Today’s Native/Indigenous Character is Kahhori from the upcoming Season 2 of Marvel’s What If?
Kahhori is of the Mohawk Tribe from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
RIP Joanne Shenandoah, who worked hard to get this character made. I don’t care if season 2 ever comes out, i love Kahhori.

Controversial opinion but Captain Carter's presence should not have extended past season 1 of What If. While I have enjoyed this version of Peggy, not only does the series not need a main recurring character, it shouldn't be going back to the SAME version of the character again and again. The fun of What If is getting something, or someone, new each episode and the 3 episodes that Captain Carter was the focus of this season could've easily been used to spotlight some other female superheroes.
For example, it should been Captain Marvel who Wanda summoned in 1602 instead. That would've been a really nice moment for her, especially since outside of her movies, all she gets are cameos. Wanda herself could've teamed up with Kahhori in the finale to fight Supreme Strange for a twisted reversal of Multiverse of Madness. The Hydra Stomper episode could've been about Shuri, She-Hulk, Kamala, Yelena, anybody else really. The point is just something different.
Anyways, I'm hoping that they put this version of the character to rest and move on in season 3 because there are plenty of other characters that deserve the screentime.

Kahhori (from yesterday's What If? episode) genuinely feels like a Golden-Age comic book hero to me - she just punches conquistadors instead of Nazis.
Like, she's defined by her strong moral code. She inspires people in her life in a very "and you too, viewer, can also stand up to injustice in YOUR life" way. She's OP in a fun way. In an era where superhero tropes are often being subverted or addressed in meta-aware ways (to the point where "superhero film" is pretty often used as a synonym for "action film with quippy Whedon-inspired writing"), it's really cool to see a hero like Kahhori who embraces the original archetype while bringing her own culture and unique backstory to the role IMO.
Now, uh, someone please give her a comic...

I just watched todays What If and holy shit
I love how they took advantage of the format to introduce completely new characters. Combine the fact that most of the entire episode is spoken in only a native language (don’t know which one exactly unfortunately), and the story of “Native American superheroine gets powers, prevents Native American genocide by exterminating all the colonizers, and browbeating all the European monarchs into submission” is way ballsier then I was ever expecting a marvel show to get. Like holy crap, can every single mcu property have this energy from now on?

God forbid there be two Native American superheroes in the same franchise without people going "are they related?"
It's like saying "Spidey and Thor are secretly related cause they're both white" Do realise how fucking stupid that sounds?!?
Same shit happened when we got Black Panther and suddenly every black person was a secret Wakandan.
Why can't y'all be normal when it comes to PoC superheroes.

Captain Carter: So you must've been using your powers to fight off the british yes?
Kahhori: No I was fighting the Spanish. Why, what did the British do in your timeline? Captain Carter:

Doctor Strange Supreme
Tumblr media
Okay, so let’s talk about Doctor Strange Supreme from “What if?”. He really had a good start with his story, becoming Master of the Mystic Arts after losing Christine Palmer instead of losing the usage of his hands. (Since Christine is more important to him than his career in that universe). We all know how episode 4 from season 1 went, where he absorbed various interdimensional beings in order to attain enough power to alter the past and resurrect her. He succeeded even if others tried to warn him of the consequences and as soon as he resurrected Christine, the universe was falling on itself.
(Mind you, he managed to delay the collapsing universe with his powers for some good minutes. He even created a pocket dimension. 💀)
Tumblr media
He realized his mistakes (even if it was too late) and more consequently, he regrets his actions.
“The world shouldn’t pay for my arrogance.”
“Punish me. Not the world. Not Christine.”
He has been left alone in that void for God knows how long and while he could have gotten out, he didn’t. He stayed there, making the pocket dimension his own prison. (Probably thinking of every single mistake he had done.)
Tumblr media
Now let’s talk about episode 9 from season 1, where he literally went toe to toe with Infinity Ultron. (When the Watcher tried to fight him, he was literally losing but Doctor Strange Supreme managed to hold his ground and literally defeat Infinity Ultron).
Tumblr media
But what I really want to talk about is when Killmonger tried to persuade Stephen into taking the infinity stones so that he could remake his universe and have Christine back. He could have easily taken them and just make his wish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But he didn’t. He accepted his ‘punishment’ to guard the pocket dimension he made for Infinity Ultron and Killmonger, stating that it wasn’t really a punishment since he didn’t have to lose anything anymore. (He called the Watcher a friend too😭). But basically what I’m trying to get to, he said that he moved on. He had his redemption arc.
Tumblr media
Now we’re back with episode 9 from season 2. Like what the actual hell. Why would he go through all that trouble when he could have gotten the infinity stones in the first place like..make it make sense. And don’t get me started on Peggy Carter and Kahhori. How did they even defeat Doctor Strange Supreme (what in the plot armour was this) like come on? Stephen fought Infinity Ultron and didn’t lose, but lost to Peggy Carter when she had the stones? She even punched him while he was in his monster form. 🙃
Yeah and about Kahhori. She is powerful but not that powerful.
To be honest, they should have left him have that ending from the season 1 finale if they didn’t have ideas for him anymore. Not literally make him the villain and kill him off.💀💀
But that’s Marvel for all of you.
