Will Deadpool’s R rating influence future superhero flicks?
Can’t say that I am surprised that Tim Miller’s long awaited Deadpool movie has received an R rating by the MPAA.  The “Merc with a Mouth” is known to the comic book universe as an anti-hero and also was blessed with the innate ability to break the 4th wall (he is aware that he is in a comic book and therefore is able to communicate with the reader).  For any of you who know a bit about Deadpool, he is known for his vulgar, sophomoric personality accompanied by regenerative healing abilities and a knack for slicin’ and dicin’ the bad guys.  When the red band trailer for this movie was released, it was clear that Ryan Reynolds (playing Deadpool) and Tim Miller were pushing for an R rated movie.  It seemed that in order to fully encapsulate this character, the actor and director would have to be true to the comics and join just a few other superhero movies with an R-rating.  If Deadpool is a success, other superhero movies could follow suit and aim for a more violent, more realistic motif.
Superhero movies have been smashing box offices in recent years, but most Marvel or DC movies have always been accompanied by a PG-13 rating.  Many fans of the comic feared that the filmmakers would tone down the penchant for violence, sex, and language that had become Wade Wilson’s trademark.  Well have no fear fellow Deadpool fans, it seems as if we are being handed the roundhouse kicking badass we had hoped for.  Let’s just hope the soccer mom’s who take little Billy to the movies know what they're in for.  I am interested to see how the future landscape for superhero films is affected if the merc can kick ass at the box office (and I’ll put $$$ on it will).
With the freakin phenomenal marketing being put forth by Fox and Reynolds himself, Deadpool should kill it..........figuratively speaking of course.

Why the term “Clemsoning” is finally dead.
You won’t find it in Webster’s, but according to the prolific urban dictionary, the term “clemsoning” is deemed the act of delivering an inexplicably disappointing performance, usually within the context of a college football season.  After a heart-breaking 45-40 loss in the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship, some may see this season as another perfect example of the tigers again falling victim to this identicator.  But if you watched the game, payed attention to the season that the Tigers were able to put together, you should be able to see what this fantastic group of young men were able to accomplish.
The Tigers finished the 2015-2016 season with an impressive 14-1 record, one win shy of setting the record of 15 wins in a single season.  This was the Tigers 5th consecutive season with at least 10-wins, a feat 2nd only to the Alabama Crimson Tide.  Time and time again this team found a way to win this season; from a goal line stand against then #4 Notre Dame, to out dueling the booming Oklahoma Sooners.  This team believed in what coach Dabo Swinney was preaching.  His “BYOG” (Bring Your Own Guts) mantra trickled down to every player and coach on this team.  They trusted one another.  They bled for one another.  The fought for one another.
For years it seemed that the Tigers simply couldn’t handle to pressure of a high national ranking.  In 2014, Clemson had a chance to take down #1 Florida State, who was without their Heisman winning quarterback Jameis Winston.  Yet, the Tigers surrendered the lead to back-up Sean Maguire.  Even more gut-wrenching, heart-breaking, alcohol-inducing events occurred in 2013, when the undefeated Tigers lost to arch-rival South Carolina in a game that crushed the chances of a shot at the national title.  Unfortunately the list continues, including an absolute beat-down from West Virginia….West fuckin Virginia…70-33.  However, this shit is in the past, and in the words of the great Rafiki, “the past can hurt, but you can either learn from it, or run from it.”  And by God, the Tigers have learned from it.
The 2015-2016 season is a testament of perseverance and self-confidence.  It  is a testament of hard work, passion, and the ultimate desire to fuck the haters.  As a life-long Clemson fan, I salute this team.  I tip my hat to Dabo, and I applaud those who have stood by this team.  They showed the nation what it looks like to play your goddamn heart out and leave everything on the field.
So fuck the term “Clemsoning.”  If you ask me, it only helped to make this team even more hungry and even more determined.  It only helped to make this team better.  So go ahead sports commentators, analyze this team from your ivory towers and place upon them the aura of disappointment.  It’s only going to fuel the fire.
The 2016-2017 college football season can’t come soon enough.
“Where the Blue Ridge yawns its greatness, Where the Tigers play, Here the sons of dear old Clemson Reign supreme alway.”
