I don’t get people that can be fuming mad with you one second then seemingly fine the next.

Just a minute ago you were shouting at me and telling me you couldn’t stand to be near me and that ‘it is not wise to talk back when you’re this pissed off’ etc. And then your tone is back to normal and conversation is fine and it’s like it never happened.

Nor do I understand people who won’t hear out an explanation before getting mad. If I’m trying to explain ‘well I didn’t clean the kitchen properly yet because I have an order, so that everything gets cleaned as well as it can be most efficiently, and I knew that not much later on I would have to redo it all possibly out of order because of this factor. So I instead believed that this outcome would be optimal, considering the facts I had, but you changed that and as such my reasonable planning was disrupted and you got mad that I didn’t do it your way.’

Gender is confusing and I have literally no idea who decides what is and isn’t for girls or boys. It’s just an activity, it’s just a place, just food or drink or clothes or objects. Why do they belong to a gender.

Personally I think it would be fabulous to go bug hunting in a princess dress. I want to curtsy in a suit and bow tie. I want to sweat like a pig while I’m wearing frilly lace. I want to exist within my own body in whatever way makes me feel joy. And yet, somehow, that joy is gendered. Why do boys and girls have to have different things? It’s an arbitrary sorting system.

If history taught us anything it’s that culture and social norms dictate these roles, not biology. Or else, we would see the exact same across all time periods across the world. It’s not like smiling or crying, those are universal. It’s like the table manners in high society. They’re all different. Always changing and shifting. Gender is pointless so why do we keep pushing for it as a system? Can’t people just decide who they are themselves?

I just heard more news about the uk deciding trans women are being stripped of their rights bit by bit. This time they aren’t allowed to play women’s football. ‘

But that’s not true or fair. Biological differences in body composition can’t compensate for the skill and training and time that its taken an athlete to get where they are. This is not about fairness to women. This is about singling out people who are different and pushing them further away.

They are trying to make an ‘us or them’ it’s not going to be Manchester vs Liverpool football. It’s going to be ‘normal’ football vs ‘trans’ football. And that’s ludicrous. It is not cis people vs trans people. It is the wealthy, loud minority that are trying to silence the majority, trying to make us think it’s normal to turn on each other.

The uk isn’t going in all guns blazing like America, but the same things are happening. Immigrants, queer people, when will it be disabled people? When will it be anyone of colour, even if they were born here? When will it be women? When will it be you?

The only ‘us’ is people fighting to protect each other and ‘them’ is those trying to separate us. Don’t be them. Don’t be complicit in breaking a family apart, don’t stand by while people die, don’t stand by while the higher ups try and make it seem like someone else’s existence is a threat to your own. They are trying to change the social order, and it will be exclusionary. People died fighting for you to have rights. Whoever is reading this. Unless you are an able bodied, mentally healthy, white, straight, cisgender man, someone somewhere has died for your rights to exist. They fought tirelessly. Don’t let the propaganda change you. Don’t be complicit. Speak out and make things fair while you still can.

I love that I unironically get to talk about rwby in my essay for uni. Like I just get analyse season 9 and what the heck was going on there.

It’s for an essay on surrealism in film but I’m making a point about how surrealism is perpetuated by those with less to lose because they don’t need to have this big box office income, it’s art for the love of it and by god is it wonderful.

Even if I think that season 9 was a weird direction to go considering the rest of the story, I LOVED the visuals. Ate it up. Yummy yummy in my tummy

I hadn’t thought much about it, but I just saw a post about how someone felt happier not naming their alters, and it felt better for them.

And I know that for a lot of people naming them/alters naming themselves is helpful for them.

I hadn’t thought a lot about why all of us have names and identities. Why we’re so distinct, and like to keep it that way. But I think, paying attention to it, it’s a bunch of reasons. One, it’s easier to categorise things that have names. It’s easier to figure out what and who goes where and which memories ‘belong to’ who (in a ‘they experienced it firsthand’ way, and they get to share (or not) their memories)

If we have different names, then we know what we need when we’re different. We can say ‘this alter responds best to this’ instead of ‘when we’re like this, this usually helps? Unless…’

With names, it helps us distinguish how we feel at a certain moment in time. It’s sort of like a recognition, ‘this is who I am and how I feel’, before we move on and just exist.

We’ve described it a bit like a gamertag, or pseudonym, our ‘name’ (birth name and dandy) it’s like a bunch of people who use the same online account for a game, all at different times, but are all the same character. But they each okay the game a bit differently and need the settings adjusted. Or like, a group of people writing a book series under one name (like daisy meadows, who wrote one of our favourite series as a child) it’s all different people, and unless you get really attuned to the small differences, from the outside it seems the same and all the separate people are happy to be part of that ‘one’ person, but behind it all they still have unique differences, however small. They all answer to the same name and hold the same identity, but within it they’re separate and ‘them’

I think it helps us ground ourselves too. In a way, by saying ‘I’m probably this alter’ we can solidify blurriness. We can move from a fog of many of us into a focus, because we can name it. A bit like how in psychology, with the bystander effect you have to say ‘you with the yellow cardigan!’ (Totally not a reference) to pick someone out of the crowd to help you.

I think it also might be from how much we daydreamed. We found comfort in playing pretend and assuming other identities for a long time, so now it’s still a bit like that.

But I know we frequently say ‘I know what you’re thinking, we share a brain’ to each other. We often laugh and joke about it. Somehow separate but the same.

I think someone described it to the littles (or at least someone regressed) that being a system is like being a cake. Most people are a whole cake, frosted and decorated and lovely. People with did are exactly the same, and all the cake is still kept together, but it’s been sliced. Each slice is an alter, but it’s still all the same cake.

Tried taking the bottom couple of layers off a dress I had that I didn’t want as long anymore and I fear I may have ruined it.

It’s easy enough to hem it and wear it short, but like, I don’t think I can pull that off. Man. I just ruined a perfectly good dress.

We accidentally planned on wearing a wool jumper for our cosplay im a week or so… but the weather is too warm.

Our mum helped us find a new cosplay with a different character, so we could still go to con in cosplay. But we don’t wear wigs, so we had a look at characters that we like that are blonde (like us)

Alice, from Alice in wonderland (various adaptations) was what we/raven chose. But it’s pulled me out to front and just generally, I think we all had forgotten how much we loved it. But it’s making us feel safe again. It’s been a while since we’ve been able to even think about it because of some events that transpired a while ago, but I think that this is going to be good for us. It feels good. I feel calm.
