She hovered in front of him, the toes of her boot a few feet off the ground. Carol's arms remained crossed over her chest as her face settled into a neutral state. Best to not start a mutant war, right? She'd done enough damage in space with the Skrull and Kree. The last thing she needed was another situation like that. "Look," her voice was firm. Loud enough to cross the distance towards him, but not yelling. "Atrocities, annihilation, indignities — we want to avoid them. My word may not mean much to you, but trust me on that one." The Annihilator herself knew a thing or two about these hardships and how hard they were to rectify. "We want peace. Or, as close to it as we can get."
He could feel the pulse of of the magnetic field around the city. Feel the charge of electricity and power. Feel the others similar to him and their pull on this elemental force, but it was all wrong. This place was alien. The fields, while similar, felt like night and day to his touch. God must have brought him here for reason after Asteroid M self destructed.
"I will not allow my people to suffer the same indignities and atrocities here as we were once forced to survive. This is no threat, no speech of grandstanding, but a promise."

"Not exactly helpful, but no one's blaming you." Wakanda's King seemed to be as much of a victim as anyone else in this. "We're just happy you're back, your majesty. Hopefully this is a puzzle piece falling into place and not a dead end."
"as frustrating as i might be for everyone, I have no further answers about how I got here--nor what removed me from this universe in the first place. as far as i can determine, i was displaced into another timeline during my absence just as the rest of you all have been here."

"And we're sure that you're not a Steve Rogers variant?"
"First I'm in a new time period and then I'm in a new reality. I'm nervous to find out what's coming next."

"Looks like I'm not the oldest in the room anymore." It was a joke. Carol wasn't always the oldest. If Steve, Bucky, or Thor was around, they'd have her beat. While she didn't look or feel her sixty years physically, she felt it mentally at times. Sometimes it was hard to tell if it was all the trauma she'd lived through or the old man mentality starting to creep in. Her smile faded slightly. "Captain Rogers. I've been looking for you."
"Don't you touch that radio--" steve warned. It was playing some old blues song, everyone kept telling him to download an app but he liked the scratchy static that came through the speakers. it added a bit of character. sue him for being a little nostalgic.

At this point, Carol was feeling like the damned welcoming committee. She was Captain Marvel, sure, but she had never signed up to be the Avenger's front woman. Wasn't Sam supposed to handle the greetings? Still, she shoved her hands into her coat pocket and tried to get a smile to her face.
"Kahhori. Welcome. I've heard a lot about you."

@bloodofatlantis
For some reason, she'd never considered fish people. Carol kept her heads in the stars; space felt more like home than Earth did at this point. She figured she would patrol the cosmos and Hulk could deal with the fish people. Still, here she was. Dealing with the Atlanteans.
"Carol Danvers," she introduced herself. "You must be Namor."

"That's irrelevant." Carol's eyes didn't even flicker to the object in question. It wasn't like she had much that she'd let herself be afraid of at this point. "I've been looking for you."
"what is that!?"

There was a wariness to Carol she couldn't shake. It was always one thing to the next. Kree, Thanos, more Kree, reality breaking. Even in the dead silence of space where everything seemed quiet, there was something brewing. That hadn't changed in this new reality filled with new faces.
Goose had been a conversation starter, but the Flerken was uninterested in the conversation. She stretched lazily before hopping off the desk and trotting away. Carol kept her eyes trained on the visitor. There was a moment of silence before she arched a brow. "Oh, am I going first?" She asked. "Carol Danvers. But let me guess: you knew that? Unless you're just introducing yourself to everyone here."
"Heard that." Scott tried to offer up a smile, but it faltered a bit as he continued to glance back and forth between the 'cat' and Carol. "I was just coming to introduce myself. To you, not Goose."

"You're lucky she doesn't take offense easily," Carol quipped as she mindlessly stroked behind the Flerken's ears. At his next statement, she inclined her head to the side before leaning back in her chair. "Maybe I'm alone on this, but dealing with a multiversal break has made it impossible to say that I'm not busy at any given point." Even if she wasn't in motion, the wheels in Carol's brain were turning. They were spinning and spinning and spinning as she stared at the ceiling feeling utterly useless. "Okay, hit me. Good news or bad?"
"'m not here for the cat." James insisted, pausing to let his eyes drift towards the orange 'not a cat' sitting next to Carol's feet. "I'm actually here for you, if you're not busy."

"That's a shame. She's got a great personality. Also, not a cat." Carol reached out to shake the man's hand with a smile. "Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel." After they parted, it was an automatic default for her hands to find their home on her hips as Carol took her usual stance with her feet planted. "When it feels like the world is ending and reality is crumbling, I guess we forget to cover the basics. It's nice to officially meet you, Charles. You're with the X-Men, correct?" Even if they hadn't met, Carol had done her research. A new species that wasn't in her reality? There was no shot she was flying anymore in the dark than she was already being forced to.
"I didn't come here to meet with the cat, so I think I'm in the clear." Charles quipped back with a small smile as he reached up towards Carol with his hand extended for a shake. "Professor Charles Xavier. I don't believe we've officially introduced ourselves yet."

"It's a long story." Carol shook her head. At least things could come back out of the pocket dimension that was nestled in the small, furry body. Carol made a small tsking sound, and the Flerken came sashaying over. "Common misconception. She's a Flerken. They're a dangerous alien species that looks like cats. But, hey. They make surprisingly great company." It was nice to not have to be alone in space. Goose could ride on her shoulder and Carol could have a companion.
"Did you just say tentacles?" Miles' eyes widened slightly as his brows furrowed down at the orange cat below them. "She looks like a cat to me."

"Real enough to suck in a full-sized human man with." And, on occasion, spit them back out. "Looks can be deceiving. She is a Flerken, not a cat. And, before you ask, no. She's not going to eat you. Unless you give her a reason to."
"... like, real tentacles? He sure looks like a cat to me."

"You've never struck me as the pet type," Carol remarked casually. She hadn't been either pre-Goose. "Based on that tone, I'm guessing it's nothing good. Or, maybe I'm paranoid because people only come to me when the world is ending. Regardless, what's going on?"
Stephen was almost tempted to ask about the tentacles, but he bit his tongue as he straightened his shoulders. "I'm not here to pet any cats. I actually wanted to talk to you."

"In the mouth." Carol held up her hand by her lips and splayed her fingers as a visual. "They shoot out. Don't worry. It's fine." Goose mewed from her spot on the couch where she had spread out. "Can I help you with something?"
He was too stunned that Captain Marvel was here for a moment to speak, but the word tentacles snapped him back to reality. "I'm sorry, what? Tentacles? Where?"

"You want to get out of here for a second?"
Carol was, in her core, not great with others. Her bullheaded determination and preference for self-punishment when she felt she failed had alienated far too many over the years. This time, however, she was determined to do better. Kamala wasn't Monica. Carol couldn't get the time she had lost back, but she could make time now.
"It's nothing big," she reassured the younger hero. "Some patrol. I'll have you home by dinner."

"You've known me for how many years? Thirty now?" Carol shook her head. "That's a long time, Fury. All I'm saying is that a card could've gone a long way."

"Actually, I wouldn't recommend getting any closer. Goose is..." Carol glanced towards the Flerken. "Not actually a cat. There's enough going on without bringing tentacles into the mix."
