America's shadow for the better half of a century.
