Childhood week! I just saw about it yesterday. So since I haven’t planned ahead I won’t be doing the prompts in order m(_ _)m I’ll just draw whatever comes to mind of my childhood memories while thinking about them, calmly and no stress😅 Day 1: Fly We as children dreamed to fly like superheroes do. But when I thought about the word “fly”, the first memory that popped out of my head was that of my pet fly(or atleast I thought it was my pet). We weren’t allowed to keep pets in the house for economic reasons. But one day this giant fly came to my room and flew on top of my hand. At the time I wasn’t still scared of insects, but remember it had a beautiful iridescent green color and I was so fascinated by it. I carefully stayed still on my desk for it not to go away. I pretended that it was giving me kisses with it’s proboscis(is that what you call it’s mouth?) even though in reality it is tasting it’s surroundings. I stared at it for a long time until I fell asleep. Of coarse when I woke up it was already gone. How TV Cartoons Are Made - A (Mostly) Simplified Guide

When I was in school and wanted to work in animation, there was very little information about how cartoons are actually made. Even my professors at college knew very little about the industry as it is today. I’m sure it would’ve been better to study somewhere in California (like CalArts) to be better informed about this stuff, but I didn’t have that opportunity.

Nowadays, many kids in school have a dream career that they don’t really know much about. There’s a lot of missing bits of information and a lot of straight up lies that get circulated as fact as people try to scramble to put the pieces together on how cartoons for television are actually made.

I’ve been storyboarding for television for a while now, and there still aren’t clear resources for those wanting to get into the industry. I wanted to make the basics available to everyone, so here’s a quick rundown through the TV pipeline. Please note: all studios and productions are different. Even cartoons made within the same studio could have wildly different production guidelines. This is not a concrete explanation of how every cartoon is made; this is simply a generalized look at the “typical” television pipeline.

so i spent some time figuring out how 2 translate this method to perspective guides to create more consistency

I’m using CSP here, but you can do this without CSP and its rulers & figure tool if you take the time to set up perspective guides (itll just take you longer probs)

A friend gave me this little moleskine watercolor sketchbook. I didn't know what to put for the first page so at first I drew aimlessly with a brush pen just to remind myself not to be too precious with this sketchbook, then I did a color swatch of a pocket/travel watercolor pallet that I put together.
