🍀 and 🐉 for Maisie in the disabled OC ask game!
sorry for the late reply and thank you for the ask<3
🐉 - has your OC ever struggled with internalized ableism?
Hmm, while some of my ''Disabled & stylish'' characters have experienced some very deep internalized ableism, I'd like to imagine she lived in a very accommodating home, with loving parents & friends who supported her in any way they could, so I would say, maybe no?, maybe a bit, in her early teens she always asked herself, ''why? Why her body was more ''weak'' than her peers, but that's all, she learned how to live with it.
🍀 - does your OC have an accessible home? what types of equipment or aids do they have at home?
When she lived in Canada with her parents, all of her home was accommodated to her needs, bath seats, clothes with velcro, handrails, etc, anything to help.
When she flew to Japan to meet Yumi, she stays in their apartment, while not many things can be done to the building itself, unlike her own house in Canada, they try their best to help eachother with any mobility aid, or assistive devices, for the kitchen, in example, food processors, jar openers, everything they need is close. Maisie also uses a pink cane in her worst days.

sometimes i think, one day art made by humans will not be relevant, in a far, maybe not so far away, dystopian reality.
but no it can't take me, it can't replace me, it can't replace us.
it won't take my passion away from me, it can't, it can't take away my soul, from me.
not the hours of practice, not the hurting hands, nor the body that aches, not the tired mind. not the dedication, the years of my life completely dedicated to art. to studying it, to become one with it.
it can't take my humanity from me! it can't take away MY experiences from me, it's mine, it's my expression. these are MY feelings put into words, put into drawings & illustrations, put into choreographies and melodies, put into photographies & collages. this is MY life.
they will not throw away the joy of creating, of learning through error, of finally doing it correctly! the joy of sharing art with others, of making art for others, of letting my fucking heart, soul & mind, bleed through my pages, through my keyboard, through my canvas, through my body, through my vocal chords, and through my fingers.
they will not take away my power to create, because it is human, intrinsically human.
they will not take away my love for drawing, they will not take away the hours of work, the days of completely ignoring my responsibilities as a human in this world, just to draw a little bit. because i love being able to imagine, and draw whatever comes to my mind. they can't replace me.
they won't take away my enthusiasm to write, to let people know what i feel through my own words, to dedicate, and to write to other people. because i love to write, and to let the words flow just like my life. nothing can replace it.
they will not take away my love for dance, we are talking about art right? they will not take away my passion, they will not take away the pain and tears of my own effort, and the light feeling of my body. nothing can replace it.
they will not take away my interest for music and everything related, to sing, to write, and to play with my own beginner's hands, nothing will replace me.
why? because i was born to create, i was born to make art, even if it is stupid, horrible, and imperfect, mediocre.
create art with your own hands, with your bodies, revolutionize the world with your imagination and creativity, with your souls. CREATE no matter if it's bad, if its shitty.
because art is simply human, it is a human expression for a reason. there is no art without humans, and there are no humans without art, we create art because we exist and we exist because we create art.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for the representation you show in your characters and making your beautiful art in general. I barely ever see disability represented in a positive way, and it means to much to me and I’m sure many others! It’s always so nice to see fellow disabled artists 💗
This definitely made me cry a little bit haha, thank you for this kind message, it always makes me smile, this is why I do this type of art. It makes me so happy to see other people just glad they're being represented in, finally, something positive. It's nice to see. When you grew up and never had any character, any person you could look up to in regards of your own disability, anyone you could say ''Oh, this also happens to me!'' Or simply, ''they're just like me!'', it's lonely, that's why I make these characters, because I have felt that! And I want people to know that they're definitely not alone. I also got inspired by other disabled artists.
I got a little carried on, but thank you again! <3

A series I'm making on disability/disabled characters AND fashion!
Because we can be cute or attractive, we can be fashionable, while being disabled!
I try my best to be informed on the conditions I do not have, if you have corrections, feel free to comment them!
If you have any ideas for a character + a fashion style/aesthetic or a subculture, please comment it.
