Omegaverse has finally landed in mainstream media.
From Thai BL adapting omegaverse to the first omegaverse anime, this genre has come far away. And this genre, while problematic as pointed out by many people and not very well depicted in mainstream media yet, is very popular especially among women.
And I can see why.
The feeling of having a lovely family, very well written/drawn/made fan content and it feels familiar and also tickles very old, almost instinctive parts of our brains.
But omegaverse also is a mirror of our own society. The alphas, the betas and omegas follow the very binaries of our everyday life. Alphas are the providers (often the male population), the Betas (both genders , the working class) and Omegas ( the breeders, or whose main role in the society is to give birth, like women).
But one thing is quite different in Omegaverse as, almost always it's not women but men are considered Omegas. Yes, they are written as soft, submissive and yes they are able to give birth.
And this is one point, I find interesting. Because I'm just coming back from the poster teaser of the first omegaverse anime and comments, made by mostly men, are laughable. Because they find it inconceivable. Men giving birth?? Hell no! Atrocious.
But many of them are perfectly fine the self-proclaimed Alpha males like Andrew Tate. Or proclaiming a "waifu" anime character who is an overtly sexualised 15-16 years old teenager high school girls. But that's supposedly not problematic. Nope. (Female body objectification and the apologists will have to be a separate story).
Now see. Omegaverse content talks about all the dark things that happen in our real society like (TW/)se*ual abuse, r*pe, domestic violence and more, by Alphas ( often men) to Omegas ( often men) . Omegaverse content too, often detest abortions and having children even though that was a byproduct of any forced activities is quite welcome.
And what I find interesting is when men see themselves in the space of women, it terrifies them. That the concept of giving birth is icky to them and if they somehow were able to give birth, what they may have gone through is horrific to them. Thus, they're blocking this mentally , saying that it's a disgrace, calling the people who like the genre problematic.
And methinks I may have one idea why women like Omegaverse more. Because women, who suffered from real life oppression and have somehow been victims of the violence and inequality, want to somehow see men in that horrific position.
There is truly a lot of problematic content in the Omegaverse genre (especially as it has been called transphobic often). But I've found some gems where they're subverting the whole hierarchy of the genre through their works just like how sensible people protest in our real world. And often that protest comes from the Omegas after suffering from all the points made above and they fight, against that tyranny like how real people fight in the real world.
Fan content, especially fanfiction, is written out of love, as a therapy too. And it may feel great to see men going through the same pain.
In this regard I remember the first episode of Girl From Nowhere Season 2, which brought body horror, body modification and Mpreg at once.
Anywho, this is completely my own opinions. I personally love Omegaverse content that subvert the hierarchy.

I keep seeing people making fun of using growled, hissed, roared, snarled etc in writing and it’s like.
have you never heard someone speak with the gravel in their voice when they get angry? Because that’s what a growl is.
Have you never heard someone sharply whisper something through the thin space of their teeth? Or when your mother sharply told you to stop it in public as a kid when you were acting up/being too loud? Because that’s what a hiss is.
Have you never heard a man get so blackout angry that their voice BOOMS through the house? Because that’s what a roar is.
Have you never seen someone bare their teeth while talking to accentuate their frustration or anger while speaking with a vicious tone? Because that’s what snarling is.
It’s not meant to be a literal animal noise. For the love of god, not every description is literal. I get some people are genuinely confused, but also some of these people are genuinely unimaginative as fuck.

Fanfic writers and Fan artists make the fan content because they love to do it. Please support them with love. However, if you can support them with literal donations do so if they have a ko-fi or any other form. Because that creation has taken a chunk of time from their daily workload. And it's the support we're giving them for that time which they could have spent doing other works which may have earned them some money
Fanfiction and fanart are bonus content, brought directly to you without monetary motives. That is so rare nowadays. You can and should if you're able to support these creators with donations, kudos, comments and reblogs. But you're not obliged to. You can consume it for free, because people enjoy sharing their talents with you. Make them feel loved for their gifts for us.

Fingers crossed. I hope at least one will have good writing. I'm also craving some dark academia aesthetics. The only BL drama that did it almost perfectly is Enchantè.
It's raining Vampire BLs next year onwards

This is it. The Thai BL industry has finally entered into The Twilight zone (pun intended) and I'm here for it.
I hope at least one of them gives me a good plot and character driven storytelling to soothe my heart and soul.
If not, watch me writing a whole vampire BLs series myself. A gift to myself. To me. From me. With love.

My disjointed thoughts keep me awake at night.
I breath shakily. Only fumes come out.
There are too many voices in my head.
Too much noise.
Too much confusion.
Like flies buzzing around constantly.
Makes me go mad.
Makes me cry out of frustration.
There are burn marks all over my face.
The battle scars.
The cry of desperation.
There is no way out.
Is there any way out?

Something nice happened yesterday. But instead of feeling joy, I feel very humbled. Like instead of bubbling happiness, it's a feeling of suppressed sadness and relief, that is pouring out like carbonated soda water after the shaking of the cola bottle.
Why am I like this?

Yesterday I cried in the office bathroom and then carried on with work like nothing happened.
I've learnt the art of acting and lying through smiles. I'm proud of myself.
