Some interactions between Artificer, Survivor and Monk!

The surprise adoption of these strange "pups" went pretty smoothly in Artificer's eyes, but for the almost completely mature siblings... It was a confusing time.

My Arti is very large, almost double the size of average scugs! Necessary for taking down prey. The vanilla siblings on the other hand are still adolescents, and won't grow past the height of her chest.

Chujin is clearly pretty smart so why did he get shamed horribly and why did all of his projects failed.

Not only the obvious award “You Tried in Engineering” but how in official transcripts and records he’s called “Mr. Chujin” instead of Dr. Ketsukane. He is completely disrespected.

But Axis is straight up revolutionary and he stood the test of time better than almost every other robot there, so what happened?

Personally I headcanon he was a slow worker for one reason or another, and was extremely pressured by the environment of the Steamworks, who were always trying to make something new and better as soon as possible, especially as they spiraled towards being decommissioned. If you look at the records describing Chujin’s work with Axis he’d be churning out new models within months of each other. He probably wasn’t given time to work on them, and felt even more pressured, albeit much more indirectly, by Asgore to make up for past mistakes and finally prove he was more than just Mr., that he knew what he was doing and he was skilled. He wanted to impress his coworkers and earn his wife’s respect for him.

This right here is why he wouldn’t tell her he was fired. He knows she thinks highly of him and his intelligence and he wants so bad to keep it that way. That, and his own stubbornness, is why he kept working on Axis after losing his job and having Asgore himself tell him to stop. He would prove he was smart, he would prove this would work, he would show everyone they were wrong about him.

So I think Axis ended up more developed than the ones that barely worked bc once it was an underground thing he had a lot more time to really deervelop him, and he did, that’s like a whole ass dude with a FULL personality and like dreams in there! I mean he made a robot smart enough to want love, to be like traumatized and have guilt, to feel lonely, hell, to think for himself and find loopholes in his own programming. Something to that extent isn’t really seen in the rest of the steamworks or even by UTR. Ceroba was right, he Was smart, he just wasn’t able to thrive at his job, crushed further by mounting disappointment, so he was discarded as practically useless.

But I think his pride and biases did deafen him to taking in some things that he probably should’ve listened to, like Asgore, as he’d learn later, bc he was so stubborn about succeeding. Perhaps some things would’ve been better laid to rest.

Just some thoughts, might share some more headcanon-y thoughts on Axis himself.
