I once drew an eye on the condensed glass of the vending machine. And when droplets of condensation began to leak from the corners of the eye I said:
Me too, vending machine, me too.

I saw a thought provoking quote about war in ‘Sita’s Ramayana’ by Arni and Chitrakar.
“War, in some ways, is merciful to men.
It makes them heroes if they are the victors. If they are the vanquished -they do not live to see their homes taken, their wives widowed. But if you are a woman- you must live through defeat… you become the mother of dead sons, a widow or an orphan or worse, a prisoner.”
It offers that there are worse things than death. How both duties of a man and woman in ancient India required strength, but only one was celebrated. Nobody wins in war.

I got bored of 4321 by Paul Aster after the first part lol but some lines were so insightful or relatable I have to share them. Life is so impermanent, so lucky. Skill based game enjoyers would be disgruntled by it.
1. He had a hard time of it, especially in the beginning but even after it was no longer the beginning
2. The world wasn’t real anymore. Sleepwalking through his days and struggling to fall asleep at night
3. Stories are no less valuable than money but in the short run they have their decided limitations.
4. They weren’t tormented by the curse of ambition. Alexander conquers the world and then what? He builds a rocket ship and invades Mars.
5. The other stories seemed plausible to him, not necessarily true, but possibly true and therefore worthy of being believed

Six of crows 🐦⬛ is great literature, a story of resilience and justice. But the lives of the kids in the slum are so tragic, and yet through personal experience, I know it’s an accurate portrayal of some places. I felt these were the most heart-breaking / eye-opening quotes in the book
1. Barrel boys don’t have parents. We’re born in the harbor and crawl out of the canals.
2. “They fear you as I once feared you. We are all someone’s monster, Nina.”
3. “How could you say something like that to her? She’s just a child.” “We were all children once.”
4. She learned to smile, to arch her back. She still wept, but the tears were never shed.
5. “I’ll build something new”, he shrugged. “Watch it burn”

Normally I hate romance in fiction because it’s excessive and forced but six of crows was SOMETHING ELSE. Here are my favorite love quotes from Inej and Kaz
1. She smiled then, her eyes red, her cheeks scattered with some kind of dust. It was a smile he thought he might die to earn again.
2. There she went again, seeking decency when there was none to be had.
3. She’d laughed, and if he could have bottled the sound and gotten drunk on it every night, he would have. It terrified him.
4. His knuckles brushed against her skin and lightning cracked through him, left him paralyzed, rooted to the earth.

And those words are only considered sophisticated because they have French roots (The French just love adding useless letters) and simpler words are considered basic as they have Anglo Saxon roots (because they were peasants at the time)
So having an “academic register” is basically racism
So my English teacher keeps asking me to add “sophistication” in my writing. like why tf would you want to say “intentionally employs” when you could say “use”
