Want to get back into posting things on Social Media, regardless of quality. So, here's some single-panel stories/story beats I've been doing as part of the #StoryArtMentorship with storyboardart.org! These are specifically from the comedy module. Most of my other work has been thumbnailing sequences, if people want me to share those I can. But I'm hoping that I can eventually have a completed sequence/animatic to show off. The mentorship has really opened my eyes to where I can improve, but also shown me how quickly I can improve when I put my mind to it! These were done with CSP, but I'm hoping to explore more dedicated boarding/animation programs soon.

Oh hey, I drew something! I dunno why, I felt like drawing Mega Man, and I ended up deciding to give him my own twist. I've been grinding a lot on my fundamentals, so it was nice to let loose and just draw something for fun.

"Boden's is a small, secluded hotel deep in the forests of Upstate New York. It once hosted some of the most notable New York Socialites who vacationed in the Catskill mountains. But after a string of deaths, beginning with the gruesome muder of Raine Neroni in the 50s, the hotel's fortunes turned south. Once the height of luxury, it now offers a budgeted experience for weary souls travelling across the state. Some have reported seeing a figure wandering the halls at night, those who have gotten close saying that she looked much like the young woman murdered over 80 years ago. Boden's denies any knowledge of such a matter... though does still advise guests not to leave their rooms at night. "

I actually finished this piece in time for Halloween! I learnt a lot doing it, and I had a lot of fun. I'm hoping to keep up this momentum, and start getting more art out!

never in my life did i think i would be making a post like this but here goes.

what's happening in the university of brighton?

during the past week, the university of brighton has announced 110 staff redundancies in a bid to save almost £18m.

meanwhile, senior management have recently shelled out an almost identical sum of money to buy out the lease of a sports facility on campus - a decision which nobody asked for or wanted.

these redundancies will be finalised at the end of june and will have a catastrophic impact on learning conditions, which rely on the expertise of our lecturers. though the ripples of this decision will be felt throughout the university, it explicitly and disproportionately targets 'non-profitable' degrees such as humanities, arts, social sciences, etc.

for the staff made redundant, it could mean the end of their academic career due to a surplus of unemployed academics as a result of sector-wide lack of funding for teaching and research. this is also happening during a cost of living crisis.

lecturers on work visas could be forced to leave the country and may not be able to support their families. those who aren't made redundant will suffer from increased workload, larger class sizes, inability to conduct research and more students per member of staff.

the university of brighton offers a fantastic range of unique, interdisciplinary courses in the heart of the uk's queer capital, allowing our vibrant student community to benefit from intimate seminars that immensely benefit our learning. with some of our departments being cut by more than half, the loss of these will be absolutely devastating.

in the e-mail the student body were sent, we were told the redundancies 'wouldn't affect us', with zero acknowledgement of the relationship students build with their lecturers.

this is an attack on the job security and dignity of our valued body of educational staff. the vice chancellor, who takes home around £250,000 a year, said she 'needs to pay the gas bill'. we say human beings over buildings.

the student body cannot allow this. this sets a dangerous precedent for workers all over the country.

so what can we do to help?

let them know that this not okay. voice your concerns to the vice chancellor debra humphris, who can be contacted at d.humphris@brighton.ac.uk

spread information. tell your friends. kick up a fuss. stand in solidarity with staff and students. contact your local representatives and encourage them to offer support. jeremy corbyn has already given his!!

Apologies for not posting anything in a while! I've been busy working on my final project for my animation course - specifically, I'm creating a showreel made of distinct segments meant to show off various different skills and techniques. I was having a rough time during my pre-production, but I was able to make these turnarounds.

I'll be sure to post some more stuff from the project now that it's entered production. I'm having a lot of fun with it. You may also see one of these characters in a future project as well!

Do you design a lot of characters living in not-modern eras and you’re tired of combing through google for the perfect outfit references? Well I got good news for you kiddo, this website has you covered! Originally @modmad made a post about it, but her link stopped working and I managed to fix it, so here’s a new post.
