The Silver Lady (Silky)

was a banshee

forgot her past

was lonely

“weird” so she could not make friends

was waiting for her family/friends to return 

Elias Ainsworth found the property that Silky was at and wanted to build his house there. He found her and befriended her. Her banshee state faded and was replaced with her current state - a type of Brownie. She became his housemaid after the house was remodeled. She found a friend, a home, and a purpose in at once.

Ruth

lost his only family

was so absorbed in his past, he forgot that he was a dog

did not move on

thought he lost his friend (a little girl who was his owner)

Ruth was waiting for his own to come back when Chise found him. Everyone thought that he was an evil spirit. She listened to him and helped him out. They formed a bound and Ruth thinks of Chise as his sister. Ruth was finally able to move on and find a new purpose. He found a new family and was happy.

Elias Ainsworth

No one likes him (except about 2 people but one has a hidden agenda)

anger issues

unknown background so no one trusts him are they are scared to get to know him

wants to be normal (compares himself to others)

He met Chise Hatori (well, bought actually, to-meh-to, to-mah-to). She helped him understand and name new emotions, what is correct and what is wrong, and how to care for others. He slowly learns control of his anger. He also learns more about himself in the series (do not worry, I will not spoil that part).

Father left with her little brother, leaving her and her mother alone

Mother killed herself due to Father leaving, losing her son, and the fae bothering them

No family wanted to keep her

Fae kept bothering her, taunting

Felt no purpose in life anymore

When she could not take it anymore, she almost jumped off a school building but was stopped by a man.

Chise shows signs of major depression. “If you're experiencing major depression, you may feel and see symptoms of extreme sadness, hopelessness, anhedonia or loss of interest in pleasurable activities, lack of energy, irritability, trouble concentrating, changes in sleep or eating habits, feelings of guilt, physical pain, and thoughts of death or suicide — and for an official diagnosis, your symptoms must last for more than two weeks” (link).

After being stopped by that man, she sold herself and was boughten by Elias Ainsworth who was looking for an apprentice. With him, she

After this, she did not want anyone else to feel what she felt. She is very kind and considerate. She goes way out of her way to help someone, even putting herself in danger. In the series, she saves and befriends many people, fae and human.

Ruth: 

 Chise’s familiar,a Church Grim (also known as a Black Grim; pure black dog that resides near a church and chases away grave robbers - possible for a normal dog to become a Church grim; some can change into a Human form like Ruth; “black dog” is an omen of death and malice in most regional folklore)

Elias Ainsworth:

 a mage and one of the main protagonists of the series; made of both fae and human elements but origins are a mystery; Chise’s purchaser, magic teacher, and husband

Other Forms:

Sometimes disguises himself as Simon, a preacher that lives nearby and visists

His “fae” side. This comes out when he cannot control his emotions.

Chise Hatori:

 a Sleigh Beggy (ability to gather and expend a massive amount of magic, but this causes their bodies to wear away - very rare and easily abused/used) and one of the main protagonists of the series; apprentice and wife of Elias Ainsworth

Intro:

Hello, this is a blog to show similarities between our world and the world that Chise Hatori lives in.

This is based on The Ancient Magus' Bride (魔法使いの嫁 Mahō Tsukai no Yome) anime. It is a Japanese dark fantasy shōnen manga series written and illustrated by Kore Yamazaki. The series is published in Japan by Mag Garden in its Monthly Comic Garden magazine. The manga is licensed in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment. Wit Studio produced a three-part prequel OVA of the manga and produced an anime television series adaptation that aired from October 2017 to March 2018.

None of these characters or plot or media are mine. The comparisons are mine and most likely not canon (unless they are).
