This is what I look like when I'm working, apparently. Quarantine has made me much more comfortable with my own appearance without makeup. Thanks @continuous_michael for taking this. A very belated, massive thank you to everybody so far that has supported my last release. I am so, so grateful for that. Shout out to @bandcamp who are waiving their revenue shares today so all proceeds go directly to artists! 🖤 With that in mind I have decided to donate the proceeds of my last EP #livemeknot to two causes I believe in strongly: @_beamorg - a movement dedicated to creating a world where there are no barriers to Black healing and an amazing resource: @masi_movement_asylum_seekers to assist with direct provision in Ireland to provide justice, freedom and dignity to all asylum seekers. We all have the ability to influence positive change and if you have resources to spare, please look into donating to any of the many, many causes. Listen. Read. Educate. Sign petitions. @naacp is a great starting point. It may not be comfortable reading but it is well overdue. Join online and live protests while staying as safe as possible. Document where you can and try to interrogate any media you absorb. Call your local government. Email them, send them a letter if you can. Anybody wants to buy anything off my Bandcamp page today, I'll donate that too. Today, before the announcement of further restrictions due to #covid19, I finally got my beloved violin back. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everybody who helped me make that possible, supported me and also thank you to Crehan's musical instruments for doing such a wonderful job. . For those who don't know, I had an accident last September which resulted in my violin having a broken neck. I was devastated and luckily was able to get it repaired, finally getting back now, in the midst of a pandemic, to hear that tone I love so much. (I need to change the strings 😅). It felt like the end of a quest. . I have been in recovery for a host of other reasons the last few months and this feels like a milestone. . My violin is 100 years old this year. It was made in Paris in 1920. There are some traditions that say an instrument gets its soul after 100 years. I'm not sure I'd agree but I am happy it has made it this far and stayed with me through the years and continents, my near-constant companion, listener, and love. Recently I have felt the wish to give hope again. I will be posting more and I want to hear from you. I hope you are all as safe as can be, that you and your loved ones are well. Hope is an anchor. Briefly, I returned to the ocean and restored a little of myself. We shall see if it's enough. It's always your favourite doodles that are on the scrap paper while travelling, but what the heck. Idea I intend to develop for 12:12:12 this week, combining ivy, butterfly and scorpion. Was working on beats on the flight to San Diego today, even if I don't have my violin I am still working on new ideas.
