If you are here, we had a moment of sorts. A moment that I'd like to expand on. So if I have piqued your interest, even a little bit read on. I'm hoping a moment can become a lot more than that.

Never Give Up and Luck Will Find You
BELEIVE
With Lunar New year just passed I thought a great topic to talk about is luck. I’ve always been a proponent of the way of thinking that the better I am the luckier I get. For the most part that is true.  Some people don’t believe in luck, but some things can’t be explained! My youngest sister wins EVERYTHING. My family and I were at a dinner recently where they were doing a draw and her name got drawn twice. TWICE! She won a bottle of wine and then she won a TV! If we all get scratch & wins, she will be the one that will get the winning card. It’s actually amazing.
THOSE CHINESE SUPERSTITIONS
Being Chinese we have ridiculous superstitions. I remember my grandmother and my mom reminding us not to wash our hair on Chinese New Year or we would wash away our good luck for the year. We would know that before midnight wherever we were we would run to the shower to wash our hair for the next day. It’s quite comical.
I stopped believing in Chinese superstitions once I figured out that Chinese people believe things are good or bad based on how they sound similar to other words. If it sounds like death then it must mean death, if it sounds like money it must mean dollars are nearby. It’s complete nonsense. I’ve done some pretty “unlucky” things before. I’ve taken a piece of lava rock from Hawaii, I’ve opened umbrellas indoors, and I’m pretty sure I’ve broken a mirror or two, but at the same time all should be fine right? I mean every year I don’t wash my hair on Chinese New Year’s Eve!
DON”T BELIEVE IT
I’ll leave you with this. Yesterday (Chinese New Year) I went down to Kirkland, Washington to spend the day with a friend of mine and on the way back at 1am in the morning I had my cruise control on the I-5 and suddenly a highway patrol shot out from the side of the road and pulled me over. I was like c’mon man seriously I was barely over the speed limit (well within the “buffer” zone) Well he took my licence and what had turned out to be a good night was going to be ruined by a USA speeding infraction. After a few minutes with the red and blue strobe lights flashing in my rear-view mirror, he came back and said to me: Don’t worry about it, just slow it down and don’t worry it goes back up to 70mph in a few miles. And with that he drove away. Finally I got some luck on my side…Or did I?!
Guess who washed his hair on Chinese New Year’s day?! Oh that’d be me.

Just to let you know. I’m going say hello. I’m going to compliment you. We’re going to talk and at the end of it I’m going to ask if you’d want to do it some more over coffee or some other beverage or food of your choice. You might say Yes you might say No but if I do nothing you might just smile and walk away never to be seen again...

Surrender to the Universe because it has Your Back
The Gift
I was recently given an audio book as a gift from someone who was very special to me. (Actually my ex-girlfriend) She told me that no matter how bad things were or got, as like the title of the book; The Universe has Your Back. The book is by Gabrielle Bernstein if you are looking for it. Basically the takeaway from it is that you should change your perspective of the world from that of fear to that of love.
The Energy
A change in perception will not only shift your energy but has the power to change the world, because if one person starts a perceptual change to love and positive energy he or she can affect other people into having those same feelings. As well, if you are giving out positive attractive energy then someone will also be attracted to it and you right? It’s a wonderful concept. At first it felt a little “granola” to me but I have done some work on myself in the self-growth arena this past year as well so I took it in.
The Let-go
In the book she preaches about hope and letting go of things that are weighing you down. There is a great exercise about putting all the negative things, or the past or whatever is troubling you into a basket and letting it fly off and away. I’m quite a visual person so this works well for me. Have faith that going with the flow of the universe is easy if you surrender to that fact that you don’t have to control every aspect of your life. One thing you do have control over is yourself, don’t force things, choose love over fear because the universe has got you and your whole take on the world will change if you keep practicing this. I promise.

Tune in to the world, Lose those headphones!
Tumblr media
I once did a paper in university on how people in the future would all be concentrating on their mobile devices and tuned out to the world around them. I noticed the phenomenon in gyms at first and then on transit, and further on to public parks and such. It seems sad that you might miss out on an opportunity to meet somebody who might change your life whether it be in a positive way or maybe even in a romantic way. What would you do knowing that each and every day you tune out; you are missing out on dozens of interactions that could move you in ways you will never know. Take off your headphones and look up. I’m standing right here. Care to chat?

Limited time for Limitless
I just finished watching the first and only season of Limitless. I'm sad it only got one season. I hate it when that happens (I'm looking at you Firefly) Limitless was such a trip (pun intended) great cast and you could tell they had a lot of fun. I recommend you get to watch it. Even better watch it with me. I'll watch it again!

Hi there.
Serendipity means a "fortunate happenstance" or "pleasant surprise". It was coined by Horace Walpole in 1754. In a letter he wrote to a friend, Walpole explained an unexpected discovery he had made by reference to a Persian fairy tale, The Three Princes of Serendip.
If you dropped in here I guess our paths crossed along the way somewhere. I had no real plan for this blog except for it to be a place you might get to know me, because if you’re here I probably didn’t have enough time to talk to you and I would like to do so more in the future. So sit back and enjoy my musings about life, love, and laughter.
