some more specific headcanons from my appalachian!sylvaire musings

sandra lynn is an amazing quilter from a technical standpoint, but she almost never finishes them so mordred has bunches of half- or mostly-finished quilts laying around, the only two she ever successfully finished were the quilt for baxter's stable and fig's crib

(adaine convinces sandra lynn to teach her how to quilt so she can finish them all, and adaine absolutely thrives off the meticulous nature of it)

ivy learns to hide her sylvan accent by binge watching hours of the real housewives of bastion city (she forces oisin to watch with her)

kristen learned to clog when she was little (because the deep south looooves clogging) and while she isn't very good at it because of her dex, it's actually one of the most organic ways she connects with rangers and druids working to restore the NMK forest while working on her church

music is one of the few things fig and sanda lynn don't clash over at all, and fig eventually drops a blue-grass inspired ep (sandra lynn cries the first time she hears it and every time fig plays any of it live)

ivy is the only one of the rat grinders who can tailor and sew clothes and any time they have her fix something for them, she gives it back with added traditional embroidery

sandra lynn has a reputation for being very superstitious among the other rangers (because so much of her family grew up on the edges of the NMK forest), but they trust her judgement more than anyone else out in theountains and also know if something genuinely disturbs her while they're out patrolling, it's time to go

ivy goes back to sylvaire the summer after junior year and has to genuinely reconcile the fact that she tried to help try to kill the person who restored her people's goddess (also i think she retrains her fighter levels that summer, but i go back and forth between druid and paladin)

also i think sandra lynn and ivy are the only people in their immediate circle who can drive stick, which doesn't really have anything to do with appalachia but is just kinda a freebie for you all

SPOILERS FOR A COURT OF FEY AND FLOWERS

Here is TED Talk I did in a discord about my love of Wuvvy from 'A Court Of Fey & Flowers ' it's a bit disjointed, but I think my points still stand.

So, wuvvy Is a warrior. It is something I really think ties into her character more than outwardly thought. Wuvvy was under the control of leaders for most if not all of her life. She has always had someone leading her. A commander, but with rue. A friend. But she grew up as a warrior. So did KP. Wuvvy May see things in KP that she saw in herself that she hates. Duty over love. Wuvvy knows that feeling. She has done that for rue. Rue, the person who loved and appreciated wuvvy, who wuvvy May love back in more than the obvious. Who was her leader but not commander. Rue wouldn't hurt wuvvy. Right? Not until KP. Wuvvy who had seen rue through it all, rue had always kept it together is now being laid bare and repeatedly hurt by a man who sees duty over all else. Wuvvy understands him & hates him for it. Wuvvy loves rue enough to let them hate her if it means rue is safe in wuvvys eyes. Is wuvvy in the right? No. But I think even wuvvy knows this, but this fear wuvvy has been somewhat proven that KP intentionally or not keeps hurting rue. To see the worse parts of yourself in another & to see the person you love & swore to protect reach for them & not you over and over even if they keep getting burns can make people do things they KNOW is wrong. Even if they pretend it isn't.

I truly love wuvvy as a character. She is s complex & painful character that deserves so much. Like therapy

I like how she is clumsy until she knows she cannot be. I think she grew up clumsy but had it trained out of her. In not gree ways. I think with Rue wuvvy doesn't feel the need to a warrior but a friend. When the fight happens she in a way might of in a PTSD kinda way turned bank to a warrior. A killer.

She hates what she was & felt like that version doesn't deserve love

So when KP, all her traits of that time is loved so willingly. It burns.
