I, Orfeo

Based on true life events using a Orpheus as a metaphor.

This project was shot with a plastic Holga lens jerry-rigged to a Moment Telephoto lens then attached to the iPhone 6s Plus using Command Strips. The imagery was manipulated on the iPhone only. The prints are archival pigment ink on Hähnemühle Photo Rag paper, mounted to cradled wood panel and then hand coated with several coats of encaustic medium.

I dream in the garden of our creation While sunlight burnishes the grass I kneel to caress the green streamers Soft as your long black hair And collect the stars hidden beneath You cast spells Because you can And at your will I breath Ke ao ke aloha i ka lani While you direct the winds As if you held the gourd of La’amaomao The garden is empty except for me But my songs fall like coins dropped from the skies They drape you in your silent mist in hues of lustrous orange and red And when I turned you said “Who?” As if you were Eurydice Show me loves place in the sky The weight of your beauty a cluster of suns While the wandering makani talk to the gods of time to let them keep you I cannot penetrate with any bright but saddened sounds But their lingering resonances are a caress…an alphabet of touches And I press the letter O to your not there lips While I feel only absence and sorrow, suspended in the clouds that thunder above Because of you, the brightest comet on a musical summer night, I bleed the   color of a red hibiscus As your light moves over the distance In the Sunday morning dew I will be gone

This site, http://vk.com/fineartru, IS RIPPING OFF MY WORK AND TRYING TO SELL PRINTS OF IT WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. BE WARNED. I found it because they tweeted my work with my name attached to the tweet. CHECK FOR YOUR WORK! Now I have to figure out how to get them to cease and desist. Anyone know a cheap lawyer school in international art copyright violations...like that isnʻt an total oxymoron.

I just thought I would let people know that in the last few months, I have found my images used without my permission several times.  Yesterday, I learned that this guy, @uttemel took my work called, "And He Watched While the Sea Kissed the Sky”, which I published on August 28, 2014 via Behance. He not only took it, he cropped it, added text, added his own logo, and reuploaded it to his own Tumblr and published it, without credit, without permission. He just took it. As if my putting it in my portfolio gave him the right to my copyrighted work.  My work is found here: https://www.behance.net/gallery/19386463/And-He-Watched-While-the-Sea-Kissed-the-Sky  Note that no permissions for use and/or derivation were given. Because the text is embedded in the image, Google doesn't translate it. This one I think I am going to let Pixsy handle. In the past, I randomly spot checked some works using Tin Eye, and as I found them I fought to get them taken down. I always prevailed, although sometimes it took several emails and days to make happen. Recently, I got a 10 day trial for Pixsy (a service that deals with image theft.) I found a lot of "false" matches, especially with images that had the use of certain Hipsta films. But Pixsy found @uttemel’s and another. The other used my image, "#3 from The Bus Passengers series" the way it was, but with no credit, and they downloaded it and then put it into their own website via upload, as if it was their own image. https://www.behance.net/portfolio/editor?project_id=9247897 That one was also published on Behance, but on June 11, 2013.  I commented their Tumblr page and sent an email and got it taken down within a half hour last night. Anyway, it's not only Richard Prince who is ripping off artists. Make sure you check for your work around the web. You might be surprised what you find. I have been.
