Hi! I sent in the Leliana question, thank you so much for the detailed answer! I never knew her comment about a friend Warden was different depending on the gender, or she even had a low-approval comment.
No problem! It's what I'm here for ♡

Hi! I really love the project and all the work you've been doing so far. <3 I wanted to ask if you knew what Leliana's HoF dialogue is if you defiled the ashes but she's still alive and if it changes at all if she's romanced with doing the same? I'm not sure if it's possible in-game but Keep allows that worldstate. I would assume it's the typical "trusted friend" and "my love", but I was curious.
Hello! This is actually my canon world-state, and it is possible in game. If Leliana is with you when you defile the Ashes, you can either kill her or intimidate her. Intimidation does not end the romance - it only lowers approval (that can be regained with gifts!). If she is not in the party at the Temple, when you return to camp she will either leave or be persuaded to stay (I think the Warden can lie to her? I'm hazy on the details).
The DA:I romance dialogue only requires the plot flag of "Leliana romanced" to be true, and "Leliana died" to be false. When you ask her about the Hero of Ferelden, she has 6 possible responses:
romanced, Warden died (and Leliana was not killed by the Warden) We were in love. Even in the midst of all the chaos, I was happy. Truly happy. And then [they]… I’m sorry, I’d rather not talk about this. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
romanced, Warden alive (and Leliana was not killed by the Warden) [They are] always in my thoughts, even when we’re far apart. My love is on a quest of [their] own. When the Inquisition has no further need of me, I will join [them]. For good, this time. I have lost enough. I will not lose [them] as well. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
killed by the Warden The “Hero of Ferelden.” (Laughs.) There are no heroes in real life, just people. And people can do terrible things. Like striking me down, for example. It’s hard not to bear a grudge. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
left the party due to low approval/crisis The Hero of Ferelden was not what I expected. We traveled together in the early days of the Blight, but joining was a mistake. We never got along. I was young and had silly ideas. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
any other approval level, Warden died I had the privilege of calling [them] “friend” before [they] died. The world seemed much duller after that. It still does. ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ
any other approval level, Warden alive I count her among my closest friends. She’s probably the only person I trust completely. I haven’t heard from her in some time. She just… disappeared. I try not to think of what might have happened. or I count him among my closest friends. I still write to him for advice when I can. He hasn’t replied to my letters in some time. I try not to worry about it. He can take care of himself.
Interestingly, the plot flag ID for "Leliana died" is not the same as "Leliana was killed at the Urn." Using the plot flag editor, there are two different flags for her death:
Did the Warden kill Leliana after destroying the Sacred Ashes? - Did the Warden kill Leliana after a crisis unrelated to the Urn of Sacred Ashes?
Both of these plot flags are found in in the DA:I files, but her conversations with the Herald/Inquisitor about dying at the Temple of Sacred Ashes use the flag for "Did the Warden kill Leliana after a crisis unrelated to the Urn of Sacred Ashes?", and not the one that is... actually about the Ashes. I don't actually know if it's possible to kill her in any other way in DA:O, honestly.
Hope this helps :)
Edit: Sorry looking back at the question, I never really answered. If you defile the Ashes and do not kill Leliana, the game will go based off the romance/approval flag - DA:I doesn't read the "Warden defiled the ashes" flag, only Leliana's fate.

Skyhold Conversations
Warden Alistair
Skyhold Masterpost Related Quest: Here Lies the Abyss
The PC can speak to Alistair up on the battlements.
Speaking to Alistair before the Western Approach: Alistair: We should get to that ritual tower in the Western Approach, ideally before it lives up to its name.
Speaking to Alistair after the Western Approach: Alistair: I can’t stand this. How many Grey Wardens died here? And for what? Erimond and the Grey Wardens are definitely holed up at Adamant Fortress, by the way. Don’t know if Hawke told you.
Alistair: Need something else?
1 - Dialogue options:
Investigate (Hero of Ferelden survived): Where is the Hero of Ferelden? [2]
Investigate: You fought in the Blight? [3]
Investigate: Tell me about the Wardens. [4]
Investigate (after Western Approach): How could they pay this price? [5]
Investigate (after Western Approach): Who is leading the Wardens? [6]
Investigate: What do the Wardens know? [7]
General: Goodbye. [8]
2 - Investigate: Where is the Hero of Ferelden? PC: Was the Hero of Ferelden involved in all this?
Alistair: I’m not sure. After we defeated the Archdemon, [they were] made Warden-Commander of Ferelden. [They] disappeared some time ago, not long before I started investigating rumors of Corypheus. [They] may have joined the Orlesian Wardens after I went into exile. If so, hopefully [they’ll] be on our side. Alistair (Morrigan did dark ritual): But I wouldn’t count on it. When we fought the Archdemon, [they] did things that… [They] walk a dark path.
Alistair (HoF rules w/ Anora): I couldn’t say. I was exiled after [they] decided [they] preferred Anora’s company.
Alistair (romanced but HoF): No, [they] left before any of this began. A mission of [their] own, something personal. We Wardens don’t live that long. The Calling I spoke of, the real one—before it went crazy—eventually it kills us. The thing is, when we killed the Archdemon… we discovered that might not be as set in stone as we thought. So [they’re] searching for a way to end the curse. For both of us. Maybe for us all.
9 - Dialogue options:
Investigate: Why aren’t you together? [10]
Investigate: You can end the Calling? [11]
Investigate: Have you been happy? [12]
Investigate: Could [they] help us? [13]
[back to 1]
10 - Investigate: Why aren’t you together? PC: The way you talk about [them], I’m surprised you aren’t still together. Alistair: Oh, there was a discussion, believe me. Someone had to look into the rumors about Corypheus. We didn’t know what was involved at the time. [They] were going to stay to help, but we had a lead that couldn’t wait. One of us had to go. When I’m done here, we’ll be together again. Forever, this time. [back to 9] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 11 - Investigate: You can end the Calling? PC: How can the Calling be stopped? If that actually possible? Alistair: Grand Enchanter Fiona was once a Warden, so I’m told, but had the taint completely drawn out of her. There was also a Warden named Avernus who extended his life far beyond what should have been possible. So we looked into it. We weren’t going to give up without a fight. That’s when we found a rumor that meant going deep into the west. It wasn’t much, but we’ve done more with less. My love will find a way. I’m certain of it. [back to 9] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 12 - Investigate: Have you been happy? PC: Have you been happy with [them] in the years since the Blight? Alistair: Happier than I ever dreamed possible. [They’re] more than I deserve… and I hope I make [their] days easier as well. [They] were rebuilding the Wardens in Ferelden, while I hunted darkspawn left over from the Blight. It was hard work for both of us, but we always had each other. [back to 9] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 13 - Investigate: Could [they] help us? PC: If [they’ve] been looking for a way to stop the Calling, perhaps [they] could help us. Alistair (after Western Approach): I doubt it. This false Calling that Corypheus created isn’t the same as the real one. Still, it couldn’t hurt to check. [They’re] deep into the west by now, but I have a way to contact [them]. Alistair: I’ll give the information to your people in the war room. If nothing else. I’d like to warn [them] about Corypheus. [back to 9]
3 - Investigate: You fought in the Blight? I’m going to be answering that question for the rest of my life. Yes, I was there. It was big. The Hero of Ferelden was brave. But that was ten years ago. “What have you done for use lately, Alistair?” New time, new problems. [back to 1]
4 - Investigate: Tell me about the Wardens. PC: What’s it like being a Warden? Alistair: Oh, it’s wonderful! You get fresh peaches delivered every morning, first choice of local village girls, and bunnies, too! Well maybe it’s not that. Not even close to that. (Sighs.) I watched my brothers die at Ostagar soon after I joined. Never thought I’d see Wardens kill themselves.
Dialogue options:
Special: Why were they after you? [14]
[back to 1]
14 - Special: Why were they after you? PC: Why were the Wardens trying to kill you? Alistair: When Clarel started talking blood magic and demons to deal with the Calling, I said it wasn’t a good idea. First it was awkward silences and some coughing… but when I mentioned Corypheus, things went really wild. The Warden mages said I was interfering, called me a traitor. Funny how often that happens to me. [back to 1]
5 - Investigate: How could they pay this price? PC: How could the Wardens willing sacrifice their own to summon demons? Alistair: I know it sounds nutty. Being a Warden makes us special, but it comes with a heavy price. You have to walk away from your old life and be prepared to do anything to stop the next Blight. And we are they only ones who can, the only ones willing to make the decisions—the sacrifices—to do that. You wouldn’t understand. Or, well, with that mark on your hand, maybe you would. [back to 1]
6 - Investigate: Who is leading the Wardens? PC: You mentioned Warden-Commander Clarel. Is she behind this? Alistair: She’s the one who summoned me and the other Wardens to Orlais when she started hearing the Calling. I don’t know her well. She’s a mage—smart, careful, determined. The sort of mage the the templars told me to keep a close watch over. Makes her the best kind of Warden. Or at least, I would have thought so. Maybe the templars aren’t wrong about *everything.
Dialogue options:
Special: Is Corypheus controlling her? [15]
[back to 1]
15 - Special: Is Corypheus controlling her? PC: Do you think she’s helping Corypheus willingly or was she duped? Alistair: Clarel would never serve somethin that looks like a darkspawn willingly. I heard about an “advisor” of some kind though. Maybe we’ll learn more at the Western Approach. [back to 1] (this is a follow-up conversation to the above that is only triggered after the Western approach? I’m not sure what the deal is here.)
7 - Investigate: What do the Wardens know? PC: Corypheus was held in a Warden prison, right? So the Wardens should know all about him? Alistair: You'd think the Wardens would share information with each other, but they’re really big on keeping secrets. Maybe they think some knowledge is too dangerous? I don’t know. For most Wardens, he’d be nothing more than an old legend, dead long ago. If they knew of him at all. [back to 1]
8 - Goodbye. PC: We’ll talk later. Alistair: Another time, then.

Redcliffe Ambient Dialogue
In Hushed Whispers
The Hinterlands Masterpost Related Quest: In Hushed Whispers
Before completing In Hushed Whispers:
Mage 1: What’s happening?
Mage 2: I… I don’t like this. Something strange is happening.
Mage 1: Demons in the countryside. Are these the end times?
Mage 1: What was the grand enchanter thinking, inviting Tevinter here?
Mage 2: I’ve been saying for years, mages gotta stick with mages.
Mage 2: Of course, we called Tevinter. Who else would help up?
Mage 1: I voted for freedom, not to be annexed by Tevinter.
Mage 1: We should have never left the Circles.
Mage 2: We’re never going back. I’d die first.
After completing In Hushed Whispers:
Villager: The Inquisition saved us!
Villager: The Inquisition had those magisters running with their tails between their legs.
Villager 2: The mages are gone. I say good riddance.
Villager 2: Redcliffe is our home. No magister can take it away.
Villager 2: Hail the Inquisition! Redcliffe is ours again!
Villager: We should have chased down those Tevinter bastards and made them pay for what they did.
Villager: I hope the Inquisition dragged those mages off to a hole somewhere.

Redcliffe Conversations
Revered Mother Eglantine
The Hinterlands Masterpost Related Quest: In Hushed Whispers
The PC approaches Mother Eglantine near the Redcliffe Chantry.
Mother Eglantine: They say Andraste sent you to save the world. If it’ll help save lives and bring peace, I’ll be the first to believe.
Dialogue options:
General: I’ll do my best. [1]
General: You sound doubtful. [2]
General: I don’t care what you believe. [3]
1 - General: I’ll do my best. PC: I’m trying. I hope I don’t disappoint. Mother Eglantine: I hope so too.
2 - General: You sound doubtful. PC: I don’t have to worry about you falling at my feet in worship, then? That has been tiresome… Mother Eglantine: I believe we must tend to our own lives to find salvation.
3 - General: I don’t care what you believe. PC: Your beliefs mean nothing to me. Mother Eglantine: Good. Perhaps the adulation of thousands won’t go to your head.
4 - Scene continues.
5 - Dialogue options:
Investigate: Do you support the mages? [6]
Investigate: Are you alone here? [7]
Investigate: Do you support this alliance? [8]
General: Goodbye. [9]
6 - Investigate: Do you support the mages? PC: Are you working for the mage rebellion? Mother Eglantine: Mages are children of the Maker, no less than the rest of us. They struggle no less with questions of faith.
Dialogue options:
Special: Should there be Circles? [10]
[back to 5]
10 - Special: Should there be Circles? PC: Does that mean you support their freedom? Mother Eglantine: Given a choice between the Circle and death, most mages willingly gave up some small freedoms for safety. But the pendulum swings, and now it seems any restraint is too much. I think they should have the chance to prove they deserve freedom. [back to 5]
7 - Investigate: Are you alone here? PC: I don’t see any other priests in the village. Where is everybody? Mother Eglantine: The magister had the others “escorted” out, but I refused. He can throw me out if he wants. Until then, I tend to my flock. [back to 5]
8 - Investigate: Do you support this alliance? PC: What are you feelings on the mages working with Tevinter? Mother Eglantine: The Imperium burned Andraste. Since then, we have led four Exalted Marches against them. Yet, in all those Marches, they still acknowledged the Maker. Now, I speak of Him, and the magisters laugh. Something has happened, and I dread to learn what. [back to 5]
9 - General: Goodbye. PC: I will leave you to your duties. Mother Eglantine: Maker speed you, my child.
If spoken to after IHW is completed: Mother Eglantine: I’m still getting used to having all the mages gone again. The magister left so much hatred in his wake. I wish you luck healing those wounds.

Redcliffe Conversations
Talwyn
The Hinterlands Masterpost Related Quest: In Hushed Whispers
The PC approaches Talywn in Redcliffe.
Talwyn: Inquisition, huh? I wish to Holy Andraste you’d gotten here sooner. These Tevinters make my shoulder blades itch.
1 - Dialogue options:
Investigate: Tell me about yourself. [2]
Investigate: You don’t Tevinter? [3]
Investigate: Tell me about the alliance. [4]
General: I should go. [5]
1 - Investigate: Tell me about yourself. PC: Who are you? Talwyn: name’s Talwyn, formerly of the Circle of Magi in Hossberg. Lived my whole life there, since I was ten and came into my magic. Three meals a day, quality education, a roof over my head. If you’re not summoning demons, a mage’s tower is a fine place to be.
Dialogue options:
Special: Aren’t you with the rebellion? [6]
[back to 1]
6 - Special: Aren’t you with the rebellion? PC: If you were happy in the Circle, why are you here with the rebels? Talwyn: We’re all rebels now. The vote saw to that. The majority wanted to dissolve the Circles. The rest of us went with them or were cut loose. Vivienne (if in party): There are still some of us who are loyal in the empress’s court. Talwyn (Vivienne not in party): I figured I’m better off with my fellow mages than on my own.
2 - Investigate: You don’t Tevinter? PC: You’re not happy with this new alliance? Talwyn: Something’s not right with that lot. They’re not like us. Magic or no, I’d rather count myself among decent folk than sand with magisters.
3 - Investigate: Tell me about the alliance. PC: How did the grand enchanter end up working with Tevinter? Talwyn: One minute, we were bracing for the templars to attack, The next, we had a magister ally. It was a stroke of luck that’s given us an edge… in a way. Out of the frying pan…
4 - General: I should go. PC: Goodbye. Talwyn: Be careful. The Tevinters likely aren’t happy you’re asking questions.
Talwyn: I’d leave while you can.

Hanley D'Urvain
The Hinterlands Masterpost Related Quest: In Hushed Whispers
The PC speaks to one of the mages in the Gull and Lantern.
Hanley: The Inquisition! Thank the Maker you came. Tell me you’re here to reinstate the Circles and end this madness?
1 - Dialogue options:
Investigate: Who are you? [2]
Investigate: Why do you want Circles? [3]
Investigate: Let’s talk about Tevinter. [4]
General: I must be going. [5]
2 - Investigate: Who are you? PC: I’m sorry, I didn't get your name. Hanley: Hanley D’Urvain of the Cumberland Circle of Magi. I heard of your miraculous survival at the Temple of Sacred Ashes, and I’m so honored to meet you.
3 - Investigate: Why do you want Circles? PC: I thought this was the stronghold of the rebellion. Why do you want the Circles back? Hanley: I never supported this rebellion. I’m a loyal Andrastian, and I deplore the chaos this war had wrought.
Dialogue options:
Special: Then why are you here? [6]
[back to 1]
6 - Special: Then why are you here? PC: Then what are you doing in Redcliffe? Hanley: The Circles voted. Rebellion won out. What was I to do, launch a counter-rebellion on my own? I follow my first enchanter’s lead, as I always have. She brought us here. [back to 1]
4 - Investigate: Let’s talk about Tevinter. PC: I take it you don’t support the Tevinters? Hanley: Andraste’s ashes! Never. They don’t even sing the right Chant! And they sacrifice children, don’t they? I don’t know how the grand enchanter could even think of accepting their offer. You can get us out of this bargain, can’t you? Before we’re all shipped to the Imperium like cattle?
Dialogue options:
Special: Where are they? [7] [back to 1]
7 - Special: Where are they? PC: I haven’t seen anyone from Tevinter in the village. Hanley: They’re all at the castle. Plotting, no doubt. [back to 1]
5 - General: I must be going. PC: Thank you for your time. Hanley: It’s been an honor.

In Hushed Whispers: Deleted Dialogue
Related Quest: In Hushed Whispers
Various snippets of dialogue that didn’t make it into the final cut of the game - listed in scene order.
Varric: Walking into a trap. This bring back some memories.
Cassandra: Let us hope this ends better than your stories wound. Varric: Not up for a frantic run through the castle with three dragons on your heels, Seeker?
Solas: Let us hope this ends as just one more for your collection.
Vivienne: Shall we go in?
Varric: Just keep Alexius talking until our agents have finished their dirty work. You ready?
Vivienne: We shouldn’t keep the magister waiting, my dear. He’s so been looking forward to this.
Sera: Oh, of course. Can’t have fancypants knot his knickers.
Cassandra: I’m sure he is. I hope we’re as prepared.
Iron Bull: Sooner we get inside, sooner I can hit something.
Vivienne: Let’s try not to start a fight until Leliana’s people have finished their work, shall we?
Blackwall: It’s a brave thing you’re doing. Let’s hope we live to talk about it.
Sera: Is “brave” just another way of saying “dumb”?
Blackwall: Just remember: we have to keep Alexius busy until his reinforcements have been dealt with.

Howdy!
Just a little heads up: I'm going to be re-making most of my masterposts over the next couple of weeks to swap them over to the new editor. It also makes the banner images crispier!
If you have posts tagged and bookmarked for reference, sorry in advance! Luckily I think it's pretty easy to find me/find what you're looking for on the blog :)

Hi! First off, your dedication to this is astounding, tysm for all the work you do 😭!!! I was wondering if you'd yet transcripted the bit where PC asks Varric about the Champion of Kirkwall and has the opportunity to learn about specific companions? I asked early on, and then a couple days later met King Alistair in Redcliffe (in my DAO playthru, Alistair remained with the Grey Warden) and realized my keep hadn't synced. Sadly the dialogue option is gone for me now :,(
Hello and thank you!!!
Sorry it took a little while, but here you go! Hopefully this is the conversation you were talking about :)

Varric Conversation: Investigate
I Have Questions About Hawke
Varric Masterpost
PC: I’ve read your Tales of the Champion, and I have a few questions.
Varric: That’s a pretty common reaction. Go ahead.
1 - Dialogue options:
Investigate (Anders alive): What happened to Anders? [2]
Investigate: Orsino’s fate made no sense. [3] -Varric slightly disapproves
Investigate (Arishock killed): You made up the Arishok fight. [4]
Investigate (Arishock lived): What happened to the Arishok? [5]
Investigate: Where are Hawke’s friends? [6]
General: Never mind. [7]
2 - Investigate: What happened to Anders? PC: What happened to the mage who destroyed the Chantry? The book never said.
Varric (Hawke sided mages): He fled Kirkwall with the mages from the Circle. Stayed with them a while. But he had to move on. Somehow, a lot of mages blamed him for making them live a fugitives. Varric (Hawke sided templars): Hawke made him stay to help put out the fire he caused. But he eventually moved on. Nobody else wanted him in Kirkwall.
Varric: I don’t know where he is now, and I don’t want to know. [back to 1]
3 - Investigate: Orsino’s fate made no sense. PC: In the book, you say that First Enchanter Orsino turned himself into a giant monster made of corpses. How? Why? Varric: Do I look like an expert on magical weirdness to you? I can’t tell you how. As for the “why,” all I can say is he was desperate. [back to 1]
4 - Investigate: You made up the Arishok fight. PC: There’s no way Hawke really could have killed the Arishok. It would have started a war with the Qunari. Varric: Apparently, the Arishok didn’t get permission before he attacked Kirkwall, and the Qun didn’t want another Exalted March. When they finally sent a ship to haul the wrecked dreadnought away, they just said, “We will never speak of this again.” As far as I can tell, that’s the Qun’s version of an apology. [back to 1]
5 - Investigate: What happened to the Arishok? PC: Your book doesn’t say what happened after the Arishok left Kirkwall. Varric: He kind of… lost the Tome of Koslun again. Along with the thief. As I understand it, he returned to Par Vollen to find the Qunari equivalent of a court-martial waiting for him. There’s a new guy named Arishok now, and asking about the old one is a nightmare of logic and grammar. [back to 1]
6 - Investigate: Where are Hawke’s friends? PC: Where are the rest of Hawke’s associates?
If Merrill is alive and stayed with Hawke: Varric: Merrill decided to look after the elves left homeless by the fighting. She’s done a pretty good job of keeping them away from the mages and templars so far. I guess she had plenty of practice avoiding stupid human battles with her old Dalish clan.
If Fenris is alive and stayed with Hawke Varric: Fenris has kept himself busy, hunting down the Tevinter slavers who came south to prey on the refugees. I’m not sure exactly where he is at the moment. You can usually follow the trail of corpses, though.
If Isabella stayed with Hawke Varric: Isabella went back to the raiders. She’s calling herself an admiral now. I don’t know if she’s actually in charge or just has a really big hat. Might be the same thing, honestly.
If Sebastian was recruited: Varric: Sebastian went back to Starkhaven. I’m sure he’s boring all sorts of people there.
If Hawke was not a mage and Bethany survived the Deep Roads: Varric: Last I knew, Hawke’s little sister Bethany was doing something Wardeny near the Anderfels border.
If Hawke was not a mage and Bethany did not go to the Deep Roads: Varric: Hawke’s little sister is in the Free Marches, helping some of the other survivors from the Kirkwall Circle.
If Hawke was a mage and Carver survived the Deep Roads: Varric: Hawke’s little brother was off on some Warden business near the Anderfels border last I knew.
If Hawke was a mage and Carver did not go to the Deep Roads: Varric: Hawke’s little brother Carver is still in the Free Marches, helping the Kirkwall guard keep order.
Varric: Aveline is still guard-captain. I’m pretty sure Kirkwall would fall right into the sea if she quit her job. [back to 1]
7 - General: Never mind. PC: Carry on.

Cassandra Conversation: Investigate
Tell Me About Yourself
Cassandra Masterpost
PC: I’d like to get to know you better.
Low/neutral approval [1]
High approval [2]
1 - Low/neutral approval
Cassandra: You would?
PC: Is that a problem?
Cassandra: Not entirely. I’m just curious as to your motivation
Dialogue options:
Flirt: I’d like us to be closer. [3] -Cassandra slightly disapproves
General: Just being friendly. [4] +Cassandra approves
General: Suspicious, aren’t you? [5] -Cassandra slightly disapproves
General: Just tell me. [6]
3 - Flirt: I’d like us to be closer. PC: Is there any harm in us becoming a little closer? Cassandra: Plenty. PC: (Chuckles.) Is that right? Cassandra: (Sighs.) As you wish. [11]
4 - General: Just being friendly. PC: No motivation beyond making things between us less… Cassandra: Antagonistic? PC: Exactly. Cassandra: (Sighs.) As you wish. [11]
5 - General: Suspicious, aren’t you? PC: You’re a very suspicious person, you know that? Cassandra: When it’s warranted. PC: I can see why you have so many friends. Cassandra: (Sighs.) As you wish. [11]
6 - General: Just tell me. PC: Just answer the question. [11]
2 - High approval:
Cassandra: There’s… not much to know.
Dialogue options:
Flirt: Such modesty! [7]
General: I’m not trying to pry. [8]
General: That can’t be true. [9]
General: Just tell me something. [10]
7 - Flirt: Such modesty! PC: (Laughs.) You’re being modest? Cassandra: Do you think me a braggart? PC: No. I think you’re interesting. Cassandra: (Sighs.) As you wish. [11]
8 - General: I’m not trying to pry. PC: If you don’t want to talk, I’ll— Cassandra: No, I just… oh, very well. [11]
9 - General: That can’t be true. PC: I’m sure that’s not true. Cassandra: (Sighs.) As you wish. [11]
10 - General: Just tell me something. PC: It’s not that hard, Cassandra. Just tell me something. Cassandra: (Sighs.) As you wish. [11]
11 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: My name is Cassandra Pentaghast, daughter of the royal house of Nevarra, seventy-eighth in line for the Nevarran throne. I joined the Seekers of Truth as a young woman, and was with the Order until they withdrew from the Chantry. I remained as the Divine’s Right Hand, carrying out her order to form the Inquisition–and here we are. That’s all there is to know, my [lord/lady].
12 - Dialogue options:
Investigate: You’re Nevarran royalty? [13]
Investigate: You worked for the Divine? [14]
General: That’s all for now. [15]
13 - Investigate: You’re Nevarran royalty? PC: You’re a member of Nevarra’s royal family? Cassandra: The Pentaghasts are a very large clan. Half of Cumberland could say the same. Herald: Really? Cassandra: No, but it feels that way. I have hundreds of relatives so distant, they need charts to prove we’re related at all. And they have them, oh, yes. The Pentaghasts value their precious blood like it runs with gold.
Dialogue options:
General: Is that why you left Nevarra? [16]
General: So you’re not on good terms. [17]
General: Others would be thankful. [18] -Cassandra slightly disapproves
16 - General: Is that why you left Nevarra? PC: And you joined the Seekers to get away from that? Cassandra: It was a life worth getting away from.[19]
17 - General: So you’re not on good terms. PC: So not on very good terms with your family, then? Cassandra: I do not visit, if that’s what you mean.[19]
18 - General: Others would be thankful. PC: You don’t think being noble gave you opportunities others don’t have? Cassandra: An opportunity to be decadent, perhaps. To be useless to anyone but myself. [19]
19 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: The Pentaghasts are famed for dragon-hunting, but few actually pursue the craft. Most are fat and lazy. They pay lip service to the Maker and care only for idle pleasures and past glories. My brother was all that kept me in Nevarra. Once he was gone, so was I.
20 - Dialogue options:
Investigate: Tell me about Nevarra. [21]
Investigate: What happened to your brother? [22]
[Back to 12]
21 - Investigate: Tell me about Nevarra. PC: You don’t seem to like your homeland much. Cassandra: My family polluted it for me. What little I saw of my homeland was through the bars of a gilded cage. My uncle treated me like a porcelain doll to be placed on a shelf and dusted only when necessary. Thus I did not see Nevarra, the real Nevarra, until much later. By then I realized I knew it not at all.
Dialogue options:
Special: What about your parents? [23]
[Back to 20]
23 - Special: What about parents? PC: Your uncle? What about your parents? Cassandra: They had the misfortune of taking the wrong side in the second attempt to overthrow King Markus. The king executed them, but spared my brother and I since we were family, and children at the time. Thus we were raised by my uncle, a Mortalitasi who preferred the company of his corpses to the living.
Dialogue options:
Special: “Mortalitasi”? [24]
[Back to 20]
24 - Special: “Mortalitasi”? PC: Your uncle was a… Mortalitasi? Cassandra: A death mage. He still is. My countrymen do not burn the dead; they bury them in special crypts. The Mortalitasi supervise the crypts, like priests. Uncle Vestalus oversees the Grand Necropolis. Nevarrans spend more time there honouring dead relatives than they do with living ones. It is odd to be so fascinated with death and its trappings. I will never understand it. [back to 20]
22 - Investigate: What happened to your brother? Cassandra (low approval): I’d rather not. Cassandra (neutral approval): I… would prefer not to speak of Anthony. Another time, perhaps.
Cassandra (high approval): Anthony was older than I, a dragon hunter who showed what a Pentaghast could truly be. I idolized him. I wanted to hunt dragons as he did, even though our uncle forbade it. Anthony promised to train me in secret. We would hunt together one day, brother and sister vanquishing the beasts of old. And then he died on me.
Dialogue options:
General: I shouldn’t have asked. [25]
General: That’s awful. [26]
General: How did he die? [27]
25 - General: I shouldn’t have asked. PC: I’m sorry–I shouldn’t have pried… Cassandra: No. It’s fine. [28]
26 - General: That’s awful. PC: That sounds really awful. Cassandra: It was the end of everything I knew. [28]
27 - General: How did he die? PC: Cassandra: A group of apostates wanted dragon blood, and wanted Anthony to get it for them. He refused, and they killed him for it. In front of me. I begged the Chantry to let me become a templar. Instead, they sent me to the Seekers. It took many years to let go of my drive for vengeance. [28]
28 - Scene continues.
Dialogue options:
General: I understand. [29] +Cassandra slightly approves
General: You blamed all mages? [30]
General: You didn’t let it go. [31] +Cassandra slightly disapproves
29 - General: I understand. PC: I think I understand how you felt. Cassandra: At times I could not breathe; the rage nearly choked me. [32]
30 - General: You blamed all mages? PC: So you blamed all mages for the actions of a few apostates? Cassandra: I was young. Magic was frightening. It all seemed pointless. [32]
31 - General: You didn’t let it go. PC: I’m not so sure you let it go. Cassandra: Not entirely, but now I know the hearts of men are to blame, not magic. [32]
32 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: I sometimes wonder how different my life would be if Anthony was still alive. Would I be a dragon hunter? Married to some noble fool, a mother of three? I cannot say. I take solace in believing the Maker has a plan, but… He is not always kind. [back to 20]
14 - Investigate: You worked for the Divine? PC: So you were the Right Hand to the Divine? Cassandra: To Divine Justinia, yes. And Divine Beatrix before her, in fact. The position is normally reserved for templars of the Knights-Divine, but my circumstances were… unusual. PC: Unusual how? Cassandra: You don’t know the story? Thank the Maker. I will tell you if you wish, but it isn’t as exciting as some drum it up to be. The short version is that I once saved the previous Divine’s life. My reward was becoming her Right Hand.
33 - Dialogue options:
Special: What is a right hand? [34]
Investigate: How did you become Right Hand? [35]
[Back to 12]
34 - Special: What is a right hand? PC: But what does a Right Hand do, exactly? Cassandra: What is your hand capable of? It gives, it takes, it beckons… it makes a fist. Leliana and I extended the Divine’s reach beyond the Grand Cathedral. We went where she could not. After Beatrix, I was tired of the position and wanted to return to the Seekers. But Justinia convinced me to stay. Her vision for the future gave me hope.
Dialogue options:
36 - Special: You believed in her.
[Back to 33]
36 - Special: You believed in her. PC: You thought she could really change things. Cassandra: Justinia knew the war was coming long before it began. She tried to avert it, but the forces arrayed against her were too strong. Sometimes you have to break a bone so it can be reset. That’s where the Inquisition comes in. It was to be the answer: a means to preserve as well as an agent for change. I only wish she had lived to see it.
35 - Investigate: How did you become Right Hand? PC: So, what’s the story about you becoming the Right Hand? Cassandra: Sweet Andraste, do you really want to hear that? It was, what–eighteen, twenty years ago? Some still discuss it like it happened yesterday. The tale gets bigger each time it’s told. I barely recognize myself within it now.
Dialogue options:
General: You’re being modest. [37] General: That’s how stories work. [38] General: So what happened? [39]
37 - General: You’re being modest. PC: I’m sure you’re just being modest. Cassandra: (Snorts.) I was there. I think I know what happened. [40]
38 - General: That’s how stories work. PC: That’s what happens with stories that become legends Cassandra: I am not a legend, nor was I then. I was a young woman, barely out of training. [40]
39 - General: So what happened? PC: You’re stalling. [40]
40 - Scene continues.
Cassandra: To hear others tell it, I alone saved Divine Beatrix from a horde of dragons sent to assault the Grand Cathedral. Rather impressive for such a young Seeker, wouldn’t you say?
PC: And the truth is… ?
Cassandra: I stumbled upon a conspiracy to kill Beatrix. A templar knight-commander was at its heart. And there was a dragon battle at the Grand Cathedral, but I had help from loyal mages who rallied to the cause. They freed the dragons from magical control. Without them, the Divine and I would both have died. Yet I became the Right Hand, and they are forgotten.
41 - Dialogue options:
Investigate: What became of the mages? [42]
Flirt: You’re delightful. [43] +Cassandra slightly approves
General: You’re still a hero. [44]
General: Impressive! [45]
General: Typical of the Chantry. [46]
42 - Investigate: What became of the mages? PC: What happened to the mages that helped you? Cassandra: They went back to their Circles, with rewards and privileges and Most Holy’s gratitude. Many of them died at the Conclave. [back to 41]
43 - Flirt: You’re delightful. PC: (Chuckles.) You’re delightful, you know that? Cassandra: No, I do not know that. PC: Mm-hmm. Cassandra: I object. There is nothing “delightful” about me. PC: I beg to differ. Cassandra (if in Haven): (Sighs.) I think I preferred you in the stocks. Cassandra (if in Skyhold): (Sighs.) Who could have guessed the Inquisitor would be so odd? [back to 12]
44 - General: You’re still a hero. PC: I think you’re a hero, no matter how you downplay it. Cassandra: Fine, but it was twenty years ago. I will not rest upon my laurels. [back to 12]
45 - General: Impressive! PC: An impressive tale! I can see why people enjoy telling it. Cassandra: (Sighs.) Just wait ’til they start telling stories about you. [back to 12]
46 - General: Typical of the Chantry. PC: That’s rather typical of the Chantry, isn’t it? Cassandra: Even worse, few know of the knight-commander’s involvement at all. That sort of willful blindness needs to change. [back to 12]
15 - General: That’s all for now. PC: I’ll let you get back to work.
If the PC speaks to her again:
PC: I have some more questions.
Cassandra (low/neutral approval): Why am I not surprised? Cassandra (high approval): As you wish. [back to 12]

Cassandra Conversation
It Occurs To Me
Cassandra Masterpost
The PC approaches Cassandra to chat for the first time.
Cassandra: It occurs to me I don’t actually know much about you.
PC: What do you want to know?
Cassandra: I’m… not sure. Where are you from?
1 - Dialogue options:
Investigate: You don’t know? [2]
General: [Tell her.] [3]
General: [Make something up.] [4] - Cassandra disapproves
2 - Investigate: You don’t know? PC: I thought you knew that. Cassandra: I suppose I could ask Leliana. She has collected a frightening amount of information on you. But I don’t want to ask her. I want to hear it from you. [back to 1]
3 - General: [Tell her.]
Human non-mage PC PC: I was born in Ostwick, and that’s where most of my family is. Cassandra: The Trevelyans, is it not? A large clan with a rather clever coat-of-arms. Tell me, do you consider the Free Marches your home? Are you eager to go back? [5]
Human PC PC: The Circle of Magi at Ostwick, at least until the rebellion began. Cassandra: Yes, I suppose that… would have required you to stay on the move. Tell me, do you consider the Free Marches your home? Are you eager to go back? [5]
Dalish PC PC: My clan never stayed in one place for long, though we primarily roamed the Free Marches. Cassandra: Oh? I didn’t think your people roamed that far north, but clearly I’m mistaken. I’m told some members of your clan might still be alive. Do you intend to go back? [5]
Dwarf PC PC: Ostwick primarily, though my… business took me around the Free Marches. Cassandra: Ah, the Carta. Odd that organized crime could be a dwarven pastime, but there it is. Tell me, do you consider the Free Marches your home? Are you eager to go back? [5]
Qunari PC PC: No specific place. My mercenary band worked mostly in the Free Marches, however. Cassandra: At least until you crossed the Waking Sea to reach the Conclave, I suppose? Tell me, do you consider the Free Marches your home? Are you eager to go back? [5]
5 - Scene continues.
Dialogue options:
General: I hated it. [6] + Cassandra approves (non-mage human PC)
General: Home is wherever I am. [7] + Cassandra slightly approves
General: Eventually, perhaps. [8]
General: I’d go now, if I had a choice. [9] - Cassandra slightly disapproves
General: None of your business. [10] - Cassandra disapproves
6 - General: I hated it. PC: If I ever go back, it’ll be too soon. Cassandra (human non-mage PC): Yes, I suppose I feel the same way about my own family. Cassandra: Really? That is… good to know, I suppose. [11] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 7 - General: Home is wherever I am. PC: Wherever I am is home enough for me. Cassandra: That’s how I feel now, after years of tending to business for the Divine. [11] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 8 - General: Eventually, perhaps. PC: I might, once this is done. Cassandra: It will not be the same once you do. [11] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 9 - General: I’d go now, if I had a choice. PC: I’d go home right now if I could. Cassandra: Then I hope you can, once this business is done. [11] ㅤㅤ ㅤ ㅤ 10 - General: None of your business. PC: That’s no business of yours. Cassandra: True enough. [11]
4 - General: [Make something up.] PC: I came here from Seheron, actually. Cassandra: That far away? PC: My family came there from the northern islands. We landed there after crossing the great ocean. Cassandra: The… great ocean? PC: Yes. Lands in the far East have mountains twice as large as the ones here. Cassandra: I see. Perhaps asking Leliana was the better choice after all. [11]
11 - Scene ends.
