In Praise of Apollo💛
O Apollo, eternal light in the clear sky, You reveal truth to those who call on You with honest hearts.
With Your golden bow, You pass through the dark and show mortals Your light.
Divine prophet, Your voice echoes in Delphi, unfolding what time keeps hidden.
Each word You speak stays with us, deeper than any dream or thought.
From smoking tripods, You begin to rise, and those who come to You with pure intent receive the light that guides their path.
O wise Phoebus, who opens the hearts of humankind, grant us, in times of uncertainty, the way toward brighter days.
Help us in these times of war, help us to pass through the illnesses that are ruining the world, and let us praise with Your music and chants, about how grant You are.

Indulging in innocent pleasures is really divine for me. Like, yes, eating a fruit salad while reading a wholesome book and wrapped in my white fluffly blanket. Yes. This is how the ancient gods spend their eternity.

I HAD TO MANSPLAIN WHAT ELITISTS THINK IS WEIRD GOODNESS YOU ARE SO LUCKY
I’m so confused when people bring up helpol elitism like hon if someone has a different understanding of their religion and therefore has a practice and relationship with their gods that you wouldn’t normally have I’m sorry to say but their not doing it to show off they probably want to show their practice
if you see hubris sure you can speak on it but I find it so funny when people attack well educated priests who help and guide their community or people who shoot down others who use a different class for their relationships with their deities
I frankly fear their practice is their business. If the gods are offended they will act accordingly. I love unique deity relationships <33
JUST A RANT BECAUSE I TALKED WITH @edensvessel LAST NIGHT AND I WAS JUST SO SHOCKED

I love being polytheistic because like wdym I can just start worshipping ANY god and even if I don’t know a god too well I can just like go “this for you” AND THEY STILL ACCEPT THAT??

So have I. I'm 18 but I've been told I look 21
Just testing something. Fellow Apollon devotees: do you often get told that you look much younger than you are? I, for one, have heard “You’re 21??? I thought you were 12!!” too many times.

If you could get any tattoo (including style, design, not worrying about price) dedicated to your practice, what would it be?
(As in depth as you want it you’re all getting asked)
- Dad
Hiya father dearest!
Gosh, I have so many of these thought out. Firstly, I really want wing tattoos on my ankles for Hermes. I'd also love a nice sun tattoo on my sternum for Apollon. King Asmodeus's enn along my collarbone would be sick too.
I also want some non-practice-related tattoos but that's for another time.

One of these days I'll see some bs about "you can't wear modern clothing while praying to the gods because in ancient hellenic polytheism"
"insert something wasn't a thing in ancient hellenic polytheism which means you shouldn't do it!"

When I die, I don't want to be embalmed. I don't want to be cremated, I WANT TO ROT.
I want my body to be buried as it is and an apple or walnut tree planted over me. I want to go back to being a part of mother earth and I want my body to feed that tree so that i can continue to care for my loved ones well after my death.
I want my grand babies' grand babies to pick the fruit of that tree, knowing their mammaw is buried underneath, feeding, and caring for them the way I would my own babies. I want them to climb into the branches like they were climbing into my arms so that I can hold them and let them know they are loved even after I am dead.
When branches die and fall from my tree, I want them burned to provide my family with warmth in the winter. I want the children to roast marshmallows and cook over the fire that is fed by the wood from the tree I am buried under. I want to never not be a part of the family bon fires. My children will drink beers and tell stories around the fire as we do now, always knowing Mama's spirit is there.
I grew my babies in my body fed them with my body as infants, and when I die, I want my body to continue to provide for and nurture my family for countless generations to come.
Also I don't want the government knowing where I'm buried

Desi person here!
Yes it would be okay! Henna is an art form, we use it all the time not just for the beautiful designs on skin, but we use it in our hair to strengthen (and sometimes dye) it too! It's similar to makeup in that way. It's not a closed thing, anyone can do henna.
Do you think Dionysus came back from India covered in henna? His fingertips stained red like wine, touched by divinity?

Tell me something that excites you about your practice!
Sorry it took me a few days to get to this, school's been absolutely kicking my ass but!
The fact that there's always room for growth. I can never reach a state of absolute perfection in anything, but especially in my practice. I can always, always do and be better. And that excites me! The fact that the possibilities are endless, that I will never reach the stars because I will find that the stars are part of the journey, and that there are several different ways to reach them.

I feel like people neglect the community aspect of our religion, thus, we see many a person fight with one another over petty things. All we have is each other, let’s not forget that.

The myths also teach us about the lifestyle of the ancient Greeks at the time. For example, the story of Persephone and King Hades is representative of quite a few things occurring at the time: the grief of a mother after sudden death of her child, teen marriage, an explanation for the seasons, etc.
On top of that, the myths also relate to their domains. King Zeus having so many children is representative of the fertile rain, and also of His father aspect.
But yes, they are not meant to be taken literally.
since you said you were like a helpol
are the gods/goddesses/nymphs(?) you worship/ are devoted to anything like how theyre portrayed in myths?
Alright, good question!
For most gods, most of them are not treated as they are in the Myths. The myths are essentially ancient Greek fanfiction inspired by the real deities. For example: we all know that Zeus cheats on his wife a lot in Greek Myths and media that surround them. But in actuality, Zeus and Hera's marriage was and still is considered sacred by Helpols
With Nymphs and Heroes, who only appear in a single Myth or so, it's more difficult.
They don't exactly have any established cults, making it harder to get a full grasp on who they actually are. So (at least from what I've seen), we look at the concept of the character that represents that Nymph and Hero and use that to figure out what that is
I'm not informed enough in the topic, but I'll try explaining it the best I can. Anyone who's been in the religion for longer is welcome to correct me!
Let's use Lady Calypso as an example. In the Odyssey, Calypso represents temptation. You know, temptation of immortality. Temptation to have Odysseus forget who he was and live in what is essentially a Paradise. If we use that, we can have a decent idea on who The genuine Nymph Calypso actually is; someone who represents Temptation and (in some capacity) Longing
I don't worship any Heroes, so you're gonna have to look for someone else for that, but I hope this helped!
