The more I realise how important illustration is to me. The more I realise I need to get back into the habit of drawing. No better place to start than from doodles :)

2013 Greetings Card...In Progress
As I've mentioned on my twitter, I plan to be releasing design mocks of Greeting cards.
I will be having a go at designing Cards for the first time, on a professional level. This has been inspired from my growing fascination with Surface Design. It's still early days but, fingers cross I manage to debut some designs right in time for Valentine's Day. So I could sell them via my ebay account. Can't Wait!
I'll be looking at various themes for inspiration from Art Deco to to Brit Pop. Still in it's very early stages though.
Sadly, I can't start work on the project this week due to a deadline (for a soul consuming module), but soon as that's out of the way.

Dropr I Love You!
I got an email, from someone (utter random) to join this new online portfolio network called dropr. It's definately something that has been created for designers and artists in mind considering the layout and versatility it offers in comparison to other sites (trust me I've been through them all so I know).
Anyway I definately would recommend this site! especially for Illustrators and Graphic Artists!

To Blog or Not to Blog...
Yes I admit in these recent months, I have been a tad bit...blog shy.
The reason for this because I have been personally put off by the idea of blogging recently, due to my course embodying "an individual blog" section as assessment criteria for part of a module.
Call me a cynic but...
Doesn't this simply defeats the whole purpose of a "personal" blog?
Its suppose to be about YOUR THOUGHTS, opinions and ideals. Your reactionary journal to the surrounding world.
Not what an academic has told you what to write or what your topic should be. Would you tell someone what to write on their facebook page? No.
I remember what a third year Fine Art student told me, when I explained to her my course's stance on this issue. Her reaction was "I couldn't do that, blogging is something that should occur naturally". This same student is dubbed a "blogging goddess" by her tutor who follows her tumblr blogs.

Quote
"A real typeface needs rhythm, needs contrast, it comes from handwriting, and that's why I can read your handwriting, you can read mine. And I'm sure our handwriting is miles away from Helvetica or anything that would be considered legible, but we can read it, because there's a rhythm to it, there's a contrast to it. Helvetica hasn't got "any" of that."
