I need me a Tim who, when confronted by Jason at the titans tower, is, though still having his attitude™️, so completely willing to give back robin.
I need me a Tim that is like “oh, it’s Jason, he’s the red hood… kinda sucks I don’t get to be robin anymore but everyone will be so happy.”
I need a Tim who loves being Robin, who loves being in the manor, even though he knows he isn’t really family.
Give me a Tim who remembers how Batman was before and how much he loves his children, and that’s all it takes to remind himself that he was never included in that category; that he was just a temporary fix, a tool to keep Batman away from the edge.
Give me a Tim that used to watch Bruce, both as a Wayne, and as Batman, so he when he became Robin, he had hoped, just for a minute, that this meant he could have a family, a parent who paid attention to him. But it was only for a minute, and he knew better anyway.
Give me a Tim who has known, has been so intrinsically aware, that he was a replacement.
A Tim that was ok with that because it meant he was useful.
So much so that when Jason first revealed himself, he was a little relieved. And then guilty because he shouldn’t feel like that, he loved being Robin… he was just kind of sick of being “Tim”
Tim- a soldier, a babysitter to a grown man, someone put in charge of making sure that grown man didn’t kill himself or others.
Tim- a tool to fight with and to use before sending back, back to an empty house and cold rooms.
Tim- who was so desperate to help the family that he had been previously living vicariously through, that even while being beat up, was happy that Jason was back.
Because that meant they could be happy again, sure, Jason was the red hood, he broke Batman’s number one rule, but it’s Jason, and Bruce missed him so much, had grieved him so hard, surely he would be forgiven?
Well probably, hopefully. Batman still hadn’t forgiven Tim for almost killing captain boomerang. But this was Jason, his actual son, this was the boy who’s named he whispered on especially bad days.
Tim was happy about this, he really was.

Some work scribbles
Wanted to draw some pigeons today, low effort practice for a project I’m working on that I may or may not ever finish
I find I get better when I use pen for scribbles since it helps me not be a perfectionist
The page with the buff one was drawn by some coworkers
I might start putting some drawings here but I’m not that good at consistency

I’ve been watching Danny Phantom and I get it. I get it now.
This show loves to make some offhanded comment, not a hint of consideration or concern in its tone, and just moves on without addressing it like that wasn’t the most creatively horrific concept this side of Nickelodeon. Shit makes up wackass lore on the spot and then disregards it immediately after, asks fascinating questions then looks at you funny when you try to answer them.
I now fully understand how this show has legions of fans dedicated to taking this somewhat mid cartoon and running so far with the implications of the premise they created an entirely different show that’s so much more interesting I’m upset it’s not real.

Danny, walking into the kitchen, drenched head to toe in something suspiciously red: Hey, Alfred? I'm really sorry, I think I stained the carpet.
Dick, doing a double take, through a mouthful of cereal: ...Is that blood?
Danny: That depends on where you lick it.
Dick: wha-
Tim, who was on his way to get some coffee, casually licking Danny's cheek: Strawberry jam.
Danny, turning the other cheek: Blood is on this side, yeah.
Alfred: If I may ask, which side did you stain the carpet with?
Dick, resuming his breakfast: I've just decided I don't want to know, for once.

“Kill shelters” are the shelters you need to donate to.
“But shrimp!! Kill shelters are evil!!”
No, shut up, listen to me for a second.
“Kill shelter” is a colloquial term used primarily for Town/City (aka municipal) shelters that rely on incredibly limited government grant funding to operate.
These shelters, by the very nature of their existence, DO NOT HAVE the funds to operate like private rescues do.
On top of this, they’re also *legally required* to take in ANY animal that comes to them. Even if they’re full. Or they’ll lose all of their funding.
This is what leads them to needing to euthanize for space. Is euthanizing for space sad? Yes. But due to the current crisis, it’s also NECESSARY.
These shelters are constantly overfull. They’re STRUGGLING. They don’t have the funds to operate properly. And yet these municipal, government funded, struggling shelters are the same ones that are most likely to be providing care for owned animals in the community
Municipal (“kill”) shelters are the ones hosting low cost spay and neuter clinics. They’re the ones discounting vaccination appointments and microchipping. They’re the ones that have pet food banks so struggling pet owners can feed their pets that week.
These shelters are not evil. They’re doing the absolute best they can with the bare minimum funding they get.
These people are incredibly resourceful and care very deeply about the animals in their care. It breaks their heart every time they have to euthanize an animal that couldn’t get adopted.
These underfunded shelters need your money significantly more than that fancy private rescue you see on TikTok or instagram that has a beautiful facility and has never had to euthanize an animal ever.
Support your local shelters and they will give back to the community thousand fold.
Sincerely, an animal welfare student who’s tired of seeing the hardest working professionals shat on because of circumstances they can’t control.

Is it unreasonable of me to be against kill shelters? People say they're needed but I dunno..I do not agree with them at all.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable as a position, it just depends what you mean by 'against.' I am principally against kill shelters too; animals should not be killed unless it is in their best interests because they would otherwise be in pain that could not be adequately treated or managed. It is easy to approve of no-kill shelters for this reason, they do great work, and it's why they enjoy so much more public suppport.
Practically though, I know that kill shelters have to exist because there is no other viable alternative in a world where we continue to buy and breed animals despite thousands of them needing a home. The public don't want kill shelters, but they also don't seem to want to stop breeding and buying animals as if they were a commodity.
Keep in mind that no-kill shelters tend to only take on animals they know they are likely to be able to re-home, leaving the kill shelters to take the rest. Where do those animals go, if there is no one else who will take them? If no-kill shelters received better funding they could essentially function as animal sanctuaries, but that would be extremely expensive given the sheer scale of the pet overpopulation crisis, and is unlikely to happen any time soon.
I am against breeding animals who are clearly overpopulated, I am against selling them, and I am for requirements to neuter, micro-chipp and enforce licencing for all cats and dogs. I am also against killing animals who do not need to die, but until some of these changes are made, objecting to kill shelters is just a bit meaningless when we can't solve any of the problems that are the reason they exist.
