This weekend myself and many other artistic enthusiasts got a sneak peek into the lives of Vancouver Artists thanks to an awesome event called “Culture Crawl”
Culture Crawl is an event where hundreds of artists open up their studios to the public for the weekend and we get to see their work up close and even more intriguing their workspaces!
It was so awesome to meet these artists and chat with them about their work, their lives and to be honest just general chat about design and process with creatives was so enjoyable!
Check out the Culture Crawls official website to see what was featured and when the next event is on...

These 60 second edits are awesome! So many interesting and creative transitions which have me just as engaged as the information and shots of the cities themselves.
Check out the more info on this project here...
I’ll definitely be checking in now and again with Refinery29 to see what they produce in the future.

WHY I DESIGN
A great event run by the lovely Mitra Mansour at the Museum of Vancouver introducing local designers to local design enthusiasts displaying an array of designs from handy earthquake emergency packs to beautifully hand crafted furniture and boats.
“Sustainable” and “Community” were the buzz words of the evening which comes as no surprise but what did surprise me was the interaction between the designers and the audience. Being able to get upfront and personal with the creators of these pieces and ask them questions face to face was so enjoyable not only because you get a proper description of what it is you are actually looking at but you get to see and join in on the enthusiasm these creators have for their designs which answers the title “WHY I DESIGN”
Well done Mitra I look forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve in the future!

The Vancouver Art Gallery throws a party every few months called FUSE and I was lucky enough to attend this months.
Drinks Flowing, Artists Performing, Music Pumping and a general good creative vibe entertained us for the evening.
I will certainly be keeping an eye out for this event again in the future!

So I was going to the Cinema the other night in the International Village and to my surprise I stumbled across possibly the best curated gallery I’ve ever seen!
http://www.aydengallery.com/
I’ve never been in a gallery where I can honestly say I loved everything!
To add to it for the small price of $20 I got to take home a little piece of all the artists in the form of postcards.
I would urge everyone who appreciates this style of art to check it out before the end of the month

I came across this store Vinyl Records Vancouver and their hand drawn chalk signs.
The whole place is hipstertastic! Red brick walls, Old boxes holding old records stacked on old furniture with beautifully chalk sketched signs listing each genre.
To top it off the staff are super friendly and I have been inspired to find a record player on Craigslist and begin a glorious vinyl collection!

I was in UBC having a look around and came across this building. The Audain Art Centre designed by Hughes Condon Marler Architects and KPMB Architects
The simplicity of the general form doesn’t give much to get excited about but when you get up close and personal you see the attention to detail with the materials used on the facade and interior. They’ve clearly had a lot of thought put into them with walls, doors, stairs and even the illustration of the text merging into one coherent theme.
It’s like the Architect put the whole building on an excel sheet, worked out the floor footage, laid it out on a grid and then got down to business on the detailing!
Very nicely done!

I was at the TaiwanFest 2015 in Vancouver this year and came across this amazing organisation!
Their products look simple but dig a little deeper and you’ll be amazed!
The bench/bed is made from recycled coffee plastic lids and are designed to be light and compact so they can maximize the amount they can ship to disaster areas. They help keep people above flooded floors reducing infection and the spread of disease.
The baby shoes and blankets are also made completely from plastic bottles!!!
The bicycles were linked up to LED and Standard bulbs. You could physically see how much more effort is needed to light a standard bulb. I have since then swapped all the bulbs in my home! haha
Check out their site and see what they’re up to in your country.

The Eatery, Vancouver BC
Everything about this place is amazing! From the staff to the food to the Interiors and even down to their menus and online content!
On entry you are greeted by a very large bear/mouse/stuffed animal thing and a friendly waitress who then walks you to your seat through a maze of sea creatures hanging from the ceiling.
I needed ten minutes before I even bothered to look at the menu because I was so distracted by the amazing world we had just stepped into!
Fair play to the designers for pushing the boat out so far on this design. Ballsy but in my opinion with the help of the friendly and fun staff it has paid off 100%
Also on entry to the bathroom they have a collage of Eatery Fans sporting Eatery G-Strings. I have yet to see a pair myself in person...

All you need is a few thousand erotic novels found in a basement and an open minded shop owner and you can create a changing room like this! Spotted in Gas town, Vancouver.

Spotted this mental installation in a Taco Bar in Vancouver. Glass blown balls with bulbs and cactuses in them. All hung with thin copper piping. Where the hell did the designer even start with this idea?! None the less it’s awesome!
