Thinking that a single mistake or lapse in judgement will ruin your whole career? Do this instead. Respond by reframing the message that you tell yourself. Refuse to allow a pessimistic inner monologue to take hold. . When ever something happens ask yourself: . * Does this issue really matter? * Is it important enough to address and will it even matter tomorrow, next week or next month? * How will my reaction to this issue impact the people involved? . It takes practice but you can build the mental power needed to stop a single bad moment from ruining the whole day. Learn to laugh when something unexpected happens. Instead of trying to figure out why it happened to you simply state, “That was interesting.” . Practice keeping your focus on what is going right, no matter how small. Focus on what you have to be grateful for every day. Don't let a bad five minutes turn into a bad 8 hours, a week, or a lifetime. . As I considered how I was feeling I began to wonder if these frustrations are really little gifts meant to remind me of the cost of the Christmas gift.
