This is such a good idea! I had been keeping fics on a spreadsheet entitled "Fics I've written which don't have comments" so I submitted a bunch of those. Definitely planning to participate in flufftober if I have the chance too.

No More Zero Comments Project

Hi! Here's a big masterpost for everything you need to know about this project!

The No More Zero Comments (NM0C) Project is dedicated to reducing the number of fics on AO3 with no comments. This is a multifandom community effort with very few rules which you can very easily undertake alone, but hey, why not join us?

The goal is simple: find fics with no comments, read them and leave the author a comment. If you want, you can go out and find fics on your own, but we also have a handy spreadsheet full of fics for you to browse!

You can find the spreadsheet here. There are tonnes of different fandoms to choose from. It will be updated regularly with new fics, so check back as often as you like.

Do you have a fic with zero comments? You can submit it here to be added to the spreadsheet. There is no limit to how many you can submit, and no limits on what you can submit. Any fandom, any category, any rating, no matter how old it is. Yes, even explicit fics. We aren't picky around here. You can also submit other people's fics if you wish.

All I ask is, if you submit your own fics, try and comment on some too! Balance, equality, etc.

The only real rule for submissions is no AI. This blog is vehemently anti-AI and will not accept any fics that use it.

If you read a fic from the spreadsheet, please let me know here so I can remove the fic from the spreadsheet. If you see a fic on the spreadsheet that has a comment, don't fret. I'll get around to removing it soon. Admin's timezone is GMT and I'm most active in the evenings.

Who runs this blog?

That'd be me, Izak, better known as @lightningzombie! I run this blog alone for now. And yes, I did put my own fics into the spreadsheet. I put it up to a vote and people said I could!

Why did you decide to do this?

Frustration with the lack of comments on my fics and the death of comment culture in general. Bewilderment when I saw a fic that had 1200 kudos and no comments. The joy that leaving 100 comments and receiving 20+ during the Febuwhump commentfest brought me. Boredom. Many reasons!

Is there a prize/competition?

Nope! No incentives whatsoever. Just the joy of fan fiction, of commenting, and community spirit.

Will you do events?

Yes, I plan to! I'm not sure what yet, though.

"I don't know how to comment!"

Yes, you do. "I like this" is a comment. "How dare you do that to [insert blorbo here]" is a comment. "<3" is a comment. "KAJSDAKSDHJ WHYYYYY????" is a comment. "I am rapidly approaching your location" is a comment. Just be kind!

How long will it take me to get a comment?

Dunno. Some people get them within minutes, some hours, some days. Depends on many things. Be patient!

I submitted something but it hasn't been added or removed

I run this blog and the spreadsheet completely alone and manually. Any submissions will be handled as and when i have time. Be patient with me, I'll get to it!

Yeah me either. Also, I don't think they really have romantic chemistry. At most they'd be friends but... I don't think Varian would really want to be her friend after the end of the series to be honest.

Person on /r/fanfiction whining about people writing about A.I., as per typical, claiming it is "warping" fandom, and complaining that people "are so prejudiced" against it. Again, why is this a bad thing? Isn't it good that people are writing fics that are anti-A.I.? Perhaps there's something good said here, but this venting just is all too typical of that subreddit...

Totally agree! You are completely right about this. And she ultimately does incorporate this in her final design. Now, since you added Cassunzel in the tags, I feel almost obligated to share that one time I wrote a fic where Cass and Catra meet one another by accident (Catra's escape pod crash-lands on the planet Cass is on), entitled Cassandra and the Catgirl from the Sky... Here's the summary:

A young woman [Cass], trying to make amends for the errors of the past, and the harm she caused, comes across a catgirl [Catra] who fell from the sky in an escape pod. She isn’t sure what to expect. Both become closer than either one had intended. As a result, this young woman, a former lady-in-waiting, begins to have some romantic feelings for this mysterious catgirl, while the catgirl hopes to get in contact with her blond-haired girlfriend [Adora] after her radio gets busted.

In fact, this is the only fic on all of AO3 which ships them together (it is primarily a crush from Cass's side, with Cass, in my headcanon for this fic being demisexual). Just thought you might be interested. I'd love to continue this fic one day if I get the chance.

princess x knight Catradora, but knighthood is a duty that weighs heavily on Adora and she's raised to believe everything that goes wrong is her fault and that she doesn't deserve to be treated in the soft way she desires, and Princess Catra resents the demeaning way she's treated and the demeaning role she's trapped in and seeks autonomy and power. So, like canon basically.

Catra envies Adora's practical, masculine garb, and Adora secretly wishes she could incorporate some of Catra's feminine styling into her uniform :)

Currently there are only *three* Candace/Vanessa/Stacy fics on AO3. People should write more!

Buford, Stacy, and Vanessa have it going on even if it angers Candace, when they are giving him makeup in her room... This is in the episode "No Slumber Party"

Now how does Vanessa know... Buford? Baljeet? Stacy? Ferb? Phineas? I'd love to see more of that backstory. This is from the episode "No Slumber Party." Update: In a comment one user noted they had met before in existing episodes (prior to the revival) and in the 2020 movie.

Say what you will about Phineas and Ferb season 5 but... it gave us the first-ever (I think) Standessa (Stacy, Vanessa, and Candace) [this is the name that shipping fandom wiki calls it here and here] episode, as friends, while hinting at more. That's a positive thing, I'd say. I hope to see more of them! The episode is entitled "No Slumber Party."

Unfortunate to see more comments like this. As a reminder, never leave comments like this on a fic. I marked them as spam, but if they are real, they are just mean and hostile. Prove these commenters wrong and read the fic they commented on, which is entitled "Aphra and the Lesbian Space Pirates: Cass, Raps, Marika, and the Bentenmaru Debacle". Here's the summary:

Sometime after they left Earth, and met Steven Universe, they come across a group of space pirates led by the willful Marika Kato, captain of the Bentenmaru. Will Aphra be able to hold herself back, or will her bad decisions get her, her girlfriend, and newfound friends (of sorts), on the Darla Angel, into trouble which will doom them all? Only time can tell, and it will often rest on what Aphra does and the reactions of others, like Marika's partner, Cass.

While I personally am not a fan of Cassarian myself because I feel that Cass would have to do a lot to make up for what she did to Varian during the series and I feel like she would want to go her own path away from everyone (including Varian) by the series finale (perhaps she would come back later, like a year or plus), I'm no frothing-at-the-month person, I'd never harass someone like the OP here. I'm not going to say ship and let ship, because there really are bad, disgusting, awful ships out there (like with abusers, murderers, rapists, etc.). I'm also not, personally, sure that Cass and Varian would work well together, due to personality clashes (on the other hand, I could see them as friends, I just don't see that romantic spark).

Even so, the OP has a point about two adults dating isn't pedophilia (when an adult is disturbingly attracted to a girl or boy aged 10-13, which is generally a crime). What almost falls into pedo territory that is something like that older man grooming Nana K. or Reira Serizawa in a romantic/sexual relationship with a much younger boy (age 15), Shinichi Okazaki, in Nana, to give two examples. I'm not even someone who is completely weirded out by age gaps, although I would say it can get a bit of an issue if the gap is too wide (like over ten years). I've never been someone who has participated in shipping wars and even if I dislike a ship, I'm not going to bully someone for it. I'd just express my displeasure for such a ship. Personally, I'm a person who is more in favor of Cassunzel, but I also don't dislike Varian's character. I wish he had gotten his own series.

I am seriously still amazed at the total lack of sense in these Cassarian antis… 😅

Just because two people meet when one is a minor, does not mean that they had feelings for each other at that moment. Feelings grow in places they weren’t in before, you know. And not knowing that just shows how immature you are. Two adults dating is NOT illegal and is NOT pedophilia, because they are BOTH ADULTS and did not have feelings for each other UNTIL they were BOTH ADULTS.

How many times do I have to say this? STOP CALLING RANDOM STRANGERS YOU DON’T KNOW SUCH DISGUSTING THINGS JUST BECAUSE YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THEIR FICTIONAL SHIP. It’s rude, it shows your lack of maturity, and how little you actually know about them or their ship or how the world really works. Quit assuming the worst in people before you know the situation.

Just boosting this for those who haven't read it yet! This fic is great, especially for those who like Maomao, Jinshi, and their antics!

My newest fic brings together the Blue Angel mushrooms and Maomao!

Hello everyone! I published my newest fic, entitled "Maomao, mystery, and the intriguing Blue Angel mushroom" today, which is a crossover between two of my favorite series: The Apothecary Diaries and Common Side Effects! The fic is rated teen and up, has some inappropriate behavior by Jinshi toward Maomao and some drug use (swallowing/eating magic mushrooms). Here's the summary:

One day, Maomao finds some glowing fungi in a part of the Rear Palace. She has long dealt with mushrooms but these are different… somehow. After she finds a note written in a language she has never seen before, and she becomes curious. She quickly runs away and tests them out, as she usually does, which ends up changing her life. What she would never expect is that these Blue Angels are fungi that will turn her life upside down as they threaten to upend the entire palace.

You didn't say the ship isn't real directly, but from my reading of the post, well, you implied it. I will say, that your original post is why Cassunzel fans can be a bit harsh. There are some forums where fans are not received well (take the Tangled subreddit for example) and people are usually piling on Cass there, so New Dream fans can... be toxic. So, I can see why some fans don't act nice. I can also see how Cass and Raps can be referred to as lesbians, while dismissing Eugene. I personally have come up with creative ways to write Eugene out of the story when writing fics. I don't think he is a bad guy (this isn't Nana where basically all the male characters are utter trash), and, in fact, in the series he is pretty supportive of her.

On the other hand, I do like the idea that she is with a woman, and having Cass and Raps together. I had one fic (with multiple chapters) where Cass dates a space pirate and comes back to Corona where they are fighting the Corona-virus (because of course), and she ends up leaving Corona and going with Eugene. I like the idea that Cass goes off on her own after the end of the series, leaving Corona, and later comes back. I had another where Eugene transitions to being a woman, so she breaks up with him, then leaves to Japan with Cass.

While seeing all of this, I can see why some are dismissive of Eugene, especially if they see that Raps and Cass are right for each other. In any case, there's no doubt that Eugene is much better than the person who voices him... who is a terrible human being. Otherwise, there's some which go the Unknighted Dream route (Cass, Raps, and Eugene together) but I personally think that's nice, but there would be a lot of tension between Eugene and Cass especially.

I usually try to avoid ranting in here, but I kid you not, my problem with Cassunzel isn’t even the ship itself. It’s their stans and their constant need to shit on New Dream and Eugene. “New Dream should divorce”, ok but Cassunzel had their canonical divorce on season 3 and they were never together again after that, how about that?

What I find funny about this post is that you are complaining about Cassunzel fans yet you are being more dismissive than them by saying the ship isn't real. Also, there was no "canonical divorce" because Cass ad Raps were never canonically together as a romantic couple. Sure, you can read in some romantic undertones, especially from Cass, but canonically they were just very good friends with an unbalanced power dynamic (Raps literally had more power than Cass, which is part of the reason she was drawn to take the Moonstone so she could level the playing field). I personally ship Cass and Raps, but totally understand why people ship Eugene and Raps, and there is undoubtedly a lot of canon support for that. But there's no need to shit on another ship and be a jerk, as you are being. Also, I don't think Eugene is a "loving bisexual man" and if Cass is a "toxic lesbian" what is say that Raps doesn't have a case of toxic positivity?
