I weighed in...
And ahhhh! I know I shouldn’t have because I promised myself I would wait until February because I didn’t want to only focus on the number on the scale...but I lost weight! Currently at 235 lb according to the scale. I think this is mostly a reflection of the juice cleanse and eating out less.  I still need to increase my water intake and be more consistent with my workouts but progress is progress is progress.

This isn’t “new year, new me”, it’s me making a change and trying to live a healthy lifestyle. It’s still me, it’s just me trying to be better.

Make the call. Go for the walk. Brush your teeth. Eat the healthy thing. Getting started is the hardest part, trust me. But once you get past that part and do it, you’ll feel so much better.

First Workout Went...
Well not as well as I hoped. As mentioned I’m going to be following Gym Hooky’s Workout Guide and it turns out I am REALLY out of shape.
Now I’m not saying I was some super athlete before, but I always did something physical in high school and in college. So even though I was technically always overweight I was able to maintain and I was able to workout without dying. I think something about being on a team was really good for me and now that I’m on my own in the real world I haven’t figured out how to get back to that same level of motivation and commitment.  ANYWAY. I chose to do the Lose the Pooch workout tonight; its broken down into 1 set for beginners, 2 sets for intermediate and 3 sets for advance. I decided on 2 sets and let’s just say I BARELY made it through the first set, so I decided to stretch after just one. Like I said, I know that I was never some super athlete but doing 2 or 3 sets of a workout was never a huge issue.  It’s strange to be a beginner again but it’s something I have to accept. I was eating like crap, not working out and I gained 40 pounds in a year. My body is just not at the capacity to do intermediate or advance workouts right now. I think I can be extremely upset about this and fall into a funk and give up, or look at this as an opportunity to relearn my body. I think I’m going to go with the latter. It’ll be fun to grow and track my progress as I make it to advance in the next few months.

Juice Cleanses are Hard
So before starting Whole30 I wanted to do Juice from the Raw and detox as a way of starting 2017 refreshed and resetting from all the crap food of 2016. Turns out I am not a cleanser. I made it most of Day 1 before utterly just needing to eat. I ended up having brown rice and beans.  Spoke to a few friends about it, including two who had cleansed before and one that cleanses regularly. They all recommended eating one meal - of choice; just making sure it was healthy - and juicing the rest of the day/meals; especially since this is my first cleanse. The regular says sometimes you need to adjust to it after a few rounds.  I decided to eat breakfast today and I’ll be eating breakfast tomorrow as well for the last day of the cleanse. I had brown rice, black beans, avocado and scrambled eggs. I also had an apple later in the day.

Inspiration #1 We all have it in us to make a change. I regret that it’s taken me this long to find it in myself. However, I know that from this day onwards, my life is only going to get better. Don’t be afraid to aim higher. Don’t be that person who says “I’ll do it tomorrow.” Start today, because tomorrow is your biggest enemy.

The name holds true.
I’m still looking to lose 80 pounds in the next 365 days. A goal weight of 160 seems reasonable to me considering how far I fell off. 2016 brought a lot of changes into my life, but that also came with a lot of stress and laziness and resulted in me gaining about 35 - 40 pounds in a year. Thats crazy and it’s dangerous and I promised myself I would never get to this point.  Unfortunately, I am here and I need to take responsibility. I did this to me, no one else. I stopped working out, I stopped buying groceries and I decided to order in or go out for the majority of my meals in the latter half of the year. I chose to stay up late, and eat junk food and waste a gym membership.  But I want to change all of that. I started a 3-Day Juice Cleanse today to reset my body from the lack of vegetable and nutrients its been getting. I keep thinking about food, but so far its not horrible and the juices taste good/what I would expect. My roommate and I are gonna try to take on the Whole30. I’ll be doing it more vegetarian/seafood based, but I’m excited to try something new. I (used to) love learning new recipes and cooking and I think this will get me back to a happier place and a healthier relationship with food.  I wasted my gym membership at LA Fitness. I don’t believe that I can afford to waste another one until I’m in the right mindset of working out. So I’ll be doing home workouts courtesy of Gym Hooky and FitGirslGuide.  I look forward to all that 2017 has to offer me. I did a pretty good job of sticking to all my goals of 2016 but I purposefully disregarded my weight in 2016 to focus on school and work and friends and family and only ended up sabotaging myself. When you don’t prioritize your health it shows, and trust me it shows. The last time I chose to focus on my health the results were incredible, but that was 4 or 5 years ago. It’s time to prioritize me.  So my goals are to get down to 160 lbs by the end of the year. (That’s at least 1.5 pounds a week or about 6/7 pounds a month). When I ring in 2018 I want to be the healthiest and fittest I have ever been. I want to cook more and experiment with new foods. I want to be open to new flavors and different methods of preparing what I already know. I want to try new fitness classes. I’ll be doing kickboxing for the months of January and February - every Saturday. I want to meditate more - aiming for Sundays as a day to reset for the week. I want to walk more - starting with walking to/from work a few days a week.
This year is going to be big, and I know its going to be long. But I’m going to focus on me and my health and get to the place I need to be.

I went to the gym and it was glorious. Minus stuffing my face with Mac&Cheese, nachos & Talenti after I would say that overall it was a good day.  1. Breakfast & Lunch were on point. 2. Went for a 40 minute walk during work.  3. Actually made it to the gym for a spin class and completed the FGG Workouts.  Today was just a start.
Gotta start eating better post-gym/workout.
Good news is that I actually made it to the gym and worked out.
Oooooooo look at me!

I go through the same conflict every time I want to do a big shopping. Like I want to lose weight I should weight until I hit just 5, 10 or 15 pounds before I get anything. And then the fuck it I need clothes at all stages.
Decisions.
