Everyone is like, "We want a Finnick book!" "We want a Joanna book!"
DO WE REALLY?!
I feel like it's a guarantee that what those two went through is gonna top anything weve read so far, and after seeing the aftermath of SOTR I'm not sure were ready like we think we are.
My theory is that if we do get books on those two, it would be less focus of the games and more focused on the aftermath. We all know about Finnick being trafficked by the Capitol and Joanna refusing to be trafficked. Exploring these eras with these two is going to be a GUT PUNCH.

Remember when I said I'd be posting more? Yea,h I got a corprorate 9-5 lmfaoooo. Luckily, though, I work out of my own home 50% of the time, so that's good! As for posting, I really pick and choose which books I want to review, and Poppy War will definitely be one of them when I finish! That should be my next posting, and it will definitely be before the month ends!
But I want to do more with this account. But while i figure that out ill be making smaller posts about random book thoughts!

SOTR Yapp Sesh Part 2!
Hello, once again, this is going to be part two of my Sunrise on the Reaping review. This is going to be all about the actual games themselves. All right, let's goooooo.
Everything is too pretty, that is like the first thing that came to my mind when I was reading the description that Haymitch had in his head of the arena. Everything is bright and lush, tall Grass forest trees everywhere, just everything looks beautiful, clear blue skies, you can see the water in the background, and everything is just clear and nice. That is pretty much how I envisioned Wonderland as a kid. I knew that something is up and the first thing that tipped me off to anything being wrong was the the smell was like one of the first things that he described when he went into the arena it was like he fell into a haze or something like that I just KNEW this is going to be some sort of psychedelic type thing. Microdosing at its finest.
And then in the first review, didn't really mention his whole deal with Amphert and Beetee about you know destroying the arena, cuz I wanted it to include it more in this part. Haymitch immediately starts on this mission. He goes straight north. He was trying to look for the berms and stops by a stream, he takes a sip and it tastes funny to him, kinda like metallic, which he pretty much shrugs off, UNTIL he sees a rabbit take a sip too, and what does it do? The rabbit dies like instantly. Just drops dead.
THAT'S WHERE WE FIND OUT EVERYTHING IS POISONED.
All the pretty fruit on the trees, poison, the water, poison, flowers, probably poisonous. But Haymitch got lucky because he had some charcoal on him, otherwise, he would have died. If it were ME, yeah, I for sure would have been cooked ngl. So after throwing up his guts a nd suffering for a few hours, Haymitch kinda just locks tf in and finds a blueberry bush to hide in. And through the bushes, he can see the sky, so when night falls, he can see who all got killed during the bloodbath.
Also, the fact that he didnt run into anybody at this point is amazing because he for sure would have been killed.
Man, I knew someone was gonna die in the blood batch, but I was NOT expecting WYATT CALLOW. OH MY GOSH????????????????????????? Sunrise on the Reaping is not a long book by any means, and we didnt have a lot of chances to form a bond with Wyatt, but it's so surreal that on the first day, one of the District Twelve's own got killed.
And Haymith's comment to Wyatt's parents saying, “Did you bet on your boy?” Oh my gosh. At some point, Wyatt was asked about his own odds, because that was his thing, he's an oddsmaker, and he was like, “Oh, I wouldn't count on me.” I wonder what he thought, did he think his dad and brothers bet against him???????? This is so insidious, like a sibling or parent, even if you knew his odds aren't good, should you still bet against him or root for him as some sort of encouragement, PLEASEEEEE. That boy probably thought his family didnt care about him. I'm sobbing.
Boom next morning and Haymitch just hears a little teeny weeny voice saying “Find haymitch.” He looks over and heres Lou Lou of all people staring at him. Turns out the bush was very see through and Haymitch being alive was pure LUCK. But also……….how did Lou Lou make it all the way to him by herself and not a scratch on her?? And now He’s gotta pretty much take care of her but like…..how…… The kids are lucky for now.
I have thoughts about a moment from earlier about Lulu in particular, when they were on their way to the arena, and she was recognized by another girl from 11 cuz the girl was singing and then Lulu started singing that same song. Then, another moment before that, when they were all eating together, just the tributes from District 12, and it was Mags who pointed out she was specifically reaching for a roll with seeds made in District 11. This poor, poor baby, Lou Lou, is special to me.
Other than the poisoning, so far so good, he's found the berm, he's on his way now, he's just looking for a way to you know blow up the brain, but he has to keep Lou Lou in line because as we found out on day 1. Everything can kill you, he's using up all his food just to keep her distracted. Lou Lou ends up seeing these flowers, which she seems very familiar with, and she gets excited. I'm assuming these flowers they had in 11, but she goes head first into them, and pollen just wafts into her face before Haymitch can even grab her. And just like everything else in the area, this pollen was poisonous. She is coughing and choking, and there's nothing Haymitch can do, and she's SUFFERING. I failed to mention the gadget on her chest that sedates her when she gets out of line, but Haymitch essentially begs them to sedate her so she won't be in pain, but they DON'T, THEY WANT THIS LITTLE GIRL TO SUFFER. Haymitch has to then make the horrific decision to grip the machine and rip it out of her own chest, killing her………..Coriolanus snow when I get my hands on you….
How could you do something like this? It was speculated that her parents might have been rebels, but it doesn't matter; this girl was innocent and young, and she suffered. He tries to hide her body, but he gets swarmed but these stinging butterflies, and he is pretty much forced to drop her and let them take her body.
Soon enough, we see Amphert again, they began enacting the plan to make this place go kaboom and once it hits midnight its in motion. They had successfully bombed the water tank in the berm but Haymitch had been stuck trying to get out and when he finally did the worst part of the book happened.
He couldn't find Amphert. Not until he saw the golden squirrels attacking the poor boy, Haymitch tried to help, but the squirrels are programmed just for Amphert so they don't pay him any mind, and by then it's too late. Once the squirrels scatter, all that is left is pearly white bone. No meat, no blood, no tissue, just Amphert's little skeleton. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM MEEEEEEEE. I can't imagine how Beetee felt tho have his son torn apart like that in front of him………Snow….you will be dealt with.
Haymitch, reasonably, crashes out a wreaks the arena, and the game makers thought, “Hmmm, not enough drama.” and they make the volcano explode. Haymitch, of course being our unlucky lucky boy, lives because the lava doesn't actually burn you. He gets the bright idea to try to break out of the area, so he heads north and finds the hedge maze. It started out okay, but then he panicked because he realized he didnt know how to get out, and essentially freaked out until he followed a rabbit out. You would think to yourself, now he gets a break, well, no lol. He gets ambushed by Panache, Barba, and Angler. He manages to kill Barba and Angler in his first non-mercy kills of the game, but Panache disarms him and was about to cleave Haymitch's head open until our favorite diva Maysilee, saves the day, she takes Panache out with a poison dart like the queen she is.
Pause. This is where we find out that the only reason Wyatt died was because he protected Lou Lou from Panache. Wyatt Callow, I will always think about you MY SHAYLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
The two team up, considering that's all they can do and they search for Wellie one of the smaller children from the alliance bc shes still alive. But as we all know there are no breaks here, they are once again ambushed but this time by Silka and Mariette but they also run into some Gamemakers????
Pause here.
Why in the world are you cleaning up the arena mid-game LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. That cant wait until its over?????? Like what was the thought process here for real. Pre-Katniss Hunger Games seem so awfully put together i cant.
Fast forward some dialog, Mariette and Maysilee each kill a game maker and the thrid one dies falling head first into the berm to try to escape, and each group goes their separate ways after the capital drops small bombs to get them to clear out.
Maysilee is pisssssed at Haymitch bc bro kinda froze but like lets give him grace hes seen crazy stuff back to back to back. Everyday he has to essentially roulette on which of his friends die today.  Being that theres onyl 5 tributes left Maysilee and Haymitch split, but as you all know the capitol wont let this slide.
Birds, I personally envisioned flamingos, but other folks thought of pink spoonbills but either way our queen Maysille got attacked by birds made just for her with razor beaks. They fended them off till one caught her throat and down goes our fav. I hate you snow.
Mariette dies too, so now there's only Wellie, Haymitch, and the biggest hater ever, Silka. We find Wellie, yayyyyyyy, but she's near death in a tree noooooooo. Haymitch does what he can that night by securing them both in the tree and feeding her chocolate he got from a sponsor. During the night, Silka finds the tree too, but she doesn't see them, instead, she slumps down and just sobs, and I feel so bad because even the career tributes are victims, let's remember this. He drops down a piece, and Silka eats it. At this moment, these three kids aren't tributes, they're just kids, and I feel so awful because come tomorrow, we know Haymitch will be the only one left.
Silka decapitated Wellie the next day. Haymitch had left for one second to see what he could do about the area, and when he turned around, Silka held the poor girl's head in her hand. Thisi s when the last few minutes of the games start. Silka and Haymitch are going blow for blow, both injured, but Haymitch famously uses the force field surrounding the area to kill Silka by ducking and having her own ax thrown back at her. He won that it book over…….
Oh no.. there's more.
Haymitgch decides to blow everything to smithereens as hes bleeding out, he uses the last of the supplies he had from Amphert to blow up the arena and he passes out. Some time later he wakes up in the capitol and is ket alve there for a few days before the victory tour. Snow gives him an ominous “Happy Homecomming.” gosh I hate that man.
After the very traumatising victory tour, he's finally headed back home along with the bodies of Louella, Maysile, and Wyatt. Lord knows what they've done with Lou Lou’s body, I'm not even sure she has a family to bring the body back to.
He gets home, and everything is surreal; he's walking to his house in a daze till he sees all the commotion. His home is on fire, with his mom and his brother still stuck inside. Snows doing. He tries to go in to help even if it's too late, but he's held down by Burdock, and Asterid gives him sleeping syrup.
The next time we see Haymitch is at the funeral of his mom, brother, Louella, Maysilee, Wyatt and Wyatt’s father Jethro who hung himself out of shame ( this makes me think he did bet on his son.) Haymitch is in a daze, mistakes Merilee for Maysilee and the vibes are just awful. This is truly the most depressing book from this series.
Lenore Dove is finally out of jail, and she reunites with Haymitch. She was eating the gumdrops that she thought were a gift from Haymitc, but it was really from Snow, and they were poisoned. Because she had eaten while in jail, she couldn't throw up, and she unfortunately died right in his arms.
At the beginning of the boo,k it is stated that Haymitch was not a drinker. But now he was, he drowned himself in alcohol, and his friends tried to help, but it was no use. He suffered for years and years, sending off kids to die on his birthday. Until In comes Katniss and Peeta.
Sunrise on the Reaping is by far my favorite book in this series but oh my gosh does it HURT.
But it really makes you think if Haymitch rebelled, Beetee and Plutarch rebelled, then who else tried many times before them and failed? There are so many stories from this franchise that have not been told yet, and I'm so excited to hear more. And it almost makes you realize that yes, we see characters like Effie, and it's assumed that, of course, they're fed propaganda to make the Capitol look better. They even did it when they brainwashed Peeta. But it was so blatant in how they edited the footage of the games and the reapings, and to this day, no one but those in District 12 and the game makers know how many extra kids have died because of these games.
That's the last of SOTR review, hope you enjoyed!!!!!

SOTR Yapp Sesh
Heyyyy everyone! Gonna try to kick off this account again with my thoughts on Sunrise on the Reaping! Spoilers ofc!!
Before starting this book, I took the time to re-read the original series and Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes so I could really get into it. As we all know by now, Suzanne Collins does not come into play when it comes to Easter eggs from other books. It took me only 2 days to read this book and the only reason it took me two days to read it was because it was finals week.
Anyways, here are my thoughts!
The first chapter started off with bangers, fourth of July, burdock, asterid, Lenore Dove, his brother, and mom oooooo weeeee. Like, we got a load of information super quickly. The moment I realized who Burdock was, my heart started to hurt, and adding Burdock being loosely related to Lenore Dove kinda loops the whole “Katniss being covey” thing that was going around for a while, like omg I love this so much. Seeing Haymitch interact with his brother was so precious to me, it kinda reminds me of how we first see Katniss and Prim.
The next few chapters were a whirlwind for me. Here comes the reaping, and I’m assuming everything is gonna go as normal, right? WRONGGGGG. Maysilee and Louella go up sure no problem, Wyatt gets called up, and next is Haymitch…….WROONNGGGG. WOODBINE CHANCE.
I read that and I paused.  I put my bookmark in the book and put it down because I knew that these were Haymitch’s games, so why wasn't he reaped I. was. Floored. I just knew something insidious was gonna happen.
So boom, here comes Woodbine Chance, he's walking up, then zoom, and he runs. He's a brave one because what did anyone expect to happen, but hey, he had the guts. Pow bye bye Chance. Now, at this point, I thought, “Surely now they'll just call Haymitch.” WRONGGGGG. Chaos ensues. The boy's mom runs to her baby bc, well, that's her baby. Folks scatter, here comes more peacekeepers. Lenore Dove is with the boy's mom, Peeta’s dad nearly got taken out, Haymitch tries to help Lenore, and suddenly he’s the new boy's tribute.
WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED.
At this point, I'm ignoring the fact that they made everyone get back in line to refill the moment. I'm focused on the fact that the only reason Haymitch was ever a tribute was because he wanted to help his girl…………………… …Drusilla, when I get my hands on you.
And then that hag wasn't even going to allow them to see their family, had it not been for Plutarch. What a witch.
ALSO. This specific moment of the whole filming for content for the Capitol made me realise that this is potentially the reason that Asterid or Katniss and Prim's mother didnt have a reaction at the girls' reaping. Her bestie Maysilee just got reaped. This is scary and dramatic, and here comes Drusilla like “Chat, should we let them see their family drop a gift if yes?” Having the most awful moments of their lives filmed for all to see is so dehumanizing, so I feel like this directly contributes to how she acts later, and not wanting to give the Capitol a show to farm for.
The tributes are then swept away, and this is really where we get to see the characters develop. Wyatt was quiet, so I didn't have a huge opinion of him, Maysilee……I knew I liked her. Slapped the shit out that hag I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT GET HER. CLOCK HER TEA. Louella, she's so precious, she's his “sweetheart’ Oh, I'm gonna cry. Haymitch is such an aura farmer, I'm sorry LMFAOOOOOOOO. Looking at the cake without saying anything and turning around with no word, pfft, bro thinks he's so cool. I love Haymitch so much. I also love the bit on the train where Maysilee is like “just because they think we're animals doesn't mean we have to act like them, show them who we are.” I love her. And she isn't afraid to fight like ugh.
Later when louella reveals that wayat and his family bet on the tributes lives was such a moment for me because I remember having a conversation with a friend some time ago before the book dropped that we are positive that peacekeepers bet on tributes but its not overly far fetched that folks from even the non carrer district would bet on tributes too. But Wyatt's family was betting, and then HE got reaped (in his last eligible year, and if I remember right, he was gonna be 19 soon) was WILD. My first thought was, “Did they bet on their son?” Like, what do you even do, as a family who gambles on folks' lives, how would you bet on your own child?
So boom, they get to the Capitol and it's soooo different from when Katniss and Peeta get to the Capitol, no private rooms, just a big gymnasium with curtains separating the boys and girls, and they are stripped and hosed with chemicals like cattle. One thing I enjoy about the Hunger Games franchise is that it never has to be explicitly stated that the Capitol views them as animals; you can blatantly see it. Herded and cleaned, branded (the district-specific clothing), and fed well before the slaughter. Maysilee beefing with a career outright was ballsy like oh em gee girl.
They get all groomed and put up in the rooms, then another whammy. WIRESS AND MAGS MY SHAYLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Haymitch crying is so real bc, oh boy, if only he knew. I'd cry even harder. And instead of being like Here's how to kill they go “What do YOU want?” This is the first time since getting on that train that these kids are humanized, oh my heart.
Then here we go, time for the chariot showcase. Magno is definitely on drugs, he's so wild for that ngl. Showing up last minute to put them in essentially the same costumes was how he was not fired. And reptile clothing??????????? Man whatever. But the chariot race went as well as expected, which was not well at all. The horse trainers absolutely failed, they lost control, they crashed, and the kids went flying, and as soon as Haymithc realized what happened, my heart dropped. Poor little Louell, oh my gosh. I was so hurt. HAYMITCH was so hurtful. And like Reaper and Katniss he made a show of it, took her body and put her right in front of Snow's crusty ass LET HIM SEE WHAT HE CAUSED.
Time goes, training time, comes little Amphert, and he is just the sweetest thing. It's awful to have to remember that no one survives, but it got so much worse when the realization came that this wasn't just some poor little unlucky boy, THIS WAS BEETEE’S SON. And he was only reaped because Bettee got caught…….Coriolanus Snow, when I get my hands on you. You sentenced this man to watch his son die and not from a screen, you made him see it in person, forcing him to watch the last few days of his son's life………I blame all those snow edits on TikTok for this. Suzanne saw them, and she knew she had to make sure that you would never thirst for this man ever again. But as sad as it is, our little social butterfly, Amphert, racked up an impressive alliance, and I was impressed at how easily Haymitch and Maysilee got folks in their favor as well. I love them all.
Once again……Sno,w when I get my hands on you. Haymitch should have done more than drink the milk at that moment. That evil, horrible man took some poor girl from District 11, brainwashed and starved her, and said, “lol here's Louella.”
So now let's keep count, for 12 districts it's usually one boy, one girl. That makes 24 in a regular year. This year, it's two boys and two girls. That's 48. Haymitch, by all technicalities, was not an original tribute, so we add one to get 49. Now we have Lou Lou, and that makes 50. 50 tributes in total, with two original tributes being dead, so the citizens of the capital aren't aware that the 48 tributes were actually 50, and two kids died before the games could even start. Coriolanus Snow deserved worse.
So boom, here Lou Lou, this poor child doesn't know what to do or what's going on. She just knows that she's “Louella McCoy from District 12.”
From this point, I couldn't focus much on what was going on, not the tributes, the alliances, the interviews, the absolute cruelty of Louella and Lou Lou's situation took precedence over my mind. Did Louelle's parents even know their baby was dead? What about Lou Lou's parents? It's no secret the Capitol isn't above killing and torturing children, but to go this far to cover up the Capitol's own failures is just disgusting. Those poor babies. Lou Lou saying “You'll kill us all” will forever remain in my head.
So this is gonna be part one! For this yap session, as I didnt want it to be Overwhelming, especially when I have quite a few thoughts for the actual game portion! Part two will be up hopefully within the next few days! Until then byeeeeee.

Im back
Lol hey yall. This semester was crazy, but I finished my finals and all I gotta do is walk the stage. Since I have yet to find a job I have PLENTY of time. Ive read one or two books over the time I've been gone.
The silent patient.
If we were villains.
I got onyx storm (havent read yet bc xaden and violet were so insufferable in iron flame that I got put off but it will be read.)
And I'm halfway through The Poppy War.
Oh, and I finished Sunrise on the reaping.
Once I get my bearings, aka my personal library and reading lists, I'll start back doing my reviews but I'm kind of conflicted on HOW id like to continue.
Do we like the two parts where it's the characters then the plot separately, or should I make it just one long post???? Like, how are we feeling about this. I don't have a lot of followers here but I'm hoping for some feedback to make reading these thoughts and reviews better for yall so just LMK!
Also, should I review ACOTAR? It's been a few years since I've even touched the series, and I'd need to re-read it to get all of my thoughts out but is that something yall would want my yaps on?
There are so many books I have read that I wanted to talk about, but I'd have to go back and re-read bc id rather it be fresh on the mind. But anyways.
I say all this to say I'm back and I'm gonna try to put myself on a schedule to post reviews. I'll do random posts in between, but the main events ill try to put on a bi-weekly schedule depending on what life throws at me. So be on the lookout!

If We Were Villains and The Secret History are siblings. One is the pretentious, intellectual older sibling and the other is the earnest, romantic younger sibling. One makes tongue-in-cheek jokes at the expense of the other and one rolls their eyes at the drama of it all, but they share the same nose and have the same taste in red wine because they're in the same FAMILY.
UNDERSTOOD??????

“Do you blame Shakespeare for any of it?” The question is so unlikely, so nonsensical coming from such a sensible man, that I can’t suppress a smile. “I blame him for all of it.” ― M.L. Rio, If We Were Villains (2017)
Forgive me, for all the things I did but mostly for the ones I did not. ― Donna Tartt, The Secret History (1992)
