They have consumed my every waking thought...

days 8 and 9 are here!! The warden and the king Maxwell. A tragic love story that could never be.

these two have recently consumed the minds of me and my co-lore parent @dragonheroo the creator and owner of the warden and who helped design the king because I got lazy after making his bastard son XD

oh I love them so much, they are the exception to the flag clothing trend I’m doing because their love had to be secret, doomed from the start, and tragically ended all too soon with the death if the king. Leaving his dear beetle behind to loom after his son, with a looming controlling grandmother all too eager to sweep her sons death under the rug.

I love them, there is so much more lore to this world and story and these guys are just a fraction of it.

Presenting even more tragic ocs of mine

This one is of Ambrose and Mice!

Ambrose (the masked one) is one @chaoswalkers24 made. The character and the whole half dragon species. And so much of their lore

And the little guy on his shoulder is his accidental son he created by giving a plush sentience.

They are connected throught their soul, thus the red strings floating around them.

Their story is a long one...but hopefully I'll be posting more about them XD

I’m like a week behind but here’s day 7 of my pride art of my walkers! this is kubeon! A walker designed first by me then made absolutely gorgeous by my wonderful friend @dragonheroo as this character is based on them!

I absolutely love love LOVE how they turned out!

a non binary aroace icon I’ll tell you that! UwU they are also a turned walker, but that’s lore for another day.

I offer two little guys staring longingly into each other's eyes for the occasion. 🏳️‍🌈

Cus what's not to love about a king falling in love with his weird monster coded guard (He is half dragon)

And of course it's tragic. And of course the guard has to live a very long life without his man who he probably barely even admitted his feelings to...and now he is stuck taking care of his legacy

Becuse his duty holds.

"We caught it just in time" kills me as well. That whole scene does to be fair. But this line and how panicked Dan becomes just from Diana remembering their son, from wanting to know his name, from remembering him older.

She isn't having an episode, nothing bad is actually happening yet but anything about Gabe just being mentioned is something he "caught in time" the memory itself is a symptom, a sign of disease of disorder. The memory of Gabe is a threat, something to be stopped. He is trying to turn Diana into what he is.

Completely erase her disorder, even the memory of it. Repress it to the point that it never even existed. They dont need to grieve they need to be good. And it doesn't work

“We caught it just in time” vs “something the doctors all missed” are the lines that kill me about Dan.. the idea that he’s so desperate to keep Diana the way he couldn’t with—

Thinking about Gabe going from "Hey Dad it's me" in I Am The One to "Hi Dad..." in I Am The One (Reprise)

How this is the first thing he sings after we find out what he is. And how it's the last thing he sings when Dan accepts what he is.

How it goes from something loud and even, something almost cocky and confident and powerful. How he strides up to Dan and leans over the counter, getting all up in his face. To how small and broken it sounds, spoken throught tears. How Gabe lowers down despite being on the counter, much higher than Dan is. How he lowers his head to him like a wounded animal. How he finally shrinks down after a whole musical of towering over him and screaming at him to be seen to be heard.

The parallels/changes between these two songs are so delicious...

I love that any of the goodmans can be the main character if you focus on them hard enough

Okay but I would've been actually so upset if it was a studio recording? This may be a hot take but the studio recording from the west end cast you can find on YouTube are so painfully in lowercase?? Even the music is just so...not there. I love that we basically got the pbs sound but without audiance, that's all I wanted. That's all I've been listening to on loop since ive watched the musical so it's great. And we got all our swears back like what more do you need?

Honestly if you’re complaining that the next to normal west end album isn‘t a studio recording I will consider you spoiled.

actually i am still thinking about dan goodman from next to normal. at some point during the course of the play, you start wondering why he isn't also still grieving his son in some way, since loss like that never really leaves you. when his solution to di's amnesia is to just not tell her about their son and his death, you think, oh, he's probably repressing his own grief and loss, likely because he's had to prioritize supporting his family.

but to get to the end and have him be the one to reveal gabe's name? that gabe's ghost stays with him and flips "i am the one" in such a chilling reprisal, to take the song about support and stability and flip it on the guy who's been trying to be an anchor in his family's life, to make it about gabe being the anchor the same unhealthy way he was for diane--and then to have "light" come back but it's moved onto dan and nat???? and gabe just lightly touching his sister's hand even though he isn't real and they've never met. when you're struggling, your whole support network struggles!!!!!!!

Long story short...the musical has overtaken my brain and I really wanted to honor it with art but i cannot for the life of me draw fanart of actual actors sooo I made a sort of poster? I just needed to get the feels out

(Also the whole ballerina and dance motif makes me go absolutely insane)

The cast recording is out so here's another thing I noticed

From I Dreamed a Dance: (Diana to Gabe)

"You whispered slyly, softly/

From A Promise: (Dan to Diana)

"The promise I made to stay and I stayed true/

(...) You'd remember that girl, I'd remember that boy"

It's Dan, Dan said he'd be true and he has been. He couldve been her support if only she could remember that girl (Natalie) and if only he could remember that boy (Gabe)

Finished this piece of her, she’s the whole reason I made this account in the first place, this is her academy attire, a student of magic uwu and a damn good one.

I’m going to draw more doodles of her life to share them, and her crazy life.

Her name is Cassy, she’s a race halfway between dragon and human, a species I call magic walkers, or copycat dragons, definitely wanna share more lore.

“john doe is the eye aligned” “john doe is spiral aligned” SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO ME

he is so, SO, buried that it HURTS ME for you to all MISCHARACTERIZE my boy like this. trust.

Johns main conflict has been, at least in the more recent seasons, so very focused around him feeling trapped within arthurs body and like he has no power. It was the main issue with back with Yellow and is too with John,,,

to say that john is more beholding aligned than buried would be more accurate to season 1/2 john. it associates him with the eye would be focusing more on his little eye-motif he has going on with arthur, rather than him as a character, i think. back when he hadnt quite decided he was committed to arthur + humanity—pre-coda john—, he gets to be eye aligned. BUT post-coda john is so UNDENIABLY the buried

TLDR john is the buried with a hint of lonely and seasoned with beholding. thanks for listening.

inej and kaz having issues with touch due to trauma. kaz and wylan drowning and being reborn in the ketterdam harbor. wylan and jesper feeling like they have to hide a part of themselves due to their fathers. jesper and nina being grisha with addictions. nina and matthias being raised as a weapon rather than a human. matthias and inej being deeply religious. inej and wylan making themselves smaller because of the abuse they suffered. wylan and matthias being forced into a life of crime. matthias and kaz losing their parents and siblings. kaz and jesper being thrown into the barrel because of reckless behavior involving money. jesper and matthias being taught from childhood to be afraid of grisha power. all of these characters being so different yet so similar and forever interconnected with each other because they know that no one else will understand

the way jordie haunts the narrative truly haunts me. the way he carried kaz to shore, the way he demands to be remembered. the way he drives kaz's plans and schemes and has woven his way into the platform that kaz brekker has built for himself.

the way jordie has kept kaz afloat for years. but the way he's also kept kaz in the water for years. the way kaz has been kicking and kicking toward the moment of recompense and revenge, his hands never leaving jordie. his kickboard, his lighthouse, the thing keeping him alive and the thing keeping him half in the grave, dragging him down as much as he's guiding him.

the way jordie was once a light for kaz, the way kaz has found light in inej. the way inej is the reason kaz didn't drown in fjerda, the reason to keep swimming, the reason to live. the way jordie was once a brother for kaz, the way kaz has found a brother in jesper. the way jesper is someone for kaz to protect and to forgive, and the way he's more capable of doing so now.

the way jordie is avenged by kaz, but the way that isn't where the story ends. kaz destroying pekka isn't it. it doesn't have to be it anymore. because everything that jordie was to kaz, everything he's clung to, he's found elsewhere. and yes, he still has to learn to take his hands off his brother, but there are reasons to now, there are reasons to climb out of that water. to forgive, to move on, to learn to forget in moments when remembering does nothing but drag him down.

the way jordie is, in so many ways, what holds this story together. the way kaz no longer needing him or his ghost is what sets the story free. is what sets jordie free.
