my experience playing magic: the gathering as a beginner is looking at a bunch of cards and going “oh yeah, sounds good in my deck, synergises well with it” and then i play against an actual experienced player and we’re closely matched and it’s a good time and we both have fun
meanwhile, my experience playing competitive pokemon as a player of 6 years is spending days looking at a teambuilder, a damage calculator, a viability ranking and many smogon pages simultaneously, thinking so hard that smoke comes out of my ears trying to craft the most functional and synergistic team that covers all its weaknesses and accounts for every metagame threat, only to click play and get sent to meet god within 3 turns by the first low ladder player i encounter. and then just 2 weeks later a bunch of stuff is banned and unbanned and the metagame is unrecognisable from before and my team no longer applies
some competitive games are just built different

i can never make a blanket statement of “i recommend this movie/book/show/game”. what i CAN do is tell you the appeal of it, and what personal preferences one would have that would make them like it, and let you decide for yourself if you’re the right audience for this movie/book/show/game

we really need to talk about moral fascism and how it has divided the left and allowed far-right extremism to rise in the world.
“moral fascism” as i call it is behaviour, usually coming from left-leaning people, where they are “progressive” not because they want to help people and improve the world, but because they want to be better than others. moral fascists refuse to educate people, don’t believe in personal growth, and actively try to gatekeep their allegedly superior morals from anyone who doesn’t already know it, all so they can flaunt their superiority for knowing more than others do.
just like actual fascism, moral fascism is entirely focused on assigning value to a characteristic, defining people’s worth based on that characteristic, and making sure nobody ever gets to move up so the “high class” can keep its status. you either already have perfect morals to begin with, or you’re doomed to be “problematic” for life, never be educated or given a chance, thus pushing people away from progressive circles and into the more welcoming far-right circles.
i believe this is also one of the core ideals of “cancel culture” - people want to feel like they’re above others, so they try to ruin other people’s livelihoods, sometimes with truths, sometimes with lies, so they can be the “hero who defeated the problematic villain”. and of course, the idea of people improving or learning from their mistakes is nonexistent to moral fascists.
because of all of this, left-leaning communities globally are divided and fighting among themselves, which not only lets the right reign free and do whatever they want without true opposition, but it also drives away new and young people from even joining the left, which results in even more support for the right.
maybe the left needs to unite, and realise that even if some of us hate each other, we hate fascism more and we’ll make more progress by fighting that instead. maybe to defeat actual fascism, we need to defeat moral fascism.

why is “cute” food always sweet? normalise cuteness in medium rare steak. normalise girls who are cute and prefer burritos over strawberries and parfaits

actually fucked up that you can’t post anything about spiders on the internet without some lunatics talking about how much they want to kill them, like imagine if every picture of your pet dog or of a wild bird had people saying they want to kill it with zero remorse

i feel like being an extrovert is way harder nowadays than being an introvert
it’s much easier to be alone than to make friends. if you want to be alone, you can just do that, but if you want to make friends you gotta go to the right places, find the right people, and have the luck of actually connecting with them, and that’s if youre lucky they actually enjoy you back
its completely fine to demand alone time from your friends whenever you want, but its not okay to demand to spend time with your friends, they might have something else going on
if your comfort zone is being by yourself, thats easily obtainable on most days, but if your comfort zone is being with someone else, that requires a whole nother person’s time and attention, which is rarely feasible
nobody is forcing you to spend time with them if you dont want to, which is fine if you dont mind being alone, but if you want to spend time with someone, its not within your control whether you get that
an introvert’s comfort zone is “boundaries”, an extrovert’s comfort zone is “harrassment”
an introvert is having alone time instead of spending time with their extrovert friend because it’s what the introvert wants, an extrovert is having alone time instead of spending time with their introvert friend because it’s what the introvert wants
not to mention, i feel like, as opposed to real life, social media is heavily dominated by and prioritises introverts, and honestly, i dont think being an extrovert is even “normalised” at this point
its not like any of those things should change or anything, but i just wish people recognised that, by nature, requiring other people’s input to be well is much harder than only requiring your own

being chronically offline is just as much of a problem as being chronically online.
chronically offline parents let their kids watch inappropriate brainrot content on youtube kids because they don’t spend enough time on the internet to be informed about how dangerous youtube kids is. chronically offline sports fans buy AAA slop sports games with predatory monetisation that are the same game every year because they don’t know what a good game is. chronically offline people spend money on and support companies that do unspeakable atrocities because they’re not informed enough about ongoing boycotts. chronically offline people fall for online scams because they don’t spend enough time on the internet to have the common sense to identify real or fake calls/emails. chronically offline people leave their personal information all over the internet because they were never taught how dangerous that is. chronically offline people even put other people’s personal information on the internet without their consent because of this. chronically offline people spend their limited disposable income on predatory low-effort entertainment by evil companies because they don’t know how to pirate
we absolutely should make a habit of scolding people for being chronically offline, and make sure everyone at least uses the internet enough to stay informed

ive been saying this for so long!!
it's literally impossible to not be inspired by something, because everything you see and know goes into the brain, and consciously or subconsciously, it's gonna show in what you make. it's also impossible to know when someone was inspired because of that reason
taking inspiration from what you know is literally how the entirety of art works, and also the human brain, and "dont take inspo from my art" is just not a reasonable boundary to set and should never be taken seriously
i believe the rise of copyright law is to blame for why artists nowadays are so possessive of their creations and so entitled on what they don't allow other artists to do with their creations (closed species, colour palette theft, pose theft, some very generous definitions of character design theft, etc), when throughout most of history, it's always been an accomplishment to inspire or be referenced by other people, but that's a topic for another day
“don’t trace my art” cool “don’t steal my art” makes sense “don’t take inspo from my art” ????what the fuck are you talking about

To all the people telling me "I'm in your walls" is a harmless meme and "if you are sensitive enough to be triggered by it you shouldn't be on the Internet", please read this and then tell me it's a meme that has nothing to do with schizophrenia, it's a harmless meme, and if me and other people with schizophrenia get 'triggered' by it we are too sensitive.
It was literally made to purposely trigger people in psychosis/ people with schizophrenia specifically. Me and many other people who post about our schizophrenia/psychosis online get spammed with this type of thing, I get anons pretty regularly. I actively try to avoid it but it doesn't matter. I can't think of any other popular "meme" that purposely triggers people online who are already vulnerable. It is blatant sanism/ableism.
There is no way you can divorce the "joke" from its original intended purpose. And why do you guys fight so hard to justify this "joke"? It's not ever funny, it's not clever or creative, it's just bullying a minority, that's literally it.
Those of us with schizophrenia/psychosis deserve to be on the Internet just like everybody else. It's not our fault that there is a popular meme made specifically to target our vulnerabilities. Even if we try our hardest to avoid these types of jokes, people will seek us out and harass us regardless.
Notice on the Know Your Meme page, all the other related searches that are more "memes" meant to trigger, harass, or make fun of people with psychosis/schizophrenia. A lot of these memes have only started/become popular in the last few years. And yet no one seems to be speaking up about how fucked up that is. Not even neurodivergent/mental illness awareness online. And when those of us with schizophrenia try ourselves to call it out, guess what kind of comments we get 🙄
