Where I Am.
Hello, friends of my dear photo blog of old. It’s been quite a few years since I would post here occasionally after my POTD project ended. But back in 2017 I started a Photo of the Week project instead, as life is quite a bit busier than when I was a teenager, and am updating it here (https://www.flickr.com/photos/squiggleos/) It’s odd to think since my last photos here I have traveled around the world and landed in Denver, Colorado after trying to find my way in the world. But that’s where I am for now! I am just finishing up a program to become a certified Medical Laboratory Scientist and am so excited to be done soon! I really love the coursework and what we are learning and being able to help others in my community, but the past few years have been so, so difficult in the process. We’re getting there! Despite everything I am trying to be optimistic for the future. So anyways, if you would like to see current photos from the project, join me on the Flickr! If not, I hope you have an excellent day! Good luck in your internet adventures, friends. <3

Finished up with my classes today and decided to have a little wander after making my way back to my apartment. My little wander led me to a suspended walkway above one of the main roads next to my neighborhood, as well as the creek that’s at the center of my favorite local walking path. PS: Shout-out to the older gentleman who was walking around nearby, stopped by to see what the weird foreigner was doing, and let me pet his cute dog!

I went shopping today and stopped by Olive Young for some face stuffs like BB cream and powder foundation, and to my surprise and great delight, they have a promotion right now where you get a free Halloween mug with your purchase! It was a nice little surprise since I only had two mugs before, and it’s such a heckin’ cute little spoopy mug! So when I got home I did a little photoshoot with the mug, box, and coaster it came with just for fun. The setup was a little sloppy and I didn’t take too many shots, but it was something I haven’t done in awhile, so I enjoyed it. Have a Happy Halloween all! Enjoy your spoopy month!

It’s been a few days over a month since I made my way over the ocean here to South Korea. I’ve settled in and my apartment is starting to feel like home. Plus, I was fortunate enough to come just in time for the Cheonan World Dance Festival! I spent the day wandering Samgeori Park, enjoying truly excellent performances, as well as being a spectator to children exploring the park full of joy and excitement. You couldn’t help getting caught up in their happiness. A day well spent.

A best-friend birthday bake-a-thon has taken place on this historic day. Cookies, confections, and cheesecake. My kitchen has never been so occupied.

Brother called me at the beginning of the week, and next thing I know, we’re running off to Utah to escape life for a weekend. Met an explorer and his puppy, outran the rain while hiking a canyon, and got to feel insignificant in the face of time and rock working in tandem.

April is sexual assault awareness month and my campus has created a stunning temporary display of red solo cups. Each cups represents one of the 3,500 students who will experience sexual assault in their time at college...on the NAU campus alone. The current statistics, as reported by NAU, is 1 in 4 women will experience sexual violence while in college, 1 in 16 men will experience sexual violence while in college, and 1 in 10 LGBTQA students will experience sexual violence while in college. These statistics are sobering and preventable, as 80% of sexual assaults involve alcohol.
Remember: no one owes you anything, their body does not belong to you, and the damage you create will be life-long and irreversible. Consent is not sexy, it is REQUIRED and non-negotiable.
Stay safe, everyone.

Life continues marching on and I need to share more photos with you guys! Something arrived today which I am very excited about, and if you guessed a homicidal ninja and a Jewish rock star, you are correct. The top of my dresser always represents where my mind is at, but luckily all my dirty dishes, post-it notes, and coupons are out of frame, haha. So you only get to see the good stuff, but that’s how we present ourselves in life, right? Just letting you guys know that that stuff is always there, in everybody, even if we keep it out of frame.

A couple days ago I went for a walk when I still had a cold because I really felt like taking some photos. It made me feel a bit worse and in hindsight was probably a bad idea. But, on Friday, I found out someone I played card games with and argued about video games with in highschool was involved in a fight on campus, which has taken away some of my sense of safety in this town I love so much. I decided to look back over those photos from the few days before this loss happened, and I’m glad I did. I still love this town so much. I still have faith in the people I know, even if it is shaken. This weekend has been difficult, and there’s no box for me to put it in. I can only imagine how these families feel, to be so close. I don’t have any comforting words, but I have some photos. So I hope you enjoy them.

Took a break from studying and work to watch our moon crawl across the sky between the sun and ourselves. Definitely worth it. Better than my last eclipse attempt, I hope, haha.

Returned from VidCon last night around midnight, went to work this morning, and now I need a nap. Absolutely amazing weekend and I can’t wait to share more photos soon (after the nap).

I decided to go on a walk this evening but ended up on an empty NAU campus around midnight...so I decided to take some photos, y’know, as you do.

The school year has been busy. The roommates situation stressful. Took a hike this afternoon. I haven’t posted photos in awhile. I miss it. PS: Made an editing mistake on one of my photos of the grassland, but I rather liked the mistake. So here it is.
