Sisterly love, it's something I post about often because, well, we have four kids. That's something like 12 different and unique relationship combinations. . . These two have a special bond, Luna starts school in September so she has been able to stay home with Octavia when the others go to school. . . While many aren't aware, Luna is my bonus daughter, and I'm the luckiest woman in the world because by gaining her Father I got her too. She is the most amazing child and so caring... She loves all three of her sisters, she loves me, and she loves her Daddy. . . I've never considered her my "step" daughter. Frankly our family folded together so quickly I've just always been Mom. A title she chose for me herself. I was introduced to her as Emily, and for a long time I corrected her to Emily, or Emmy, when she called me Mom. Usually I try to feed the family pretty healthy. But some days you just can't do it! Be it because you forgot you had to go grocery shopping, or your simply too tired. During the week I solo parent because of the shift my partner works. . . My favorite quick meal is usually noodles, tuna and mushroom soup dumped together and stirred. But when your out of mushroom soup and have a craving what do you do?? ...you get inventive. I figured it would be just like a tuna casserole! Minus the baking 😅 . . It was so good, I may have just found my new toss together in a rush dinner. The kids didn't want to help, and I was out of patience anyways so I set up my tablet to stream some TV while fixing dinner. . . Check out my spoon! Mount Saint Never-done and I are at war. I'm trying to scale it... It's laughing at me 😂 . . We have a new outlook on life lately. Octa has figured out she can do a bridge (Is that the right word? Haha) and loves to see what the world looks like from this new view. . . It's so much fun watching the minds of littles work. Watching all the milestones come and go. The first time she ran away from us with something in her hand - like actually "ran" 😂 Quinn and I just stood laughing because it was the cutest thing ever 😂 ....until you have to chase her down to get whatever she's gotten. . . It struck me recently how she's a toddler. I've been really really trying to pretend it's not true. But Octavia is 15 months old in three days... This little monkey has six teeth coming in all at once. I'm so thankful for her handy holder from @the_chew.crew because MAN. She is CRANKY right now. . . For Christmas I got Octa something I had been eyeing up for a long time! . . Blocks seem like a silly thing to get excited about, but watching her build and play has been amazing. . . With the other kids I tended to buy more "structured" toys. But with Octa we have approached a more natural lifestyle, and as cliche as it sounds... you do the best you can with what you know, and when you know better you do better. . . I thought the more toys the kids had the happier they would be. But as we had more children the toys that are open ended, can be used for so many more things became more valuable. Realizing that just because it's a big name brand doesn't mean it's better. Price, doesn't mean it's better. Just because it's popular, doesn't mean it's better. . . These blocks have gotten the seven (even the older day home boys!) kids playing together, learning cause and effect, learning so much! The oldest of mine says "it's just like Minecraft" 😅😅😅 . . I've been paying attention to some of the absolutely lovely set ups I see in my feed and taking the tips from them! . . This photo? Doesn't reflect that 😂 But in all the mess, in all the toys... One sweet baby girl is happy. She's pulled everything to her, set up her own little space and played independently for so long until she toddled off to find something else. . . That hair. My gosh. Baby girl you are the only one with curly hair and we've learned so much about how to properly take care of them 🤯 . . When they dry they are the perfect ringlet curls, if managed. Seriously ladies with curly hair I don't know how you do it. My hair is thick as heck, but fine and straight as a whip. I literally can't get it to hold a curl with a pound of hairspray. What you guys have to go through!!! . . I'm so lucky she is such a sweet and calm girl because this mane takes so much time to comb and take care of. What, you don't play with the farm in your pearls? . . The @fisherprice farm house Octavia got for Christmas is totally her favorite of all the sets we have. The little songs it plays make her dance and clap! She loves trying to put the chicken on the top and take it off. . . With four teeth coming in she's been using her @the_chew.crew necklace more and more, carrying it around or wearing it and chewing in it. The kiddos have a #playroom again! But it's so bland. @seemslegitmommy and I are planning out how to decorate it, I love her fabric walls idea! A nice big rug in the center, and I want to add some great imaginative details elsewhere.
