The Empyrean (aka Fourth Wing and Iron Flame) by Rebecca Yarros. The main character Violet has a chronic and is based on the authors experiences with EDS. It includes representation of bracing/wrapping joints and adaptive saddle so she can ride her dragon more comfortably/securely. Are they the best books out there??? No. But they are enjoyable imo when you mood for something easy on the brain.
Sixteen Souls and Twelve Bones by Rosie Talbot (aka Merrowchild). Charlie the protagonist is a leg amputee iirc. I haven’t read the books but I’ve met Rosie a few times and she’s lovely.
There’s also a book sat on my tbr chair that I can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called that has a deaf protagonist attending a magic school.
I wish there was more representation of disabilities and chronic illness in fantasy, science fiction and action genres.
Not just a side character with 30 seconds of screentime. An important character that doesn't just exist to further the storylines of other characters. I want a character that doesn't get "cured" or healed. A character that stays disabled and/or chronically ill. A character that isn't afraid to ask for help. One that doesn't think they're a burden and doesn't try to hide their disability/ chronic illness.
I want to see how it affects them, not just know they're disabled/chronically ill and it jist never gets mentioned again. I don't mean it should be their entire personality but being disabled and or chronically ill can affect many parts of life.
I just wish there was more representation of disabilities and chronic illness that shows every part of it. Especially in fantasy and science fiction it's lacking.

Did I queue this Easter 2023? Yes. Yes I did.
I claimed Jesus in a roleplay server and I was really bummed that for the next 3 days I couldn’t use him.

I have asked all my friends, family and even some of the people that I work with the Fairy and the Walrus question. And I’ve noticed a trend at least with everyone that I’ve asked - by and large I noticed that most of the people who I know are neurodivergent predominantly answered Walrus where as the majority of people I know who are neurotypical answered Fairy.
When I asked why people answered what they did the common theme was most neurotypical people that I asked answered that the fairy would surprise them the most because fairy’s don’t exist.
Whereas the common consensus for walrus both here and in person is that the walrus throws up to many questions. The more I thought about it, it struck me as more indicative neurodivergent way of reasoning. As neurodivergent people our brains work differently and we don’t necessarily take things at face value or fall into the same patterns of thinking as neurotypical people. The same can be said for kids and it reminds me of the animals in the fridge experiment.
I have a hunch so it’s time for a quick poll

“As the guy I’m screwing shouldn’t you be fending them off from your woman?”
Being the arsehole that he is Bradley laughs at her. “1. I know that you’re more than capable of fending them off yourself, I wouldn’t want to deprive you of that pleasure. 2. If I fended off everyone that hits on you then we wouldn’t be screwing Jake and I like screwing Jake a lot.”
Ugh. He has a point - she hates it when that happens.

* didnt know how to sum this up well but like from what generation was the most recent person to immigrate to your country from, from your direct line (parents, grandparents etc) so if your mother’s parents immigrated and your father immigrated directly then it would be a parent (your father)
pls reblog for sample size etc
