So I was discussing Kingdom Hearts characters with a friend and we decided to make a tier list to rate them by aura. I put Vor in S-Tier, and felt the need to justify the decision to my friend who had never played Dark Road before. As soon as I showed them the gif of Vor lifting and throwing the boulder, they agreed with her placement. This, however, was not the end of the conversation, because as we finished the tier list, I felt curious as to how much that boulder actually weighed. Here are my findings:
Tumblr media
This is the promotional art for Dark Road. Using a general guesstimate for where the characters' feet are placed using the traditional artist's understanding that the pelvis is generally about halfway down the body, and the fact that Young Eraqus as per the KH3 journal is 5'7, and takes up 502 pixels, we can determine that Vor, who is about 386 pixels, is 4'4.
Tumblr media
Here's the infamous scene in question where Vor lifts and throws this boulder. Vor is 189 pixels tall, whereas the boulder is 138, making it roughly 3'2 in height. For this exercise, we are going to assume its length and width are roughly the same. Using an average boulder weight of 150 lbs per cubic foot (as we do not know the type of boulder it is) we can assume that this boulder weighs 2.19 tonnes, or for those of us who don't use American measurements and have been pained just as much as I was by my use of them, 1987.96 kg.
This feat is about 13 times stronger than an intermediate deadlift. If this girl survived longer than she did I think she could have solo'd the Master of Masters with nothing but a boulder.

Just the description from the replies had me laughing until I cried.
I approve of powerscaling discourse only in utterly senseless contexts. I don't give a shit about which shōnen protagonists could beat up which other shōnen protagonists, but I will 100% read your five thousand word essay exploring the subtle nuances of establishing a tiered ranking of the Smurfs.

so a couple days ago someone on Twitter made this post:
Tumblr media
and for the past 3 days it has caused a ripple effect leading to people trying to properly power scale Sportacus and discovering he is at the very least continent level in terms of raw strength but then he does some shit like hit an apple at 16% the speed of light and were all just like "what the fuck"

I'm not one for powerscaling, but I had a thought
In most media, a character's feats aren't typically given hard numbers because usually the creator doesn't have a degree in physics and just wants to show something cool. This results in, for example, characters doing things that are, logically, faster than the speed of light, even if the creator didn't intend for that to be the case
In Assassination Classroom, Korosensei's speed is capped at Mach 20. This means that, canonically, even if he does something that should logically exceed Mach 20, the internal logic of the series dictates that that can't possibly be the case
If you were to compare Korosensei's faster-than-the-eye movements to, say, Undead Unluck's Andy, who has never been shown to be so fast that no one could even see him, you'd conclude that Andy must be moving at significantly less than Mach 20, right?
That may be true in general, but Andy has proven that he is perfectly capable of far exceeding Mach 20 through one specific feat: firing a Finger Bullet from the sun
First, let's consider how Andy even got to the sun in the first place. He either went straight there once he regained consciousness while drifting in space, or he got sent back to Earth and then launched himself to it. If the latter, that would mean that Andy, even if only firing a single finger, would have needed to fire it at Mach 33, over 1.5 times faster than Korosensei
If the former, we still know he's capable of that speed because he was able to fire back to Earth from the sun, which has an escape velocity of Mach 1800
Even if you assume that that's just one single burst of speed from Andy's blood and not a speed he can maintain or control beyond firing in a straight line (which is obviously not true since he had the precision to land basically right in front of Fuuko), that's still 90 times faster than Korosensei, meaning that all he'd need to do is get ahold of a tiny amount of Anti-Sensei Material and he'd be able to hit him without any chance of missing. At that speed, Korosensei probably wouldn't even have time to enter Absolute Defense Form
TLDR; no matter how impressive you want to make your character sound on paper, using hard numbers has had the unintended consequence of making characters seem weaker due to the internet's fascination with power scaling, so even a near-unkillable character like Korosensei would absolutely lose against most lesser-defined characters in the context of power-scaled matchups like Death Battle. This is, to me, a detriment to the enjoyment of things like battle shonen because that mentality leads one to care deeply about those hard numbers and less about the intended spectacle itself

Question about the strength of humans and monsters in Undertale:
Everyone knows that UT humans are significantly stronger than monsters. But where do IRL humans fit in? Would an IRL human be able to beat a monster?
imo I don’t think so. Sure, there’s the whole “monsters are weak to killing intent” thing but a good chunk of Undertale monsters won’t just let any human murder them. You gotta get past their bullet patterns first. Plus, multiple monsters such as Undyne are much stronger than humans (See: Undyne casuallly destroying a table during her cooking with Frisk)
Not to mention, some of them have weird anatomies. Onionsan is a dweeb but if they wanted to, they could probably casually drown a few IRL humans with ease
So we got a regular human with no access to determination and no experience dealing with magic vs monsters who casually spam magic projectiles and are surprisingly physically strong (plus some of them have experience dealing with a busted OP version of humanity)

Obito 'no Susano' Uchiha
funny that Obito 'Can't Use Susano Because Genius Idea To Offer An Eye To A Friend' Uchiha's Mangekyo technique happens to be the ultimate Susano counter.
Oh you have invincible armor? Would be a SHAME if someone phased through it...
How petty. How spiteful. I like it.
As a side note, imo Obito wins 6 matches out of 10 against Itachi -- cuz he's one of the rare people (if not the only person) on whom Itachi's OP guaranteed oneshot moves (Totsuka blade, Amaterasu, and of course Susano) don't work, since he can phase through them, but on the other hand Obito* doesn't really has a guaranteed killing move either, and Itachi is good enough to react the basic 'I'm appearing behind you' trick. No guaranteed winner ever, this would be suuuch an interesting fight.
*I’m talking about base ‘Tobi’ Obito, ofc, before he gets the Rinnegan, not to mention Jubi.

The annoying thing about Batman is that he takes the option of short-circuiting dumb powerscaling arguments by pointing out that those two characters would logically never fight each other completely off the table when he's in play. "Batman wouldn't fight" yeah, he would. There's a non-zero chance he canonically did.

If you haven't heard, Twitter's death throes have somehow resulted in a discussion "powerscaling" Sportacus, which has in turn spawned a slew of fond reminisces and surprise that Magnús Scheving was ~40 years old during filming. I can't in good conscious recommend visiting Twitter in its current state, but if you're there anyway it's a fun distraction from, you know, everything else.
