I THOUGHT my budgie was acting weird because he was sick. Turns out, SHE just laid eggs. Congrats to Nightwing on being a mama.

We’re going to take her to the vet today and swap the eggs out for fakes soon.

Please keep your pets (specifically cats) indoors, regardless of the time of day. robin is not the only thing that might carry off your pet. Coyotes, foxes, hawks, and large enough snakes will all gladly take a bite out of your pet. not to mention, house cats are disastrous for local populations of small animals such as songbirds. gotham is full of other hazards such as polluted water, cars, villain attacks, toxic gasses, rouge magic users, generational curses plaguing the land, and weather such as the current heatwave. this is a PSA to anyone who sees this: Keep your cat indoors.

If you ever adopt a pet, keep it indoors after lights out. Robin often steals unsupervised pets.

Thank you, @bunnyinatrenchcoat, for the heads-up. Solid advice. Also—you totally reminded me: I’ve been meaning to check the pet policy. Jules and I talked it over, and we’ve officially decided we’re going out tomorrow to find me a suitable fluffy roommate.

Don’t worry—I’ll be adhering to your warning once they’re home. The last thing I need is for Robin to decide I’m an unfit guardian and go full Bat-burglary on my pet. (I already love my future hypothetical animal.)

Here’s a snippet of the Gotham University Pet Policy for anyone else interested:

Permitted Animals Residents may keep the following pets in campus housing, with prior approval: • Fish (non-aggressive species only, tanks up to 10 gallons) • Small caged animals (hamsters, guinea pigs, geckos) • Cats, but only in designated pet-friendly dorms • Dogs under 45 lbs, but only in off-campus university-managed apartments • Registered Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) with documentation

Note: ESA requests go through Disability Services + Housing. 

Prohibited Animals • Snakes, spiders, ferrets, and other exotic species • Birds of any size (noise complaints) • Large dogs or aggressive breeds • Predatory animals (yes, this includes “rescued” bats) • Any animal affiliated with a vigilante, supervillain, or known crime syndicate

The heatwave is yet another environmental hazard to your cats. Please, keep them inside where YOU can keep an eye on them. the outside world and rank gotham air are not safe for cats, and your cat isnt safe for the local environment. for your cats sake, please keep it inside.
