Hey — I just wanted to clarify so as to ensure that I’m not crossing any boundaries. I’m realizing many of your mods also have endogenic supporters on their DNIs, and that you really focus more on the anti-endo aspect than the CDD aspect in your marketing. I’m not an endogenic plural myself, but I am considered a supporter. Should I unfollow? (Genuine question; sorry if this is crossing any lines)
We allow endo supporters to interact so long as fhey themselves are still traumagenic!
We are simply a resource for those who are traumagenic (pwCDDs).
I apologize for any confusion!

Amnesia
How does amnesia differ between PTSD and DID?
People with PTSD experience amnesia for traumatic memories. This means that their brain blocks out traumatic memories that they do not wish to remember, re-experience, or think of. This is a way for the brain to protect itself from distress due to these memories.
So how does it differ from DID? Since DID also forms alongside PTSD (in most cases), both disorders experience amnesia. However, DID experiences it to a much more extreme extent. Individuals with DID does not only experience amnesia for traumatic memories, but also between switches between different headmates. They most commonly experience amnesia that can be seen as forgetfulness and is often perceived as such. Amnesia in DID also includes forgetting of important life events such as weddings, childbirth. THE DSM-5:
"The dissociative amnesia of individuals with dissociative identity disorder manifests in three primary ways: as 1) gaps in remote memory of personal life events (e.g., periods of childhood or adolescence; some important life events, such as the death of a grandparent, getting married, giving birth); 2) lapses in dependable memory (e.g., of what happened today, of well-learned skills such as how to do their job, use a computer, read, drive); and 3) discovery of evidence of their everyday actions and tasks that they do not recollect doing (e.g., finding unexplained objects in their shopping bags or among their possessions; finding perplexing writings or drawings that they must have created; discovering injuries; “coming to” in the midst of doing something)." "Dissociative fugues, wherein the person discovers dissociated travel, are common. Thus, individuals with dissociative identity disorder may report that they have suddenly found themselves at the beach, at work, in a nightclub, or somewhere at home (e.g., in the closet, on a bed or sofa, in the corner) with no memory of how they came to be there. Amnesia in individuals with dissociative identity disorder is not limited to stressful or traumatic events; these individuals often cannot recall everyday events as well."

Basic system terminology!
What is a system?
A system is a grouping of distinct identities (usually referred to alters, headmates or parts) that share a single brain and body. This forms due to trauma in early childhood due to the identity fragments not being able to integrate properly, and instead stay distinct to protect the body and mind. This is a symptom of CDD's, or complex dissociative disorders.
Systems may experience:
- Amnesia between parts Differs between PTSD amnesia, where for CDD's the amnesia is very often and frequent, day to day amnesia, and not just forgetting of traumatic memories - Switching between parts - Internal communication - Unique innerworlds or headspaces Innerworlds is a common visualization technique used in therapy and is not limited to patients with CDD's - Different ages, genders, skills and preferences across parts Important note: Not all systems experience all of this!
Common terms
- Part/Alter/Headmate: Used to refer to a part in the system - System: A collective of parts - Biggies, middles, littles: Ages within the system. Age ranges vary, but littles tend to be 0-13, middles 14-19, and biggies are generally any adult part - Fronting: Whoever is in control of the body - Introject: A part sourced off of an outside media - Source: The media an introject is sourced off of
Other terms
- Polyfragmented: (edited) Refers to a system that has complex system structures, as well as many fragmented parts, can also be called "C-DID" - Fragment: Parts that are not yet fully formed - Blurry: Referring to when a system does not know/it is hard to tell who's in front - Body: Used by systems to refer to the body they share collectively - Singlet: Referring to someone who is not a system - Headspace: Referring to an inner world where members can talk to each other This term does not apply to systems only, singlets can have headspaces too! - Fronting: When a member is controlling the body - Fronting Room: A place where headmates can control the body (not all systems have this) - Co-conscious: Referring to multiple headmates being active at once Not all will be fronting or in control of the body - Co-fronting: Refers to two or more headmates fronting at once Different from co-con. because all headmates present are in control of the body - Switching: Referring to the current fronter(s) change - Dormancy: Referring to a system member being inactive - Split: Refers to when a new headmate forms Can break up an existing headmate, split off, or be unknown - Source: Refers to where a headmate is based from Connection to source can be strong or weak - Fictive: An introject sourced off of specifically fictional media Books, TV Shows, Movies, Video games, Fandoms, ect. - Factive: An introject sourced off of specifically real media Celebrities, Music Artists, in general real life people - Host: Headmate who fronts the most or has the most system responsibility! - Co Host: Headmate similar that is like a “backup” host - Persecutor: Headmate who acts harmfully to other members, body, or others A misguided protector - Prosecutor: Similar to a persecutor though displays outwards aggression - Protector: Refers to a headmate whose job is to protect the system/headmates Can be from physical or mental harm - Caretaker: Refers to a headmate whose job is to care for/assist the system/members Most commonly seen with littles, but they can care for the body as a whole
Important note
Not everything listed here is necessary or always seen in systems! All systems function differently and do not have or experience everything listed here.

Amnesia & Our Experiences With It
So, this is more of a personal post, but I wanted to talk about our experiences with amnesia, especially covert amnesia.
I must preface that we are an OSDD system, so our experiences may not match those with DID. Plus, every system is unique!
So, what is amnesia? Amnesia is when you lack memories of something that has happened. In the context of systems, this usually occurs when one alter switches out for another, where the now fronting alter doesn't remember much of the previous front.
For us, though, we tend to remember some of the previous front. Except, when we try to think back on what we've done the past few hours, nothing comes to mind.
For us, amnesia seems more covert. We don't realize that we've forgotten anything until we try to remember. Unlike how people often talk about blackouts where you're suddenly conscious and don't remember a think from before, we seem to blend into one another, slowly switching, which means we remember the end of the previous front.
We tend to experience greyouts as well, where we know what happened in the previous front but we don't remember doing it.
It's strange. Amnesia, to us, feels like we're constantly in a dream.
Grounding techniques don't work and we tend to only get memories from previous fronts randomly.
Though, I can say that using Twinote has been helping a little bit. Being able to talk to one another through it has made it easier to simply ask what happened, though even the previous fronter may not remember.
It probably doesn't help that we're frequently blurry, because when you dissociate, you tend to not encode memories of what's happening around you.
Hopefully someone finds this post to be comforting in knowing that you're not alone in this constant battle!

Internal Communication
First, what is internal communication?
Internal communication is when you communicate with other parts/alters within your system! This is important because it helps everyone in your system stay up to date on things like boundaries, responsibilities, and external knowledge like relationships or jobs.
How can I communicate with others in my system?
There's a few ways to communicate with your headmates, so it is best to try a few. Some that we recommend are using external methods (such as apps) and relying on non-verbal communication.
Personally, we don't communicate with eachother via thoughts. Though, some systems do.
Tips for verbal communication:
Send thoughts inwards (for example l, you could think "hello, is anyone there?" and try to listen for a response or notice any bodily changes)
Speak out loud (if safe to do so)
Tips for non-verbal communication:
Pay attention to gut feelings or urges that don't feel like your own
Tips for external communication:
Use apps such as Twinote, Simply Plural, or a private discord server.
Try journaling and allowing the words to come to you naturally and notice if what you write seems like it belongs to someone else
Leave visual reminders such as sticky notes
Why aren't I getting any responses?
Building trust and experience in internal communication takes time. Some alters may not feel comfortable responding while in other cases internal communication is a skill that needs to be built.
Be patient with yourself and your system!
Don't try to force anyone to respond and simply allow others to become more comfortable with communicating!
--------
Hopefully this is helpful to someone out there and if you have any questions regarding this, feel free to send in an ask to this blog!
