"Well, just say that instead of makin' it complicated. I'm a simple guy." He shrugged his shoulders as he fumbled into his pockets, searching for a cigarette with a grunt.
Tumblr media
"Truer words never been spoken." Lighting it, Elliot chuckled low, raising an eyebrow. He had a point, although it's not like he could refute it, being heavily armed himself.
"Elliot, nice to meet you. Not many carry swords around here. You know the make?" He's no means an expert but, he'll be damned if the other's tools of trade didn't fascinate him. A scarred hand is thrust out. "Ain't one to make assumptions, but you some kind of hunter?"
"It means I'm not a threat, at the moment." If he was going to summarize it; not that it really mattered too much. Just a phrase of warning like was practically genetics, first nature to soothe fear before it formed after all. Picking a stray fuzz off his jacket and flicking it to the ground. "People distrust for a lot of reasons, if it's not the eye catching weaponry it's the patches on my leather jacket or something they can't place into words. Or they do but that's their problem not mine." Shrugging of his shoulders, "It's Nix and you are?"

"What the fuck does that even mean?" Elliot's tired of how these days people seem to fall over themselves in an effort not to offend. Using buzzwords to make the real issues sound not so bad. He'd rather people say what they mean without the whole song and dance.
Tumblr media
His gaze lingered over the swords, flickering back and forth in search of more weapons. "Y'know if you weren't carrying such a big weapon, people would trust you more." Oh, he knows from experience. The huge rifle strapped across his back made people wary. Not that he particularly minded, of course. "You got a name to go with that sword?"
"I'm threat adjacent, so if you could stop staring at me like one that would be great." Though it was not irrational behavior; probably rather normal when he had 4 swords casually on his person. One for each hand and either outside of both legs. A small drop in the very large collection of sharp weaponry on his body. Not with nefarious intents but could easily read that way.

"Sometimes things get so predictable, you know?" They can't quite meet the other's gaze, hands wringing together in a tight bundle until their knuckles flared white. "It's... complicated."
Tumblr media
A pause. "Hmm I suppose. I always hate leaving loose ends, though." They admitted with a heavy sigh. "I'll have to revisit the prototype, like you said. Still, it'll make for good scrap if all else fails. Oh, I don't think I got your name?"
"Hm. I get that. Seeing so much .. definitely makes you adjust your expectations and reactions after some time." At least that was something they had found to be true. Although there was still some curious phenomenon out there, Atieno could easily find reference and patterns in anything 'new' that they would encounter.
Atieno let their attention drift to the varying inventions on the metallic desk.
"Shame about the invention not working out. Maybe some time a way will give you space to try out something new when you come back to it. "

"No one really wants to wake up at the crack of dawn… it's a state of mind. Now get." There are so many blankets tangling around Peter's body that it might as well be the dead of winter. Each he removed with careful precision. Still, Elliot huffed a laugh, undoing the roughness in his tone, prior.
Tumblr media
"Nothin' wrong with a bit of country air." Hands stretch across the barrel that was his chest, eyes surprisingly soft. "'sides I was up cookin', at least get some food in you. Don't want you wasting away here."

❛ and you confused me for someone who wants to rise how...? ❜ it's grumpy, no doubt, but this early in the morning? peter would argue that he's damn well entitled to it. he rolls over to look at the clock; groans loudly when he sees that it reads 5:30am.   ❛ what the fuck is wrong with you? ❜

"Early to bed, early to rise."
Tumblr media
"Early bird gets the worm, yadadda." It's the same excuse his father and his father before him used. But it had its perks. There was nothing better than waking up before the rest had crawled out of their beds, it was quiet and therefore peaceful. Safe. "Might see some birds and shit. Clears your head, too,"
Tumblr media
❛ don't you fucking dare wake me up before 10am. ❜

Types Of Writer’s Block (And How To Fix Them)
1. High inspiration, low motivation. You have so many ideas to write, but you just don’t have the motivation to actually get them down, and even if you can make yourself start writing it you’ll often find yourself getting distracted or disengaged in favour of imagining everything playing out
Try just bullet pointing the ideas you have instead of writing them properly, especially if you won’t remember it afterwards if you don’t. At least you’ll have the ideas ready to use when you have the motivation later on
2. Low inspiration, high motivation. You’re all prepared, you’re so pumped to write, you open your document aaaaand… three hours later, that cursor is still blinking at the top of a blank page
RIP pantsers but this is where plotting wins out; refer back to your plans and figure out where to go from here. You can also use your bullet points from the last point if this is applicable
3. No inspiration, no motivation. You don’t have any ideas, you don’t feel like writing, all in all everything is just sucky when you think about it
Make a deal with yourself; usually when I’m feeling this way I can tell myself “Okay, just write anyway for ten minutes and after that, if you really want to stop, you can stop” and then once my ten minutes is up I’ve often found my flow. Just remember that, if you still don’t want to keep writing after your ten minutes is up, don’t keep writing anyway and break your deal - it’ll be harder to make deals with yourself in future if your brain knows you don’t honour them
4. Can’t bridge the gap. When you’re stuck on this one sentence/paragraph that you just don’t know how to progress through. Until you figure it out, productivity has slowed to a halt
Mark it up, bullet point what you want to happen here, then move on. A lot of people don’t know how to keep writing after skipping a part because they don’t know exactly what happened to lead up to this moment - but you have a general idea just like you do for everything else you’re writing, and that’s enough. Just keep it generic and know you can go back to edit later, at the same time as when you’re filling in the blank. It’ll give editing you a clear purpose, if nothing else
5. Perfectionism and self-doubt. You don’t think your writing is perfect first time, so you struggle to accept that it’s anything better than a total failure. Whether or not you’re aware of the fact that this is an unrealistic standard makes no difference
Perfection is stagnant. If you write the perfect story, which would require you to turn a good story into something objective rather than subjective, then after that you’d never write again, because nothing will ever meet that standard again. That or you would only ever write the same kind of stories over and over, never growing or developing as a writer. If you’re looking back on your writing and saying “This is so bad, I hate it”, that’s generally a good thing; it means you’ve grown and improved. Maybe your current writing isn’t bad, if just matched your skill level at the time, and since then you’re able to maintain a higher standard since you’ve learned more about your craft as time went on

Getting inspired to write is actually really easy! All you need to do is be the busiest you've ever been in your entire life and as far away from a computer as humanly possible. Hope this helps 🥰
