"To me, photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event" Henri Cartier Bresson

I did seriously consider just carrying on, but that way I think I’d eventually loose momentum, or have to take a break. Also I have some ideas about a project for 2018, and this project takes up a surprising amount of time and energy.
October knew, of course, that the action of turning a page, of ending a chapter or of shutting a book, did not end a tale.
Having admitted that, he would also avow that happy endings were never difficult to find: “It is simply a matter,” he explained to April, “of finding a sunny place in a garden, where the light is golden and the grass is soft; somewhere to rest, to stop reading, and to be content.”
The Sandman book 4 Season of Mists - Neil Gaiman
The main aim of this project was to improve my photography, personally I think the improvement is obvious over the last year. Todays photo is a reshoot of day 1/365. I’ve learnt loads, I’ve enjoyed most of the process of getting here and there is a brilliant side effect that it’s become an external memory of many of the things I’ve done over 2017.
I cannot begin to thank those who have supported me, those who tolerated me poking my camera in their face, those who gave me encouragement, and those who gave me ideas and constructive criticism. I don’t know how to properly articulate my thanks but you have my profound gratitude.
You can find me on my main blog.
…Thank you very much for watching, and good night.

“Good resolutions are simply checks that men draw on a bank where they have no account.”
Oscar Wilde
Around this time last year I made set two goals for 2017:
Loose 50 lbs (23ish kg)
Complete a photo a day project.
Give or take a mince pie (or 13) I am 100 lbs lighter than I was, and my blood pressure is much better (which was one of the motivations for doing it) and this is the penultimate photo.
So some of the last few days have been spent working out what next years goals might be and here is a photo of some of my notes midway through the ideas.

Took myself off to the Greenwich Maritime Museum this afternoon, mainly because if I didn’t get out of the house I was at risk of becoming more mince pie than human.
This is a cutterhead, used to remove materials from the seabed in land reclamation and construction.

Went for what I thought would be a quick coffee with Hani (@tckilster), 3 or so hours later we left. Most of the time, it’s better to ignore the clock anyway.

Went up onto Blackheath to take some photos and try a stereographic projection, unfortunately it was raining rather a lot meaning I ended up with a lot of photos that weren’t really suitable. The base photo was therefore actually taken back in January.
I am rather pleased with the results though.

Got up early this morning and cycled into the West End specifically to take some photos of these normally busy streets empty. It was very cool, even if the rain on the way home did make it a bit cold.

358/365 - Brown paper packages tied up with strings!
Christmas Eve was mostly spent preparing food, this is an abstract little photo with the 40mm lens, because you’re going to get a barrage of food-porn tomorrow anyway.

354/365 - Victoria
One of the best parts of the run up to Christmas is the catching up with old friends. Had a lovely time catching up with Victoria over a mountain of BBQ.

Had a late lunch in town with a couple of friends. Really liked this one of Bertie.
Removing reflections from glasses, is... frustrating, but worth it.

My mum once told me not to talk to strangers on the internet. Luckily I didn’t listen to her and as a result I met the charming Robert and we spent a lovely afternoon eating cheeseburgers and watching a matinee of Hamilton.
