started a medieval horror fiction (between two fires) set during the Black Death and it’s decently interesting but omniscient narrator makes my head spin. very austere prose but carries itself well. 6/10 so far.

also started hyperion and goddamn. simmons is so good at describing visuals with so little. all of the right beats, so immediately evocative in the mind’s eye. literally has me taking notes for my own writing. sometimes gets a little jargon heavy but i love worldbuilding so it’s chill. 8/10 so far.

i genuinely love kingdon and really appreciate how prolific the fandom is but it’s also hilarious that the character archetype bins they’ve been dumped into are Autistic Pixie Dream Girl and Man with Eternal Back Pain
